« Rodez for the night »

We stopped in Rodez overnight on our way north. The hotel was easy to find. Our reception was very agreeable and efficient. Charles was very helpful with advice for where to eat on a Sunday evening. The room was also lovely, full of character at the top of the hotel.

The hotel was in the centre of the town, very close to a lot of small attractive shops and cafes/restaurants. The room was large and airy, although the windows were quite small (to be expected). The standard of all aspects of the hotel was excellent. Although we were unable to park in the hotel, there was adequate on-street parking close by. Free until 9am, the cost from then on was very reasonable. We were able to drive easily to the surrounding villages and towns.

Very professional staff that provided a warm and very friendly welcome. The room was terrific. Nicely sized and had modern conveniences. Bathroom was large also. The hotel has maintained its old charm with new renovations. A nice touch. Breakfast was excellent.

Very friendly and helpful staff at the reception. Nice room at a convenient location. Quiet. Very conformable bed. Breakfast OK. The one inconvenience was the lack of parking at the hotel.. Was directed to an underground parking at about one km away.

« Nice Hotel with friendly people and good location »

The experience was nice. Hotel is in a nice location, the staff is lovely and helpful, rooms are nice. Only two things can be improved. One, the room was either super hot or cold as thermostat was not working perfectly. Second, there were only 2 iron for the entire hotel, however the staff managed them very efficiently.

Like all Mercure hotels, this one is comfortable, clean and well-run. Unlike some, it has a special character because they've retained a lot of details of the old building, including a collection of paintings done for the original hotel. The location is perfect, close to the beautiful cathedral and the excellent Musée Soulages.

« The best experience I could have wished for »

I stayed at your hotel for only one night after walking along the Camino for 9 days. I was after comfort and a place to rest and the hotel and its staff were superb. The room was quiet and I had a bathtub - as I requested. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff who arranged a massage for me on request and were always available for assistance

« Good hotel with no car park »

Well situated, very good breakfast, nice room even not so big. We were not proposed to benefit of the discount of the day as we booked the room in advance. We should have cancelled the room and made a new booking. Accor website announces "car park offered" but this is not true, coming back late from dinner with no knowledge of the area, we had to park our car in the very narrow basement, get up early to free other people's car and this for an additional 10 euros.

It was a very disappointing experience this time with Mercure at Rodez, France. Overall, it was not a 4-star hotel as stated. It felt like a motel experience to us. Our experience was: 1) Bathroom - poor design of the shower cabinet that causes water to splash all over the bathroom after use. The so called bath mat was completely soaked in the process of showering. 2) As a 4-star hotel, we would expect to have at least glassware in the bathroom (clear plastic cups were given) and at least proper teacups or mugs for hot drinks. Everything was under the category of "disposable"! This kind of operation projects a very cheap and tacky kind of accommodation. 3) There was no fridge in the room. 4) The translation of the safe deposit box in the room was inaccurate. The English instruction for reopening the box did not match with the original text in French. So it was not professionally proof-read. 5) The bathroom shower soap dispenser was only 20% left in the bottle. This is another way to make any guest feeling unattended for or unwelcome. Housekeeping should fill the bottle up or change it to a fresh one in this state. 6) The skylight window in front of the elevator on our floor was covered with black ashes or particles. 7) Our room was filled with the fumes of croissant/bread making around 3-4am. We felt that we were sleeping in the kitchen! 8) The rowdy noise coming from the plaza at night (didn't stop until 3am) was just unbearable.
