« A secluded corner in paradise »

We spent the most amazing ten days at So Sofitel Mauritius and we could not fault it. The hotel has the most magnificent grounds and gardens which made me smile everyday. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, especially Gizmir in the hotel bar who made every visit a joy. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone, you couldn't not enjoy this place. Food at La Plage is outstanding, service could be a little slow but not a real problem when you are sat looking at a beautiful beach and bright blue ocean. The rooms are lovely, with sunbeds and an outdoor bath and shower. All are very private and not at all overlooked. My only recommendation would be to make everything in the minibar FOC - for AI guests so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer after coming in from the hot sun to cool down.

Staff very friendly and attentive....room spacious, bright and airy with added bonus of outdoor shower and bathtub. Gym small but adequate to work off all the wonderful food. Only negative minibar not restocked regularly and only with local products...all inclusive should mean just that including the minibar. Enforce the no smoking rule (there are signs) in the Takamaka bar.

It was a very nice and a peaceful holiday. The welcome was very nice and all staffs were very helpful, friendly, welcoming specially Brenda , Yogesh and Dipika. The food was very delicious nice and very tasty. It wasa peaceful and nice room especially if a family have adjacent rooms like we had 315 and 316 with a central door. The pool was very nice. The setting of the room was very nice for my sister's birthday. However, it would be nice there would be light all around the place and it would be better if there were benches around the hotel in the shades where someone can relax since the theme of the hotel is nature. Overall, nice place and recommendable place. No regrets

No words to describe this hotel, it is dreamlike, something you imagine, very relaxed, extravagant. Service is excellent from every member of the staff. They anticipate your needs and never failed to exceed our expectations. There aren't enough superlatives. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, well appointed. The property is gorgeous, perfectly located. The concierge staff makes perfect recommendations. The management staff is charming and gracious. Little surprises and treats show up in the room. From the moment we arrived it was perfect, we felt at home in this luxurious and indulgent hotel. It was a magical Wedding anniversary for us.

The rooms are great, there is everything you need from water and coffee supply to shower in the garden through the technology part. The parc where the hotel is built is beautiful, gardening is maintained properly there are many flowers. Maybe some big coconut fruits need to be removed from the personal room gardens as they are big. Two or three lights more next to the pedestrian zones would be nice to avoid issues due to reduced visibility. There are only two restaurants for lunch and two for dinner but it’s probably sufficient. We found the food very good and overall healthy and with good variety. In terms of provided service we’ve experienced some issues, e.g. waiting time and miss understanding often occurred. Once the managers were no longer in the bars or the restaurants, the employees had issues with providing proper service. It’s maybe a training issue. As it’s a 5- star hotel our expectations as a client was high. We had a lunch offered on our last day by the hotel to apologize for this issue. Generally in Mauritius people don’t recycle they also do not differentiate their waste, there are no bins to separate different types of waste. The same is in la Reunion island. Two magnificent small islands , Natural park places which are becoming a garbage disposal space.

Dear Sirs, I recently stayed with my wife at So Sofitel Mauritius which I chose to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We spent 10 nights checking in on 25th December and checking out on 4th January 2019. Despite the hotel’s location was great, nested in a very green area, regrettably the service level was far below the Sofitel’s standards (and even more so if compared to other Accor hotels we visited during our past vacations such us Fairmont Hawaii and Fairmont Dubai). The main reasons for that are due to poor management and disregard of client care. Just a few examples: - poor level of room cleaning and related services. On different days we found first lizards in our room and then also a stream of ants moving down a wall of our room and over our luggage and our clothes. This is so because housekeepers kept leaving the doors/windows open (we know that because we found the shower’s door to the internal garden open one time). - In room minibar was never properly refilled with complimentary items (the hotel offered, per day, two small bottles of water and juice and a bit of milk). We had several times to request refilling of frequently missing items. On one occasion items such as fresh juice to be kept refrigerated were left outside or door in the hot entrance garden. - restaurant le flamboyant: most waiters were not experienced and acted without any coordination, with frequent occasions where we were requested which drink we would order for various times and equally frequent occasions where we were left completely unattended with us having to stand up ourselves to ask for coffee or the bill etc.; buffet was really a no-go and calls for dramatic improvement in terms of (i) quality (e.g., spare food of the day before was often served the following day although cooked and presented in a different way) with a more international and palatable food offer, (ii) quantity (finished items were not timely replenished so that we often needed to take our meals at the opening hours) and (iii) basic hygienic requirements which simply did not exist (e.g. birds flying over tables and buffet dishes, often leaving their guano on chairs and tables -photo attached; food on the buffet not properly covered with jams, honey, yoghurt and cornflakes not dispatched in prepackaged boxes (i.e. those you can find in any medium to high level hotel) but rather offered in big glass pots often left open that had been there for ages and smelt old (likewise bread, croissant and sweets smelt stinky and were constantly humid); absence of minimum care to avoid guests being injured while taking food from the hot pots on the buffet (there was no warning that pots were hot and once I got my fingers burnt due to the absence of a napkin to lift the lid); - La Plage Restaurant: the quality of the food was better than that of Le Flamboyant, but service level was again unsatisfactory. We tried to reserve many times and were almost always told that the restaurant was fully booked. When we managed to dine there one night, a couple came in and asked for a table for two but was told that the restaurant was fully booked. This was not the case as we noticed that there were at least four other tables which were free and not even set for dinner (which demonstrates that the restaurant was not fully booked); some plates listed on the menu were missing but they did not tell until they were obliged to do so because we ordered exactly such plates); - Le Takamaka bar: unnecessary time to wait for a drink (except when Girish was around, see below); tables seldom cleaned; many items (e.g. rhums) listed on the menu turning out being unavailable; “questionable” drink preparation (we happened to see the barman pouring champagne in a flute, then - probably after realising that the flute was not clean - pouring back the same champagne into the relevant bottle, rinsing the (dirty) flute under the sink water and eventually pouring again the same champagne from the bottle into the rinsed flute) - Beach towels: service was lazy and most of the time we could not find beach towels until 9/10 am in the morning, which is annoying given that at such latitude sun arises very early and guests tend to do the same to enjoy the sun and the beach as much as they can; - Concierge: very often service was provided by one person only and hence long waiting times were quite common. Notwithstanding the above, we would like to express a special mention for Amisha, reception assistant and Girish, waiter of Takamaka bar. They were both great, very professional and always ready to help. So SOFITEL Mauritius has tremendous potential but in order to make the most out of it, a material change in the way it is managed is required, at least if they still want to attract clients. It's the first Accor Group Hotel we visited. Very nice experience at the Hotel. Delicious food. Amazing staff. Good Service. Except at La Plage Restaurant where we had to wait around 45 minutes to have a table for lunch, then another 45 minutes to have our food served. The staff seem not as professional as the ones at the main restaurant and at takamaka restaurant. We suggest that the Hotel serves lunch at the main restaurant as well.
