Found staff everywhere very efficient, friendly, helpful and hardworking. Room very clean and comfortable with everything you need for short stay. Restaurant menu could be improved along with quality of food for the prices charged. Breakfast not very well organised, short supply of yoghurts and Actimel drinks, one morning at 8.45 one solitary yoghurt on offer, no Actimel drinks at all. Limited variety of bread other than sliced, have to find someone to ask for eggs of any description other than scrambled which this only option on unmanned buffet. Would stay again but wouldn't use restaurant or pay for breakfast.

On our first night we had problems with the male waiter in you Carter and Fitch restaurant, he was rude, sarcastic and very unhelpful as it was 8.15 and was told no chicken etc left as closed at 9 pm. We left the restaurant and complained to reception. Later we were phoned and met by your duty manager (Daniel) who sorted out our problem efficiently. He also found us on our last morning at breakfast to ask if our stay after the first night had been better. We stay in lots of hotel chains and it's this kind of thing that will make us come back to a mercure hotel not the waiter in the restaurant.

Staff were very friendly which was appreciated. The room was standard. Everything worked fine, it was clean, bed was comfy. Occasionally water temperate changed when showering which was irritating, and there was NO manual control for air conditioning which during a heat wave was NOT ideal.

Room was not the best .sink was cracked.curtains were all cigarette burns.carpet had a few stains on it .power socket was damaged and hanging off the wall.breakfast was decent but we were always having to ask for the beverages to be filled up as always empty.

Feedback is a gift and I have acted swiftly in this regard and my maintenance team have taken this room offline until such a time as all the points raised in your review are resolved. We are constantly seeking to improve and enhance our product, and the room you occupied is scheduled for refurbishment in the coming months. This In no way excuses the standards experienced, for which, please accept my sincere apologies. I do hope that upon your return to the hotel, that I might meet with you to offer my apology in person and also to ensure that as a gesture of my gratitude that I upgrade your room to our new Privilege standard rooms, which have only been open a matter of weeks. your feedback is candid and honest, and has been acted upon by my team. « Room needs a revamp »

Hotel was generally ok .room was pretty poor .sink in bathroom is cracked and looked bad.socket in room was hanging off the wall at window.curtains had cigarette burns stains in carpet .breakfast was ok but most of the time needed to ask for refreshments to be refilled as they were always empty.only one bottle of sparkling water in the room nothing else .room was absolutely roasting .

I have stayed there before & was looking forward to bringing my family to enjoy the stay. One of the key reasons for choosing the hotel was the gym & the pool for my teenage children. Due to the limited hours of both facilities we were not able to use either. The shower was cold and despite family room for 4 people only two bath & two hand towels were provided We ordered smoked haddock & poached egg for breakfast. The fish was off and could not be eaten and the poached egg was not runny.

I am genuinely sorry to hear that there were a number of issues experienced during your stay that were less than satisfactory, and please be assured I have discussed your feedback with my operations team. We did experience some major issues with our hot water supply over the last week, and I am happy to report that we have finally, with the help of experts, resolved the matter. We appreciate your patience in this regard. I would also like to thank you for your constructive comments regarding the Quality of your breakfast. I can assure you that the fish you ate was fresh and had been stored at the correct temperature etc. I have taken this issue up with our supplier who has asked to be associated with my apology. As for the cooking temperature of the egg, I have mentioned this to Andy our breakfast chef who has asked me to pass on his apology. Fantastic Hotel this was a good find would love to stay again. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful we were made welcome from checking in to checking out. The room we stayed in was well above expectations with a large comfy bed, everything was virtually new. The Restaurant was Buzzing, with a vibrant atmosphere and the food was good. Leisure facility were clean with nice pool & spa. We have stayed in many 4*Hotels in the past and I honestly think the George Washington deserves another star, 5* top place to stay.

Me and my partner stayed in the new privilege rooms for a weekend and the only thing I can fault is the beds are abit hard but everything else is lovely. Had a very welcome service and enjoyed every bit of our stayed we will defanitly be back soon. Breakfast wasn’t as good as usual but it was in with our deal so we weren’t to fussed.

I found the hotel to be clean, staff friendly and the setting to be really nice. The room was clean and spacious and the only complaint that I could have, was the tv remote didn’t work and two of the lamps did not work either. Other than that I found the bed to be comfortable and room acceptable. The on site restaurant was good, although the presentation of the burger that ordered was a little unusual. It was served on what can only be described as a plastic tray, with lining of grease proof paper. Which as I tried to eat my food the paper cut up and I ended up eating bits of the paper. The tray also had a habit of spinning around, making eating a bit awkward. The food however was very tasty and the burger was of a very good quality. Breakfast was good with a reasonably good selection, although a new toaster would be of benefit to the diners, most of whom are there on business and having to stand about waiting for toast isn’t great. On the whole this is a hotel that is very nearly there, with a little more attention to detail it will be a very good hotel.
