« An enjoyable experience with friendly staff. »

A very pleasurable break, in lovely surroundings, good food & friendly staff. Our only criticism is that there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Possibly the toilet brush ?

« Good accommodation, nice view, bad “restaurant” »

The accommodation was clean and above expectations. We liked the view towards the bay. However the restaurant was overpriced for what it was, it looks old fashioned and the service was incredibly poor.

« Nice stay but Underwhelming »

Our first time to KI. We were very excited to enjoy a night of what we thought would be luxury accommodation for NYE and after camping for four nights. We were underwhelmed when we arrived by the look of the hotel and very basic rooms for the price we paid. The staff in the lead up and onsite were helpful and made you feel welcome. We were happy with our stay and services provided, however did not think it was value for money or a 4.5 star rating. Felt more like a 3 star hotel. Breakfast closed by 9am on New Year's Day which was disappointing, we thought it would at least be open until 10. We were also very excited to have dinner in the Restaurant on NYE, only to find out that the ala carte menu was not being offered and it was a $65 per head buffet menu. Another opportunity missed out on for a first time traveller to KI. Still a good night stay overall, however given the rating we expected a bit more luxury and better room offering.

« Infrastructure quite oldish »

First the positive: all the employee were really nice and helpful. But about the hotel we were quite dessppointed: room design like in the 80’s, no good isolation so u hear everything from outside and very clear in the morning with the sun rising. The pool is big, but we couldn’t enjoy it as there were only two long chairs.

« Very relaxing, friendly local staff, good food. »

We stayed for 6 nights which I think is quite unusual for this resort. The point was to relax, adventure - some days and relax others. We did everything we had on our agenda and enjoyed the comfort and convenience of coming back to the hotel each afternoon knowing we would enjoy a great dinner and drinks. Being city people this ticked the boxes for us. Would probably like to see some 'daily specials'on the menu for people staying more than a few days. Also some more Mclaren Vale wines rather than KI wines to provide a better variety. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Rustic and cosy. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

« Nice place with some minor touch ups needed. »

Really friendly and helpful staff. Good food and the pelican feeding in the morning was nice. The beds are too soft and the room does smell a bit (especially bathroom).

« Pleasant hotel in a lovely location »

Staff were excellent but we could not get hot water consistently in room 4. The food was very "fancy" and a few simple options would assist with the fussy eaters! Old block has adequate furniture but the toilet could do with a re-vamp

« Holiday fee hotel »

The experience was great, with friendly staff and good pool view. The only thing is that I think there are not many attractions nearby and the oyster farm is not really worthwhile to visit. I would recommend the Kingscote region more.

« old outdated rooms not up to Mecure standar »

Ordinary room -not the building in the brochure - expensive - thought we pre-paid (more) for breakfast - meal poor and expensive

« Nice and casual »

Came or Christmas Lunch and overnight stay. The room was excellent and menu was excellent and the cost was appropriate. Due to this being our second stay I would change the Xmas menu next time.

« Rooms fine staff good no problems there »

It was a pleasant place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. the only drawback was it is a little isolated. As there is no public transport on the Island , dining choices were limited.- something we didn't know. However as an overall experience it was delightful. especially the birdlife that abounds in the grounds.

« Mercure KI is THE place to stay on the island »

Friendly and helpful staff, a great location and a terrific restaurant (which is really handy when there are so few places open for dinner at this time of the year). We enjoyed the pelican feeding and the chat which went with it. The Island needs more accommodation as good as this. We also appreciated the fascinating history of the hotel which is on show around the walls in the bar.

« Lady Bay Links Stay »

Very good from service to location, really relaxing experience. Within walking distance of town and the beach is lovely, kangaroos on the course are a delight, short drive to Kangaroo Island ferry and VIctor Harbor,so it is a good base for day trips.
