« Stayed in better youth hostels! »

I was only staying for the night for a meeting the next day so cannot comment on the facilities but my room was awful. Bathroom was freezing due to rotting window Towel tail didn't work Not enough space to sit on toilet comfortably Towels were so old Sheets didn't fit bed Bed was so used it dipped in middle Tray of dirty food (not mine!!!) outside room when I arrived Arrived at 9pm, no signs to show where reception was. Drove round and round trying to find. Emailed a complaint but not heard anything back.

« A reasonable overnight stay »

The deluxe room was spacious and had a lovely bathroom and walk in shower and separate toilet. The bed, whilst it was large was not comfortable, and the pillows were very firm. The room was also quite dark and could benefit from improved lighting. Tea and coffee facilities were provided however only two tiny pods of milk and cream were available. Bar food was very good and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful.

« Very relaxing short New Year break »

Staff were very welcoming. Extremely pleased with our room although one of the bathroom windows would not totally shut and one of the blinds were broken. Our evening meals on both nights were very good. However, as the main restaurant was closed on our first night we opted for a bar meal of fish and chips, which was excellent. We did however ask if this came with peas or a salad and were told that these would have to come as a side, which made £18 for a fish and chips meal, pretty expensive. We were also looking to enjoy the log burner fire but in our time there, it was not lit, which was a shame. However, the above little gripes did not spoil our stay and will certainly visit again.

I have sent an email to Mark Teobald hat describes my stay. I will add I did report faults in Room 70 to reception. I am still awaiting a reply or at least an acknowledgement! Copy below: I have just finished a 2 night stay at Letchworth Hall Hotel with some of it being good and some not so good. When we first booked in we were given Room 70 and there was no welcome screen on the TV, it had a safe that didn’t work, a very loose toilet seat, dirty mug, dirty coaster, dirty spoon and the phone was not plugged in and had no information on how to phone reception. A walk down to reception to be told that maintenance would not be in the hotel till Monday, so if I liked I could change rooms and I ended up being upgraded to Room 70. The male receptionist on that day looked scruffy, wearing a suit that was shiny, baggy, and when we had booked in did not offer to find someone to carry our suitcases, not what I expected from a 4 star hotel. Room 70 had some interesting features such a cream sachets dated 2.12.2017, the bathroom sink plug that didn’t work and the only way to use it was to keep the tap running, as you could then just keep enough water in it to wash. Sitting on the toilet you see that there is grout missing and the remains of some double sided tape stuck on the tiles on the left hand side. The second day of our stay the mugs, glasses and teaspoons had not been washed, no soap or towel had been left in the toilet. There is a need for a vent fan in the toilet. We found the room dark at night (yes the dimmer switch was turn up to high) and you were unable to read at night as there was no bedside lights. We mentioned to reception some of our problems and Bekke and her associate were very apologetic. They provided fresh cream (bet it is still in the fridge) and gave us your email address. They are a credit to the hotel. The hotel is in a good location and we use it when we attend family events, I just hope that next time it has improved. If rooms were provided with pencil and paper maybe guests might note down faults that could then be fixed. Housekeeping and maintenance have failed again – this hasn’t improved from our previous visit 3 years ago! Ending on another good point the meals in the restaurant were 4 star with again very good staff. Rosemary S.

« Disappointing »

Our room was dirty. Tumblers in the bathroom were spattered with old dried on toothpaste, the phone was thick with dust, the one saucer less cup & mug with the sparse tea/coffee tray were dirty &;the spoons sticky. I could go on.. we then lost powered in our room & had to wait while the receptionist called for instructions on how to rectify the matter then climb up into theach roof to reset the fuse. This made us late for our evening engagement as we couldn't get ready in the dark. The place is in need of a refurbishment, it's tired and gloomy.

« Dissapointing and stressful »

The best way to describe our experience is: Dissapointing. We bought a groupon voucher including 1 Night, Dinner and Breakfast, thinking that it was a very good deal. Our bad experience began at the check in, as there was just one person at the front desk. She had a queue of at least 5 people to check in and at the same time she was trying to fix the problems of someone who had issues with their room charges... Only one front desk attendant at 2pm, when your check in begins? Rookie mistake. We finally went to our room, which was nice and according to what you would expect from a Basic Standard room. Unfortunately, what was not as expected was the cleanliness, particularly the bathroom. There was something floating in the toilet (Didn´t want to check what it was), there was hair around the sink (like if somebody just shaved), and I realised that most people don't use the bath mat, because I lifted it up and it left a nice brown stain on the bath. Also, they left two half full toilet paper rolls, which seriously made me laugh. Are we cutting costs that bad, that we can't afford one or two new paper rolls as every other hotel? The worst part was about to come, when we went to the restaurant. The best way to summarise our experience dining there is: They don´t have a clue of what they are doing. When we were seated and given the menus, we told the waitress that we had our dinner included as part of our package, but she wasn´t able to explain how it worked so we just assumed it was one of the 2 menus we were given. We were offered drinks by a gentleman we guessed it was the manager, who was so stressfully running from one place to the other that he clearly was not in control of anything. Minutes passed and our drinks were not comming. When they finally did, we got an Amaretto and Coke instead of the simple regular Coke we had ordered. We asked one waitress to please fix it, she forgot about it. When the manager came by again, we asked him to please change the drink and he pointed that "He didn´t notice". Well, friendly advice for you: you MUST notice, as you can be giving alcohol to a pregnant woman or a kid. Food was tasty even though the chips we ordered arrived several minutes after the rest of the dishes. When we asked for the check (to pay for the drinks and side orders) we were charged for the food even though we already mentioned that it was included. The manager took the check, printed a new one and came back, but halfway he realised that again it was not the right one, and after a third attempt, we were able to pay our bill. People usually think that Groupon deals mean bad quality and unfortunately you are proving them right. What bothers me the most is the fact that you have got everything you need to provide an amazing service, but the lack of staff at the right time(Front Desk), the lack of supervision (Housekeeping) and the lack of proper training and management (Restaurant) made this a dissapointing experience. Finally, thank you an congratulations to the Spa team, as they were the top point of our experience with LHH.

« Very underated ruined my NYE. »

NYE Black tie event should have been cancelled due to lack of guests only 20. Only 12 in the disco not enough people to hold a disco. Food in restaurant poor. Whole evening was mis sold.

« Nice hotel with plenty of parking and friendly staff »

Stayed one night for a wedding nearby. Was greeted by Taya who was very friendly and was savvy enough to remember we were staying with friends who had arrived the night before. She also effortlessly arranged for our room to be prepared early following a conversation with my friend around attending a wedding for most the day. There were a couple of inconveniences - a very weak flush and one of our complimentary water bottles was half empty / half full. Other than this - a pleasant stay overall.

« Functional but a bit tatty »

The basic service - bed & breakfast - was fine and worked well. That much was good. Location was, as it turns out, excellent. Not so sure about some of the housekeeping. Black mould in the bathroom ceiling? Spider's webs in ceiling corners? Sealant peeling back? A thick pile of carpet dust underneath the bedside table, and in one corner of the room?
