I had sustained a torn calf muscle and damaged tendon.My experience was limited because I was confined to the bed with my leg elevated.I needed ice and the wonderful staff were happy to get a bag when my wife went downstairs to get it.

The front desk personnel (one young woman, mostly) were excellent. Our room was attractive and spacious. The location was perfect for our needs, and the parking arrangements were convenient. Breakfast was well above average. This is a very attractive property in a great location.

« It was very nice night in Rennes at Novotel. »

In general, I was very satisfied with my visit in Rennes with Novotel. As I trust the chain hotel of Accor, I didn't hesitate a second for booking this place. Perfectly positioned, it takes only a few minutes by walk to get from the travel station. There was a bit of strange thing. If I remembered correctly, it was supposed to be check-in at noon, but it was not available, and the room was not ready, and we were supposed to come back again after an hour according to the front desk. I believe that it was not only for me. I have seen a few of tourists who were having the same trouble like me, so they were supposed to put their luggages, and would come back later. I figured out that the check-out was supposed to be at noon, so there could be no time enough to prepare new rooms for customers. In this case, I would prefer to suggest to delay officially check-in as 1pm, instead of noon. Besides, when the front desk allowed to do check-in, we found that the cleaning ladies were finishing the room in hurry. They've done a perfect job for my room, but it would create a problem for the next customer.

Room was nice, but no heating, drink cooler didn’t work, phone didn’t work and despite several requests to fix it the only offer was to change rooms or use a fridge downstairs. Milk etc off by then anyway.

We had a very nice time. We liked that the hotel is very well situated in the middle of the city, near the railway station and the shopping centre. We liked the duplex room because it was spacious and modern. We lived the pool and spa ans the staff were very friendly and very helpful.

Dear Manager, We would like to bring to your attention a lot of things we experienced during our stay at Novotel Spa Gare Rennes from April 23rd – 27th. We have stayed at this hotel two years back or so and we liked it and decided to book this hotel again for this trip. The first thing we noticed is the quality of the hotel has dropped drastically. The other most important thing we missed is the logic in creating such a place to stay for guests. The following points that we noticed are: Restaurant & Parking: The first night we arrived at the hotel we decided to have dinner at the restaurant and the table had Christmas decorations covered fully in dust and finger prints. From a 4* star we don’t expect to see such dirtiness especially when you have to eat at that table. Second I had ordered extra vegetables as a side dish which I didn’t receive. I was too tired to mention it to the waiter and wait around another few minutes for the dish to come. Parking spots are way too limited at this location and going down the turns are way too tight. It takes 10 minutes just to get the car in and out of the parking spots due to its narrowness. There is no lift from the garage to the reception floor. Heavy suitcases must be carried on the stairs to the reception. Rooms and breakfast: We had booked superior suite for our stay. Since it was for pleasure we wanted to splurge and enjoy at your spa. At the superior suite we had a bathtub and a shower. The shower pressure was too low, and the drain didn’t work properly, making a pool of water at our feet. The shower in the bathtub didn’t generate warm water. So, taking a shower in that room was annoying either way. The following morning, we made a remark about this to the reception and the front desk offered us a choice to do a free upgrade to a duplex suite. Given the fact that it is the priciest room in the hotel and it’s a suite we expected to see a bigger bathroom. But we were disappointed the bathroom was worse than the superior suite, at least WC was separate in the superior suite and had a bathtub. The duplex suite had a tiny bathroom and the WC in one small space. The shower space was too small to even move around in it to take a proper shower and the door didn’t close well creating a pool of water outside. The logic of designing this shower is too stupid to understand. The bathroom door opens inwards and the shower door in the corner opens outward. To get inside the shower one must squeeze himself in. The entire bathroom situation didn’t make it ideal to visit the pool and sauna because there was no place to hang our wet swimsuits. (I will attach pictures, so you can have a look) Downstairs was spacey but no hooks to hang jackets, no suitcase placer. Everyday we had to ask for extra towels. The bathrobes and slippers weren’t replaced. We ended up getting a dirty towel as well. Is it too hard to make a remark and mention housekeeping to take care of such details? On 25th April we decided to have a lazy day it was my husband’s 30th birthday so we decided to use the breakfast order in service. The continental breakfast for 2 in the room, all we got was 2 croissants 2 chocolate pastry, coffee and orange juice. No eggs no cheese no ham. I asked specifically for vanilla yoghurt and still got the peach one. So, not just 1 or 2 things that was unpleasant during our stay but way too many. We should not make a remark at the reception to ask housekeeping to vacuum the room daily but unfortunately, we had to do so. One day when we came back in the evening the floor was dirty and not vacuumed. Sure, people like us prefer a certain standard when staying at hotels when it comes to cleanliness and basic use of a shower with a decent breakfast that’s why we pick hotels from Accor group always 4* and up. But if we get this quality at a 4* hotel why not stay at 2* and pay less? Also have a look at our stay history in your system from last 6 years to see how much we stay in Accor hotels especially Novotel and Mercure. Not felt the welcome expected when gold member. Ordered Room service and never get my order because the restaurant forgot about it. They finally offered me a free dinner to compensate but money was not my concern. Booked for a session at Spa, the staff was not informed. Several issue in the room (light, shower)

Generally good. We weren't allowed into breakfast on the Sunday even though it was included in our room rate and we arrived before 10am!! No-one to serve in the bar. I probably wouldn't return to a Novotel due to this experience compared to the many other hotels I have frequented.
