The receptionist printed wrong amount on my receipt when check in they asked me to pay the full amount and check out asked to pay again. Not a good experience.

I have fully investigated and we mistakenly posted $450 to your account instead of the correct amount of $550 which you did pay. I have spoken to the staff member concerned to ensure better accuracy for all future guests. I was pleased to note that the remainder of your visit was better but I fully understand that the mix up over your room payment caused such a bad feeling. I can promise you that we do take your comments seriously and we would love the opportunity to show you in the future that we can provide a really enjoyable stay. The room was basic and comfortable and kept clean. The view was exceptional and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Typical of the Fijian way. However, this was all let down by the food. Very disappointedly non of it embraced the local rich culture and there was an obsession with brown sauce on EVERYTHING whether appropriate or not. My last meal was a 'Meat Feast' Pizza, which contained the remnants of previous days breakfast 'cheese' sausage and 'ham' All inferior in quality. This left me violently ill for the long plane trip to Aukland and almost cost me the rest of my three week tour as I could have been denied access to the Cruise ship.

I am really sorry that you were unwell on the flight to Auckland and unreservedly apologise if this was a result of anything you ate on your last night here. I most certainly was shocked to read that you were ill after dinner on the last night. I have not been able to discover anybody else that suffered from eating the same meal but we have ensured that we follow the strict guidelines that we have around food preparation. I can assure you that the only breakfast ingredients used were the sausages and these were refrigerated immediately after breakfast. I was thrilled to see that you liked our location and views and that the staff created a good impression with you. However, I fully understand that your lasting impression was from being unwell and again I apologise. overall enjoyed the hotel especially with the view. Staff hotel should be better trained for attentiveness and to have a smiling face. Morning breakfast can be very much more enjoyed if the staff are more friendly with a smiling face especially if already having a great view of the ocean.

« Fabulous family friendly resort »

About 30 of our family and friends stayed there. All ages from children to older adults thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and beds were so so comfy! Air con in the rooms was great as well. All the staff were so accommodating, helpful and friendly. Appreciated the free WiFi as well. We are so glad we chose the Novotel because we did visit the other hotels such as the Grand and Holiday Inn and they did not feel as homely and welcoming as the Novatel. Better wider menu but we would still chose the Novatel again.

« Consistency is key »

Whilst our stay at the Novotel in Suva was mostly enjoyable there are a few things that detracted from the experience. The most noticeable problem was lack of consistency, particularly in regard to the bar and restaurant. For example, when ordering a cocktail off the menu the same drink was made differently each time we ordered it. Sometimes the 'Cliffhanger' was orange and sweet other times it was purple and more sour, everytime it was served in a different type and size of glass. Another example would be the Calamari, the first time I ordered it it was a generous serving of maybe 12 pieces. I ordered it 3 more times over the week and each time the serving size shrank until it was served with only 5 pieces of calamari. Other things that could have improved our stay were if there had been more outdoor furniture such as seats on the patio of our rooms or hammocks in the coconut trees that line the lawn looking out over the bay. Even just some picnic tables on the lawn would be a great addition. In regard to our rooms, they were clean and stylish however, the bathroom door was difficult to close and the card keys used to open the room never worked properly. Often we had to get a member of staff to open our room with their master key as ours wouldn't work at all. On a positive note the staff were friendly and helpful. Although when we first arrived and checked in the staff member who served us at the front desk asked us to pay $700 in advance ($100 for each day of our stay) so that we could have an account in which we could charge things to our room. This was never mentioned when making our booking or noted anywhere on the website. I declined to pay this large sum up front and whilst the staff member wasn't pleased she politely obliged my request, simply informing us that we need to pay as we go, we agreed and we had no further issues.

I totally agree that consistency is important and this is something that really needs working on here in Fiji. As a Kiwi who has now spent 20 months here after running the Novotel & Ibis in Christchurch. the consistency is the one thing that I have had the most difficulty in obtaining here. It is a big thing to work on and your comments will help me with this. « Feeling ripped off »

You guys charged me for 2 rooms and i havent even be fully refunded!! You guys refunded me partially and took the money without my knowledge! Not happy at all. Novotels fault also as they advised me 2 reservation agents didnt cross check and booked me into 2 rooms and charged me twice. I would like the rest of my money back. Also this happened to a few other guests whilst i was there. Not happy at all. Will never be coming back

« Comfortable stay »

Booking was efficient through the website. Check-in was easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Parking was great. Hotel facilities were great. The only small issues I had was excessive noise from staff chatting in the hallway when performing their duties. This was not a huge issue but there isn't much of a noise barrier between the hallways and the rooms. Local options on the breakfast buffet was very limited. Vegetarian curry dishes only for breakfast and the roti was always down on stock. However, overall the property is great and the staff always acknowledged me with a smile.

Very poor, esp the front desk it is the face of your company, they should represent the beautiful friendly island of Fiji but it’s sad. The housekeeping was always late cockroach around , flooded room my whole suitcase was wet they didn’t care flooded 3 times then they decided to move room.disappointed holiday. Aircon don’t work so as their fridge.poor variety of food tasteless, Some staff were so unfriendly,unhelpful, we’ve never experienced this in a four star hotel before.this should be a 2star. Mr Chetty was an outstanding staff so professional and helpful He is an asset to the Hotel,well done your service was outstanding you represent the beautiful island of Fiji hopefully you can educate the rest of the staff. If I have to use this hotel again it is because of your beautiful service apart from that It’s a NO THANKS

As usual pretty good .Only the shower in the bathroom wouldnot stay at one place .That issue I raised late on my second night stay with the reception n it was fixed. Also felt there should be a note how the phone (landline) works . Though we have a rough idea reception- 0 etc
