I cannot fault the cleanliness of the room ... however the corridors were filthy and the staff very abrupt. I did not receive a warm welcome on arrival which I feel if the staff had been more helpful and polite would’ve made the trip a bit more special. I had been emailed before the trip to ask for my room preferences such as floor level, did I want to be near the lift, did I want a shower or bath ... the only one that they did was to give me a shower. I didn’t feel that reception were approachable so I did not lug my suitcases back down to reception to query. Overall for a trip I had booked thinking it would be a nice luxury stay I think I would’ve been better to avoid this hotel, it has really gone down hill over the years and I will not be returning.

A very welcoming experience on a dreary day

I had a brief stay travelling between two holiday centres - it was a dreary day in Bristol, but the staff were warm and welcoming lifting what was otherwise just stop-over. I was upgraded to a premier room and made use of the lovely free-standing bath, which was delightfully relaxing.

We checked in smoothly and I had phoned ahead so wasn’t shocked by the car parking charges. The room was really large and comfortable, and all the staff were super helpful and made us feel very welcome with our 11 month old baby. It would have been good to know whether travel cots can be provided - information that wasn’t offered. The breakfast was superb!

I asked for twin beds I got a double. I explained my friend had not come, I was told I had already paid so nothing would be refunded. I know two twin rooms were unsold from the group booking people I joined for dinner. The shower in gym had rust an mould.

room was fine, not the best view but even though on main road there was very little noise. bed was comfy but pillows....... one was too low and two was too high but that was maybe just us. breakfast was ok, for a buffet staff everywhere were always excellent

Friendly staff and helpful. A few issues with the key not working, but sorted out ok. Maybe some of the very young children running around the bar at 11pm should have been dealt with, but everything very clean and a good stay. Lovely lady brought out lunch out from the bar. Nice helpful reception staff and friendly cleaning staff.

Had a reasonably good stay here. The room was large enough for a family, however the air conditioning was not working properly & the fan we were provided with made no difference to the room. Our first night was unbearably hot & none of us slept. 2nd night was slightly better. Great breakfasts both days. Friendly, helpful staff.

The air conditioning was set at the right temperature for a good nights sleep & it was not noisy. The bar was a pleasant friendly spot. The breakfast was good food & a huge variety to meet all tastes. The check in was quick & parking available was convenient & essential ( The £15 charge for parking was a surprise as not made very clear within the online booking process) your site says parking available but should say parking available at a £15 charge.... The tea & coffee facilities in the room were there but the provision of the coffee machine by the television (with the alternatives & sugar hidden in a cupboard I only found after breakfast) let me down. This should either be advised on check in or with a note by the coffee machine.......... The toilet flush buttons were very strange in that every time they first do not work but on second or 3rd attempt then do (Room 359).... Overall though room and stay very pleasant thank you.

Excellent location near to train, bus and the town centre. Room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was varied with different selections but same each day. The facilities were accessible and in good condition.

The TV's need replacing immediately

I stay at the hotel at least once a month and the TV signal and quality of TV sets is terrible. I'm not going to stay at this hotel again until they are replaced and upgraded and the signal is drastically improved - go digital.

The gym is tiny and not that well equipped, the changing room are tatty and only one shower, which didn’t look too great. I had dinner twice there and was very disappointed the pizza was certainly not worth £12 and the burger I had a couple of day later was well over cook and was not in the type of bun it was sold as. Oh and had no tv for three days

I'm 6 feet tall and like space. Mercure provides this for me in their bedrooms, which I find very satisfying. I'm tired of cranny like bathrooms. The service in the hotel is efficient. I noticed that some anti-social visitors had dropped quite a lot of garbage in front of the hotel, but it was cleaned up quickly. The breakfasts are excellent.
