You could pay attention to the reception staff and their skills, attitude and speed. Every time that I had to deal with them it seemed like that they lacked training. And it is not a question of language skills, but overall skills. The same thing with the breakfast staff.

This hotel is average quality, nothing special about to recommend about it. Ibis Moscow is just two subway stations from Red Square (Paveletskaya), but still you need to walk 10 minutes do the subway entrance. Ibis is the low end hotel of a very reliable global hotel chain (Accor). You will not feel that you are in the Russia at this hotel (but rather in France).

Rooms were clean and staff friendly. Ground floor cafe had a big menu but nothing to offer except "cheese and ham" sandwich for two days! Football hooligans gathered in the lobby and outside the hotel shouting and harassing guests without any interference from hotel staff. I know most hotels have security personnel to deal with this kind of behaviour.

At first, the receptionist refused to provide us with the second welcome drink voucher, although our stay was fully eligible and I booked a room for two persons. However, ultimately, the receptionist provided us the second one. We didn’t have amenities for second person in the room, so we had to ask again. The room was nice.

I booked a superior room and the room is bigger than I thought. It is very good size for travellers who have big luggages and need the space. The amenities are also very good and the only thing I have to say is the location. Although it may not be the most convenient plaec but it is good enough and quiet enough. The nearest 24 hours minimart is about 10mins walk away. The nearest train station is also about 15mins walk away. So unless you are traveling light but it could be a challenge lugging a luggage and walking 15mins to the train station.

To get the train station it is possible to take a tram which stops next to the hotel and it is just 2 stops from Paveletsky railway station. Except for check in, pretty much all failed. My room was not cleaned when I returned at the end of my first day in the office. I had a bar man the second evening that had no idea how to operate the pay system. Eventually I left without a receipt what in my country means I need to pay the bill myself. So I have slept in Ibis hotels more than once and this stay is definitely not what I am used to. A big disappointment.
