Room and all practicalities well designed and maintained. Especially liked the 'open' shower room with natural light. Stylish. Friendly staff, very helpul. Good quality breakfast in pleasant surroundings.

An overnight stay, but very comfortable and a quiet room, which I had asked for. Outside our door however, there were some buckets to catch water from what looked like a leaking air conditioning unit. Receptionists were very helpful and polite.

« Comfortable and Convenient »

A very comfortable stay in a well located position with friendly and helpful staff. However there is limited choice at breakfast and when a large coach party is staying who have breakfast all at once little room for other guests. I was offered a welcome drink because I am an Accor Hotel member but not my partner. This seemed really mean and I declined. Not that a glass of beer or a can of coke in the lobby was that I inticing!

« Great position, caring staff but smallish rooms. »

Difficult to find as no signs in streets to this hotel. Many others are signed. Staff were excellent. Room disappointingly small, especially for a Superior, and the twin beds were very narrow. TV was not working showing no signal and staff could not fix despite trying hard. Central Chartres is fabulous. Breakfast was good.

The hotel was very clean, the room was pleasantly decorated and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was comprehensive and plenty of options for anyone to enjoy. The location was great. Most importantly the people working at this Mercure were very helpful and very gracious. We would return again the next time in Chartes.

Avoid - A éviter ! To start, I am a big fan of Accorhotels and am I silver status member. I always try to stay Mercure when I can. Chartres is one of my favorite cities in France and I was thrilled to give this hotel a try. The location can't be beat. The breakfast was good and that's where the good points end. My second day there my brand new kindle fire was stolen from my room. I had placed it in my backpack in the closet area and it was gone when I returned that afternoon. The manager seemed supportive and checked who had accessed my room: two members of staff. They were not questioned (although I heard the manager firmly ask the front desk who cleaned the room in a panic). The manager assured me she would be in contact with me. The morning I checked out she wasn't there. I emailed her and she said she would get back to me shortly. A little less than a week later she informed me I needed to file a police report. I imagine she had hoped I was long gone. No sort of compensation was offered: no points, no breakfast. The room itself was filthy. It needed dusted and the day my kindle was stolen I complained about a mysterious brown smear on the table. The manager herself came up to clean it and fill the soap that needed refilled since my arrival. The coffee cups I used were never cleaned, just wiped. The tile in the entry way was cracked with a chunk missing, and there was a symphony of past guests' pubic hair decorating the bathroom. Housekeeping clearly doesn't do their job. Next time I will stay at the Ibis. Not only is it clean but they run an honest business.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day stay while visiting Chartres. The front desk helped us numerous times with requests or questions we had with a smile. The location is perfectly situated near the Cathedral and the room was clean, the AC worked and we could not have been more pleased.

Veronique and her reception staff are always most courteous, nothing is ever to much trouble for them to help. As always this was a comfortable stay and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice. A very pleasant welcome on arrival. We have stayed here on several occasions and always find it good. We are coming again next Monday on our return journey. Is it possible to have a Cathedral view room?

« Good room, comfortable bed, but the experience was let down by a very limited choice of breakfast »

The room and comfort was all we would expect from a Mercure. We have stayed at quite a few city centre hotels and this was one of the worst breakfasts we have had. Hot dishes were limited to boiled eggs you prepare yourself, the croissant basket had only one remaining and everything was in short supply and the choice very limited. Our breakfast consisted of toast and jam and a machine coffee, not great value for the money paid. This was at 08:30 on a Saturday morning.
