It was an unplanned stop due to an early return to our country. We were going to Agadir for a few days and the Sofitel was kind enough to exchange us one night at the their destination hotel for the night of stopover in Casablanca. We were very welcome and that became to turn out a pleasant though short stay.

The first day using the bar, a poor wine selection. The second day at 5p.m. I was told there was no bottles of wine available, I had to go to my room and order room service. The night before checking out I requested a car to the airport for the next morning. The concierge was aware and had the car ready. After checking out my credit card was charged MAD700 for the car for which I have no receipt and this is a business expense!

The room was very spacious and was on one of the high floors with a great view over the medina towards the Hassan II Mosque. Staff were very friendly and helpful - for example activating Maroc Telecom SIM cards and adding credit. We had dinner in the restaurant on both nights and the food and wine was excellent. The menu options were extensive. The only thing of concern was the lady who welcomed us in the restaurant wanted a good review - she would have received one anyway as she was polite and friendly. It just made us feel a bit uncomfortable. The service in the bar was excellent too. Another minor issue was that the mini bar was barely stocked compared to the list in room and thought we would be charged for the missing items. We were advised that some items were unavailable hence why the mini bar was not stocked fully. In my opinion, it would be better to not stock the mini bar at all. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

First, the filets were the best I have had in 40 years. The door staff were very courteous and helpful. They received a tip. The spa for my daughter was on par with our other 5 star resorts. Lack of power outlets were noticeable and a PIA.

Our room was great - spacious, light and airy with great views. Unfortunately the food offering did not match our expectation. On the Friday of our stay, being Good Friday for Christians, we expected that with two highly acclaimed restaurants that fish would be available. However, one was closed and the other only offered a buffet which is never my choice of fine dining at any time but more especially given our ‘limited’ options. We were offered the bar as an option but having just had a drink in there were not keen to return given the high number of smokers which spoils the dining experience. Not really acceptable for a highly acclaimed international hotel group. Even worse was the lack of empathy and customer service to our concerns - it felt like that is all there is, so bad luck.

I was placed in a room when we checked in that was not completed properly by housekeeping - as they knocked to enter (while we were in the room) to finish the service. Separately, having spent two weeks in Morocco by the time I arrived, I understand that the taxi/car service culture is different than parts of Europe and USA. However, no airport transport could be arranged without the taxi contingent outside, and they were very aggressive in verbally harassing us, and upcharging us wherever we wanted to go - not the experience I have had at other luxury hotels.

We had an amazing stay at Sofitel Casablanca thanks to the wonderful hospitality of Ms. Fatimah Ezzahrah. Fatimah made our son’s birthday very special. She along with her equally wonderful colleague , Mr. Mustafa (concierge desk) were very kind in making a special birthday surprise for son by inviting him to the grand Emir’s suite on the penthouse level. They took the time to shower him with affection and a good sized chocolate cake , complete with lit candles. Our son was blown away by the surprise impromptu celebration. Fatimah and Mustafa are the best and most affectionate hosts you could ever imagine! We are so grateful to them for going out of their way to make our visit so memorable.

Some aspects need improvement. Hotel taxi service is not great. Difference vibes each time a request is made. Most guest are not comfortable with the hotel getting taxi for guest using the local taxi
