I had a good stay overall - the location was very convenient for me and staff were super helpful. The room I was first booked into smelled really badly (of old smoke) and I asked to be moved after the first night, which staff attended to immediately. I loved the breakfast selection.

I lost my traveling documents before I arrived hotel. The hotel's staff (just about everyone) have been given me help at their best with very good attitude. Everyone including the staff in executive lounge, housing keeping, front desk... are all nice. Notably, Mr. YANG, Shao-Hua who accompanied me to the nearby police station for reporting the lost of travel documents and to immigration office for all the help he can is really appreciated.

Sadly the check in overshadowed everything else in the stay. Having booked a multi destination tour of China, I paid for all my hotel bookings only to find that the email the hotel had sent me saying the balance to pay was nil and that it was all paid was in fact just a guarantee. So after a long flight we are sat in the lobby unable to access banks due to not having a vpn and wanting to turn around and go straight home. There was very little assistance at all despite the fact they knew from my emails that I was terminally ill. I don’t speak Mandarin but learnt a few key phrases and had an English/Chinese translating app. Still not very helpful. So I ended up paying for the hotel three times-my bank eventually confirmed that the guarantee had fallen off the original card. In addition to this, the hotel automatically switch the currency paid to that of your card-hence making more money on the booking. I asked them to pay in the local currency as this was the whole purpose of using this card and it was £7 cheaper. Whilst I found that unsatisfactory the hotel was clean and modern. WiFi was very poor-kept pushing you out and then you couldn’t get back in. Breakfast was an interesting event-lots of steamed vegetables and an egg blunter where you could have omelettes made for you but I ended up having a few pieces of fruit as a lot of the dishes weren’t labelled and it seems the Chinese like to slip pork into everything. We ate one meal in the hotel which was rubbish. Absolutely rubbish and overpriced but we ate it because we were starving. My pizza was like a shop bought base with some sliced tomato, tomato purée and cheese on. Awful. My husbands starter and meal did not resemble the menu item and it took a long time for the meal to come. The room was comfortable, quiet, the air con was good. We didn’t turn on the tv. Shower was good and there was a hairdryer (we were on the executive floor.) The usual Grand Mercure shampoos and body lotion were available. Not far from Tianamen square and a ten minute walk to a shopping mall the location wasn’t bad. In fact our guide said it was a good location. The poor service overshadowed the visit, they are not set up for Western Tourists and they don’t want to accommodate them. I am not going to recommend this hotel to anyone else. I would not return here.

Good located hotel of European style and standard. All the needed facilities. Room was cleaned every day. Breakfast is really good, and contains European food. Very good location. Check in was made before the time. The only cons I would mention is deposit. I think it really outdated practice to block deposits.

We had a long stop over in Peking and decided to use a hotel close to city center. The hotel is overall totally fine, but might need some renovation in the future to keep the level. Staff was super friendly, special thanks to Georgie from front desk for helping with arrangements.

Having been used to the fantastic Accor standards of Grand Mercures in other cities, this one in Beijing Central was a complete let down for my family. My family travelled with me this time to have a vacation as I get some work done. This hotel in Beijing Central is old and shabby. We reserved for 6 nights. But after a night decided that this is not the place we would like to stay on a family vacation. We changed to Novotel Beijing Peace. It proved to be a great decision. This Grand Mercure Peace could be a decent hotel for business travelers but I would not recommend it for a family stay. It is old and shabby.

This is like many times staying at grand mercure central an expérience that i am looking for. The location is ideal for both work and. The hotel management is simply consistent and attentive from the front desk to the lounge where even your eating habit is remembered. The sport center is well equipped with a swimming and a gym, where you can meet up at the opening early morning the GM of the hôtel. The assistant Mgr will make you feel definitely welcomed and unique, in brief the best deal in town.
