it was fine.. other than I asked about parking options and was told it was free in most areas on Sunday night till 7am. I was parked across the road and showed the staff member a pic of the parking sign and he confirmed I was fine till 7am. Unfortunately 20 minutes later I received a $161 fine as it was a no parking zone. I would've happily paid $20 for overnight parking which is why I asked in the first place.

doesn't worth the value of money. With the same amount of money, I believe I'm able to get a better hotel such as Victoria Hotel. As I'm member of Accor Hotel group, I didn't get any additional benefits when I stay at that hotel. Not even a welcome drink.

« Selfish people in room 546 came back at 2.00am and talked top note »

I waited 15 minutes for noise to stop when it didn't I rang reception and the phone kept ringing for over a period of 10-15 minutes. At approximately 2.30am I got dressed and went down to reception only to find it unattended and a sign saying they would be back shortly, after another 15 minutes wait I returned to my room. I knocked on room 546 and asked them politely to keep it down. They stopped talking until I returned to my room. I was to get up at 4.00am so was pointless going back to bed. Waste of accommodation. I reported the incident to staff on leaving the next day

My niece and I wanted a place to stay in Melbourne that was convenient to the cafes, restaurants, shopping and transportation. Ibis Styles Kingsgate was an ideal choice. The price was reasonable and the room was basic but suited our needs. The updated bathroom was much appreciated. I did find that booking through the Accor Hotels reservation Centre as an ordeal. The lady on the phone was difficult to understand and I had to ask her to repeat herself several times. She had little knowledge of spelling basic words.

People at the reception should be trained to be courteous and friendly. Came at about 2am after the Australian open. I had to knock on the door for reception to open the front door. He wanted to know which room I was in and sounded bit rude.

Access to the hotel is granted through the use of room key card and/or the bell outside of the door. New room keys can be issued upon proper authentication of the guest identity. It was a good location and there are good staff. The concierge guys are particularly helpful. I will be going back but it was not perfect, the room was cool and the shower seemed to drain onto the bathroom floor.

Overall, it was a good stay although the room keycard did not work .... and only worked on the third try! Pleasantly surprised that they served congee for breakfast .. which was not bad, but could be better if they increase the number of accompanying condiments.
