I enjoyed my stay in general, but i have a point regarding the bed , i was having difficulty in sleeping on the bed due to un even surface of the mattress and the ugly smell of the blanket and pillows ,, and other else every thing was great

« Beautiful hotel and excellent customer relationship management amongst employees »

An absolutely beautiful hotel with excellent employees that overall left me satisfied, happy and wanting to come back soon after I left. The decor I would especially like to thank all those who excellently decorated the room and prepared the bath as part of my request to help me celebrate my 1st marriage anniversary. I would also like to thank you for choosing me as the guest of the day and upgrading my room. The only minor issue that can help the hotel improve is that the AC is not very efficient and despite keeping the temperature at 20 degrees, at night it was getting hot to sleep (the balcony doors were shut).

« This place needs a shot in the arm »

We are regular customers at the Sofitel - we are gold members - and have always enjoyed it in the past. However, the past couple of visits have been extremely disappointing. Have the management/kitchen management changed? The food at the pool bar is now terrible! We had several inedible meals there this time (the same things we usually order, which we usually enjoy) - the meats seem to have been changed to processed, cheap reformed meats as opposed to fresh chicken breast or lamb chunks, the prawns were always overcooked, the fries were raw, etc etc - and there is no other option at lunchtime except buffet. All the pool furniture is very shabby now, including broken loungers, old frayed towels and stained, sweaty mattresses. We were asked for 30BD on top of what we'd already paid to sit on broken loungers under a filthy tent/canopy! Breakfast was chaos, nobody comes over when you sit down and they forget everything you ask them to bring. The pool has rusty leaks and chipped tiles. My son saw a poo in the pool, which we pointed out to a lifeguard, who shrugged and did nothing. The pool has also in the past turned my son's hair and my swimsuit pink. This time his hair went green. To add insult to injury we were prevented from entering the Italian restaurant 'because we had flip flops on' (although we had not come straight from the beach and were dressed smart casual). The next night when we returned, everyone in eating the place was wearing flip flops, so it wasn't even consistent! The one good thing about it is Abdullah, Kadendrah (?) and the pool bar team - they work so hard and give such great service, but the food there now just lets them down. This is not a cheap hotel - our bill was, as always, very expensive, as we like to stay there and hang out at the pool, eating at all the restaurants on site and taking all our drinks there. We are disappointed to say that we don't know if we will return, but may change and try the Rotana Amwaj or Ritz next time.

« Perfect place for heat escape »

Dear Mr. I am writing you in reference to my stay in your zallaq aofitel hotel , in the period between 3-6 September 2017. Kindly note that this was my second Sofitel experience after khobar. As resort, pool & beach I would give 10/10. Staff, especially vallet parking guys, is generally helpful and always smiling and welcoming However I have some comments which I will describe as follow: - During checking in, there was a large queue of waiting people with only 2 recepionists serving. When my turn come, the lady suggest for me to go directly to the pool and beach and later to check in (noting that it was 3:00pm). It was obvious that she wants to give the room to another furious client. I have surely denied, especially that we were exhausted after a long trip from Riyadh. We were waiting in the reception, nobody called for us tgat my room is ready,as she told me, I went to check again than she gave me the room access card!! - We went there, the room smell wasnt dirty nor clean, it was odorless and without any evidence that a detergent was used anywhere. Room seems to be unused for months, and air coming from AC wasn't really fresh When I went to balcony I have found 2 big lizards climbing on the balcony's wall !! We went to pool and beach which were fantastic and didn't tried the beds until evening, when we noticed that the linen smell was awfull. In afternoon, I told housekeeping to come and rinse the water on the floor near the hot tub, 3 men came, brought used towels, and started by their foots and hands to remove the water !!! I've asked them if that is their way of cleaning ? They responsed that it's just temporary :). I told housekeeping about these matters in-order to fix it for the next day, they just say sorry and it will be better. In my opinion, the hotel wasn't well prepared to the pic time (3rd day of eid holiday ) - The next day we stayed at pool and went outside hotel, than came back evening to room. Around midnight, the lights starts to turn on alone, eventhought I turned off many times from the master push button near the bed (no switch in walls to turn it off). To be honest, this drove me crazy especially after calling the maintenance who first told me to remove the wire from the plug ( I did it and problem persists, lights turned on alone). Then I called them again, he said that there is no switch in wall or panel to diactivate the lighting control system, and his only solution is to come at 1:00am (everyone is sleeping) put a ladder upside the head of my sleeping wife and child and disconnect the lights, which I didn't accept at all. I am an electrical engineer, and I have worked in many residential projects like Hilton hotel. I would fairly say that this lighting control is badly engineered, an override switch should be located on wall and should bypass the malfuntioned lighting control push button, in case of my problem. On the next day, I called them from the morning to remind them about this issue, a gentlemen name Carlos told me that he will transfer me to another room (having a better view) for my last night. Third night was normal thanks god. I forgot to mention that nobody told me where and which time I can have my breakfast (which was included in my reservation) until I called them late in the first night. Usually, based on my past experience in different hotels, I should be informed about such things during check in time. Repeating what I have started, my children really enjoyed the pool and sea, but unfortunately my sleeping time inside the room wasn't really good. Hopefully my comments would be taken in consideration, Yours Sincerely, Mohammad iaaly

« Great 1 night stay »

I enjoyed my 1 night stay and received a very warm welcome from the Front Office team - Hazem and Dona who have been very hospitable and made the check in/out process smoothly. On another note, breakfast service staff are very few on a busy day - had to wait 20 minutes for the egg and no one asked for coffee until we almost finished eating. Otherwise, rooms and facilities are great and is perfect for people who want to relax.

« Excellent service, wonderful atmosphere, felt incredibly welcome »

The Sofitel was exquisite. My friend and I were chosen as the Guests of the Day, and we were treated with the utmost hospitality. The service was wonderful, and our comfort was the focus of the hosts. Their attentiveness was wonderful - they even noticed that it was my birthday, and sent a birthday cake to our room - such a wonderful, warm surprise that made the stay that much more amazing! The hosts went above and beyond what was expected and we loved every minute of our stay.

« Beautiful hotel and experience, the staff are great but totally overworked at busy times. »

Our only complaint is not enough tea or any fresh milk in our room. Took ages to get through to Room Sevice and housekeeping. Water is too expensive by the pool. Breakfast was lovely but not enough staff to deal with all the various requests from a busy breakfast time. One minor thing.... the new sign on the beach is awful. It lowers the tone of the hotel completely. Bad Choice Sofitel.

I booked Sofitel mainly to spend two days in the coolness of a pool in the middle of the hot summer. The water temperature of the pool was very disappointing and despite the fact that the recreation manger confirmed that it was to the max, it just wasn't cooling. I believe that Sofitel does not have pool cooling equipments compatible with the outside temperature and the size of the pool. Unfortunately it was a loss of money as I with my 2 daughters did not enjoy a single moment of fresh dip in the water. I have experienced much better stays in Bahrain in the same weather conditions at the Ritz and the Four seasons!
