« Dated property in desperate need of a makeover »

My stay here was more disappointing than the last. Dust in the corners all over the room, squeaky and half-broken chairs, electrical fittings falling apart and bad plumbing made for a very unpleasant stay. To make this situation worse was the fact that this was a room in the club level. My request for an extra bed took over 45 minutes to fulfil and in the end we only received a mattress. When we made several calls to guest services about the delay the standard answer was "5 minutes". They did not send a pillow with the "extra bed" but a cushion which had no cover and was full of mildew! Service in their bar Gadda da vida is painfully slow. Taste of food needs improvement. The rooms are are most definitely not worth the money they charge for a stay. This property probably has seen better days. Novotel needs to shut it down, renovate it and reopen with better trained staff.

« One hotel I am never going back to.... »

November 6, 2017: The opening night says it all: I checked in at around 10.30 pm (for two nights). It was an official trip and I was part of a group of some 30 Indians and Americans representing various American universities for an EdUSA (U.S. State Department) Education Fair tour of seven Indian cities. The only reason we stayed at Novotel was because the fair was being held there. So at 10.30 pm, I got a good enough check-in, with the usual "your accommodation has been paid for by the company and you will pay your other expenses when you check out." At this point, some hotels ask for the credit/debit card for a pre-authorization so I had my card in my hand but they didn't ask for it. Went to my room and ordered a "quick" dinner - soup and pav bhaji which took 45 minutes. I signed the bill, gave a tip to the room service guy...but he told me (very politely, I will add) that I needed to pay the bill. I explained that the procedure was to pay all bills on check-out so he left. I had just sat down to begin dinner when the phone rang: "Sorry, madam, but you have to pay the bill now." I said: "I was told very clearly at check-in that I could clear all bills on check-out..and, anyway, it's midnight now so please let me have my dinner and go to sleep...we can sort this out tomorrow." I once again sat down to begin dinner....Phone rings: "Madam, I am calling from the reception. My colleague made a mistake in not taking pre-authorization of your card and I will speak to her but you need to pay the bill RIGHT NOW." :"Are you kidding me?" I said. "It's midnight...I am trying to have my dinner and then sleep. Let's sort this out tomorrow...I can pay in the morning." "No madam," she insisted sharply, "you have to pay NOW." By now I was furious: "I am not an individual overnight traveler who is going to run away without paying this bill of a thousand rupees...I am here with the other EdUSA participants and we are taking part in a U.S. Consulate event..." But she was insistent: "You have to pay now...My colleague is coming up with the bill." I paid. I had cold soup. I made a decision: Never this hotel again, perhaps never another Novotel hotel. Oh yes, there were other factors: carpets (in the rooms and corridors) that looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a decade, blood stains in bathrooms and on the carpet (not in my room, let me add - in my colleagues' rooms)....but for me the opening night was closing night. I have seen other terrible reviews and it is obvious that the management doesn't care.

Hotel smells. Rooms have stained carpet. No basic toiletries. No hair dryer. There was blood in the bathroom. Bathroom was used and not cleaned before my arrival. Checkout process - they put wrong tags on my suitcase and gave me a hard time trying to retrieve my suitcase. Phone in room did not work.

My wife and I loved our stay. The hotel was right by the beach at a quiet location. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The food was also amazing! We will definitely come back.

Hotel facilities were fine but disappointed by the extremely inflated prices for food and drink. Eg Rs 300 for a lime soda when a club sandwich is Rs 800. Our experience at the San Chinese restaurant was poor and was inconvienced by the wedding there that not only restricted access to the pool all day but music was playing until 1am at poolside. Having an ocean view room made sleeping very difficult.

I have no problem with the customer service. As everyone was very welcoming i had a problem with the hotel it self. The Air con was stuffing up. At night it would be cold and then suddenly hot. The room was not up to satisfaction, I have been to 3 or 4 star hotels and they have been absolutely amazing. That is service and the rooms and cleanliness was up to standards. Not only that, they also didn't have a travel adaptor for foreign plugs and a weight machine which is needed for international travellers and 90% of hotels do supply it. This being a 5 star hotel was just disappointing. There was a weird smell in the room and it was just stuffy. But like i said the staff were great, very attentive and welcomed us very nicely. Just the hotel i had a problem with.

Hi, The level of service, the accommodation, and the maintenance of this hotel are not meeting 5 stars hotel standards. The first room didn't smell clean. We were able to be transfer to a room without carpet, but we had the following challenges: Dirty bathroom (rust and moles) No water pressure in the shower No hot water in the bathroom sink TV was not working We called 2x for an iron (the 1st one was not working) Impossible to get in touch with the front desk by phone, but if you go in person they are not helping any guesses. Bad food Dirty Fitness facility We pick this hotel to have access to european/american standards but this was below anyone expectations. I stayed in a Novotel before (in France 2x) and I never experienced anything like this. Extremely disappointing!

The hotel has an excellent location, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the range of additional services and amenities is very good. All this is nice and well, but there is a big (very BIG) drawback: the unbelievably loud music (club music) in the pool and garden area, coming from loudspeakers on the wall of the Hotel's bar Gaddo da Vida. The music keeps on playing until very late in the evening, specially on weekends. Not the most pleasant contribution to a relaxed atmosphere. One is led to question: What is more important for the hotel management: the atmospheric experience and sleep quality of the guests or the amusement of the local visitors to the club?

Hello Team, It was really challenging to keep following up with your team to request for beers in the mini bar. Inspite of calling they never filled the mini bar with beers. I went out to purchase my own alcohol but to get an opener it took more than hour. I am really surprised how this hotel is rated as 5star

We stayed in the hotel for 3 days as we had a corporate rate with the company. After 3 days when we came back from work, the receptionist told us that they are fully booked and need to check out. Also I need to pay an extra amount for late check out. I accept the policy of the company , but this charges has to be explained in advance which was not done. Later we tried contacting the sales guy wherein he did not answer our phone. We then checked on the portals and also there were rooms given to the walk in guests in front of us. Still I booked the room and the rooms were not upto the expectation . The carpets were dirty. And the room did not have enough Toileteries . Added to that the room service was pathetic I have to call the reception and the guest service may be 6 or 7 times for an iron box to be delivered to room. Still I did not get it and I have to leave from there. I have checked out from there the next day and checked into Marriott

The hotel was badly managed with ill-trained staff. More importantly, it was very dirty. I stayed here 2 nights. When I arrived the corridor outside the room was very dirty. It stayed that way for the entire trip. No one cleaned it for the duration of my stay there. The room smelt of mould. I will never stay in this hotel ever again.

« It was good but I am really upset. »

It was okay, I paid good money for my room and I was on my honeymoon. Didn't feel as the staff made any effort. I already paid for ocean view room wasnt given an option to upgrade for suite room. Additionally they runied my clothes in the Landry. You need to employ english speaking staff who can understand basic English. There are some good points - to be honest I would like an refund !!! just feeling really sad about the whole trip.
