A good stay. Directly opposite the Movie House and beside Filthy McNasty’s. Very clean and tidy - same as our previous stay. Staff are lovely.

« Very convenient location and low price for good room »

Etap is well located, about 15 minutes' walk from the city centre, 20 from Ulster Museum and Botanic Garden, and 10 or less from the Opera House and the famous Crown pub. There is Movie House, a Tesco, and pharmacy very close and a fine laundrette/dry cleaners not far away, plus many ethnic restaurants in the area and hair salons/barber shops. The only cons are no shelves or drawers or closet in the room only a small coat rack and no light at the desk.

Staff were very friendly. Location good. Rooms fine but smelt strongly of smoke. I was moved but the smell remained. Breakfast v poor (croissants aside.) Making guests pay for cheap coffee? Not great.

Thank you for your time on the telephone this evening. The events of earlier this night are as follows: At around 0010 on 03/11/2018 my girlfriend and I were awoken by banging on the door of our room. I waited a while and the banging came again. My girlfriend was afraid and said to ignore it but I reasoned that it was unlikely to stop and so I went to answer the door. At the door was a male member of staff from the front desk of the hotel accompanied by an SIA registered security guard. The front desk representative said that my payment had been declined and that I must come downstairs to make payment. This is despite the fact that this very same man had told me that the room was paid for when I checked in on 02/11/2018. I dressed and went down to the front desk. I was served by a different member of staff and made payment for my room. However while I was at the front desk there was another couple being served by the man who had come to my room. The woman was clearly distressed and her partner was upset at what had happened. She said as much to the man at the front desk and he arrogantly dismissed this, however I can fully understand that she felt this way as the experience was indeed very distressing for myself and my girlfriend. The man on the front desk angrily declared 'I'm not here to listen to this' and gave the lady's partner a card with an email address to contact. At this point I returned to my room. However I felt that I could not let the situation lie. I went downstairs and asked the lady at the front desk for the customer service telephone number. She gave me a card and said that all complaints are via email and told me that there there is no customer service telephone number. I found it very interesting that she mentioned the word 'complaints' when I had not said anything about a complaint at this point. However I was not convinced and so I googled 'ibis corporate complaints', called the telephone number I found and spoke to you, Abderrahmane. I found the experience extremely intimidating and upsetting. Myself and my girlfriend are in a long distance relationship and only get to see one another very occasionally. This means it is a terrible disappointment when the time we have together is marred by such an experience. I found the attitude of the man on the front desk extremely arrogant, the fact that we were woken past midnight for payment wholly unacceptable and the way he spoke to the other couple appalling. Now, I know that when you look into this you will see that there was some kind of error either in the information that was sent from Booking.com to the hotel or in the way that the man on the front desk interpreted this information. (I heard the man say this to the other couple at the front desk.) Please do understand that this does not for a moment excuse in any way the conduct of your staff tonight. I understand that sometimes, when there are two companies working in conjunction, miscommunication can happen. However, this in no way warrants the intimidating, condescending and offensively rude conduct of your staff. « Great value and location, lovely staff! »

Sweet little place, funky decor, friendly staff and free football table. Room was slightly tired and could do with lick of paint and minor repairs of loose door hinges and similar. Also room door cards had to be reactivated several times a day so a tad frustrating if you are on a sixth floor and cannot get into your room. Overall would stay there again for the right price.

I have stayed in the Etap on several occasions and usually enjoy my stay but this time I was kept awake by noise coming up from the street although the hotel itself was quiet.

I apologise if you were left upset with the cost of both your hotel rooms, I can see you stayed on a Saturday night, which you can understand is the busiest night of the week and as we are a budget hotel we would usually be the cheaper option in Belfast city. Hotels operate a flexible pricing policy so that, as with low cost airlines, the price depends very much on levels of demand. This policy allows us to promote very attractive prices on some days, but prices are higher on days when there is higher demand. This usually revolves around specific events in the city, when all hotels adopt the same approach. As ever, from a commercial perspective, price is always subject to supply and demand. Aside from the fact it was right next to a very busy and loud bar, the room was comfortable, clean and compact. We’d paid £35 per person, per night. Fantastic for a hotel to come back to after a night on the razz. I passed out and didn’t wake up until the noise next door had stopped was irrelevant so that was a bonus. Check and check out were seamless and I can’t complain. Fabulous little find and a super price!

« A modern hotel in a very good location. »

Room was adequate in size. Could hear someone singing and talking from about 04:30 indicating that the acoustic insulation between the rooms is not good. Nothing wrong with quality of food in the continental breakfast but a wider selection of items would be good. The milk appeared to be just skimmed so semi or even whole milk should be an option. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
