Very good overall - reception staff especially helpful (getting our name corrected and points added to our accor a/c). Pool was not available due to high chlorine level and still not available on the following day. All other aspects of the spa were spot on. Breakfast slightly disappointing I object to paying a supplement for kippers so had to give them a miss. No grapefruit juice and not many staff on duty - were certainly under pressure on Sunday with a large chinese coach party!!

i have stayed art this hotel for over a year now and had only small problems,this time however was a joke,i had breakfast and went back to my room for a shower,there was no hot water from either the shower or the sink,i was unable to have even a wash before going back to my work,i brought it up at the reception desk and was told i would get an email from the manager ian,i am still waiting for it,that was almost a week ago,not good at all,i am due to stay there for 2 days next week,if things dont improve,i will find another hotel from now on

The room was lovely better than last time I stayed when I had to move rooms because of the people verbally abusing me in the middle of the night!!! And I ate in the restaurant and the staff and food was lovely!!!

Attended a wedding and stayed the night. Food was great at the wedding and the breakfast the following morning. Table could have been cleared quicker at breakfast. Staff it appeared where playing music loud in the Orangery at 3am as it woke me up, I say staff as our wedding party had ended by 1am so I know it was not the party I was with.

I was staying in the area overnight in relation to work and having stayed at the GW before knew the levels of service that could be expected and was not disappointed. Courteous staff, clean and comfortable room with the addition of a fridge is always convenient.

Good hotel with a good leasuire facilities the premium rooms are excellent but the normal rooms are average, also left my swimming shorts in the room when I checked out, I thought I would get them the following week then to be told they wasn’t found when I 100% left them in the room

Superb hotel, the staff the restaurant the gym and the management are all top of the game. There was an issue I had (I didnt report it in the morning as I needed to leave quickly to attend a meeting) regarding my room. My room was the first on the floor, after you take the ramp up to the stairs and then on to the first floor. I slept very badly up until about 2AM when I used ear plugs - the reason for this was a) The door bangs very loudly between the corridor and the stairwell, I suggest you could put a small felt in there to stop that bang as people slam it occasionally. b) The stairwell is very noisy almost acoustically magnified from the wall, so when you hear a person in high heels or heavy footed walking up the stairs it is uncomfortably loud, unfortunately, I dont know how you might solve this other than to recarpet the stairs, I appreciate this isnt a cheap or quick fix. On the whole though withou these issues, I would stay again, as the other elements to my stay were a 10/10 the staff are great and the facilities and restaurant also. I had the Brisket for my dinner and sides, with some of the IPA beer - all were extremely satisfying. I carry out business at Kasai in Washington and so shall be staying again in future, and all I will mention is I would prefer a room not next to the stair well. But I WOULD stay here again for certain. Thanks, and best wishes.

Desk in bedroom, but no power (unless desk pulled forward). No where in the shower to place shampoo / soap, a small shelf would have been a benefit. Extraction vents in bathroom appeared to have many years of dust within them. Fire alarm went off shortly after midnight on Sunday/Monday morning.

Housekeeping had done an excellent job with the room, immaculately clean and well presented. Reception staff provided a warm welcome and gave good service at check in Restaurant was not busy so expected attentive service - bar tender and manager gave warm welcome but there were continuing problems with charging things to our room. Bar tender unable to make a good cosmopolitan despite following recipe, made it undrinkable with overzealous lime juicing. Espresso martinis were better. Quality of food was average, timings in kitchen misguided, starter plates whipped away as waiter stood holding mains behind us. Poutine was tasty. Breakfast was a huge let down. For the number of guests present, a freshly prepared cooked breakfast would have been possible. Scrambled egg was grey/green with a dried crust on top, mushrooms were crisp having dried out under the heat lamp, sausages all over cooked and bacon floating in liquid. Most unappetising and felt unable to eat them due to unknown length of time sitting at a lukewarm temperature. Milk on tables at room temperature which could have been provided from chilled when seated. A distinct air of apathy from staff who could clearly be overheard complaining about having to handle other guests and their complaints ‘he’s moaning again, I had it yesterday an’ all’ Unprofessional at best. Reception staff were pleasant at checkout but under trained in use of software and customer service as we were not given our bill to check then overcharged by £47. We had wanted to complain to the duty manager but he was already dealing with several complaints and there was a queue to discuss our experience with him.

« Noisy stay in a superior room »

Have stayed at this hotel several tim, visiting family in Washington, and previously been comfortable in a quiet standard room, well away from reception. This time there were no standard rooms available, only superior. As usual I requested a quiet room and was allocated 303, over restaurant kitchen, with a view of flat roofs and a large metal air duct. Suffered constant noise from extractor fans outside window and unpleasant smell of food. Stuck it out for two nights, as there were no other rooms available on the first night of our stay, despite the kind receptionist searching the computer for several minutes trying to find us another. The room was very luxurious compared to standard ones, well decorated and designed. We loved the spacious seating area and whirlpool bath, although the shower cubicle was uncomfortably small. Cleaning was good apart from two large dead spiders on the carpet (ugh). Overall we liked the room but the noise from the duct outside was intrusive and unpleasant, even with the windows closed. We will stay at this hotel again enjoyed the luxury touches so would consider booking a superior room next time on condition that it is a quiet part of the hotel. Otherwise it will be a standard room because peace is more important to us than luxury.

The hotel is very outdated- My room was amazing, but walking into the bathroom was walking back 10 years. We had issues the the jaccuzzi bathtub where it didnt seem to stop its cleaning cycle and they gave us the key card for the next room. Lets say if the second room was the one I got originally I would not have stayed. Service wise - staff giving directions was very poor got lost a few times. Im giving a 7 only because my room was beautiful the rest of the hotel not so much... there is potential. If booking maybe ask for an updated room.

The hotel is beautiful and we have stayed here many times. However the noise in the restaurant from a rowdy golf party plus verbal and the threat of physical violence marred our visit upsetting my family immensely, however the management and staff handled the situation impeccably so can’t fault anything. They moved us away from the area and even set up a small dining area in the reception for us to eat our meal. At breakfast they ensured our safety and reassured us the situation was being dealt with. We will not hesitate to stay again and can’t thank the staff enough.
