The room I was given (001) was quite old and with antique looking windows that did not close very well. A group of guests was drinking and being very loud till 2 am in the morning, and it was really disturbing. the room was obviously not made well to keep noise away. the breakfast was also very poor and service was not great. overall a great disappointment from Accor.

Please allow me this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience you experienced on during your stay with us. Your willingness to share your thoughts is very much appreciated. I was disappointed to learn about other residents drinking in the hotel bar and being rather loud in the Bar until 2am which affected your sleep pattern. I shall discuss your comments with the Night Porter who was on duty that night to ensure this won’t happen again and can only apologise for any inconvenience you encountered. In connection with your breakfast you had the following morning which you found to be very poor quality along with the lack of service you received from the breakfast staff I confirm I will have the issues addressed with the staff concerned Your comments are important to the success of our hotel as we rely on you, our guest to tell us how we are doing and how we can better meet your requirements. As a good will gesture I would be delighted to offer you a free upgrade at a reduced price to include Full English breakfast next time you choose to visit Reading. « Clean, polite and convenient but let down by room noise »

Hotel was convenient and staff was efficient. The room was clean and tidy but suffered all night with a running water noise. Checked the bathroom toilets and tap but noise appeared to be pipes or guttering.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Iron didnt work, no hair dryer in the room. Stains on carpet and walls. Room needs an update ASAP. Staff very friendly and good breakfast.

All the staff were great - really friendly and helpful. However, my room (305) was quite dated and the bathroom was not clean. The heating was on full temperature (so hot that i couldn't even touch the surface) and did not change regardless of what I set the dial to. In addition, the windows only opened a very small amount so the room was extremely hot throughout the night - I ended up sleeping on the floor. There was also a high level of noise throughout the night from buses, deliveries and people out late - this was louder as I needed to have the windows open. As I was not in my room for longer than a few minutes until late at night (and as a sole female traveller), I didn't feel comfortable going to reception to ask for assistance.

« Short weekend break »

Quick and friendly check-in, room was ready early. No view but quiet room at the back of the hotel. The reception team was very helpful and booked us taxi to get out for dinner. Descent bar were we watched the rugby before heading out. Bedroom was large and well appointed. Disturbed by noisy neighbours in the early hours but not the hotel's fault. Good selection of continental breakfast.

« Traditional building with a great spirit of hospitality »

I very much liked the building with its historic aspect and squeaky floor. A warm welcome at reception, up to date sanitary service and a great room. Breakfast was of good quality, although the breakfast room was very functional and not up to the standard of the rest of the house. I slept well. The location in the center of Reading is perfect for a stroll in the city as well as getting to TVP by bus or walking.
