Comfortable .good position in the city. Reception staff very helpful . Cooked breakfast only average .parking charge £20 p n on top of an expensive B&B rate excessive !!

Car parking at the rear of the hotel is an added bonus in the centre of Oxford and I am afraid we do charge an overnight fee to ensure a secure and safe car park, sorry. We had a room overlooking the main road and it was SO loud with traffic all night. All i wanted was a quiet sleep.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I am very sorry that you had a disturbed nights sleep, I am afraid Oxford is a vibrant city and fully of students, and being locate in the centre surrounded by the various colleges of the university it does become busy. The company has recently carried out a full survey of all the hotel bedrooms in particular the windows as when the hotel was renovated in 2015, it was only internally and the exterior was down as the next major project. I am afraid we have been sold since then and the new company has now completed its full survey of the portfolio of its hotel, the Mercure Eastgate being one of them. Our room was not ready when we arrived. There was no lift to our room and we were not informed prior to booking. The room was not sufficiently clean. One cupboard door was hanging off, the furniture was damaging in multiple places. Bedding and towels had dirty marks. The room was dusty. There was no ventilation fan in the bathroom. Dirty spoons were not replaced on the second day. I did not complain as I did not wish to spoil our special weekend as it was my son's graduation.The towels were poor quality and the bedding was old, threads hanging off etc. I was expecting a luxurious experience for this price, as the two night room only stay cost £490. I was really disappointed as I wanted to treat my son to a special hotel stay to celebrate his graduation.

I am very sorry and embarrassed that the bedding and towels in your were badly marked and not well presented. I have a fortnightly meeting with the area manager for the housekeeping company and will be addressing your concerns with her. We do encountered a number of challenges in Oxford, in the fact that we doas an industry struggle to recruit team members for the business, as Oxford is an expensive city and a lot of the accommodation is allocated for students, and we have recently had a large turnover of the team prior to the summer season, I do apologise. With reference to the furniture in the bedroom, my maintenance manager has visited the bedroom with myself and it would appear that a previous guest had used the desk door and top to open the tops of the bottle he had purchased. The housekeeper had failed to report the damage to the maintenance and front of house personnel, it has now been repaired. I am concerned at your disappointment and would welcome the opportunity to restore your confidence in the hotel. If in the future you are re-visiting Oxford, please do contact myself direct so I may assist with your reservation, upgrade your request and place a bottle of champagne in your room, with my compliments. The room (we had the suite) was very comfortable. However, the shower is small and the towels and toiletries provided were poor for a premium priced room. Breakfasts were chaotic (several guests getting wrong orders) and our poached eggs tasted of vinegar. The hollandaise on the eggs benedict was claggy. The restaurant is bee-themed but the only honey available at breakfast was in a Brakes catering squeezy bottle.

We were very happy with the overall experience. I especially loved the bar & the breakfast area, especially as this was a romantic trip and I loved the lighting in the bar, it was magical!! However one main problem - a fan went off at 5.30am when we were in a lovely deep sleep and rudely awoke us. It lasted for some time before it gradually lessened & stopped... however this did get us up early and breakfast certainly made up for that as it was delicious. The service also was delightful, cheerful staff, happy to help.

I am so sorry for the disturbnance that you encountered during your stay, I am afraid it was the fan which operates the flow of cold air into kitchen, and no-one had realised it was so bad until a couple of days later, when the whole system stopped and we had to shut the kitchen. The fan was totally jammed and not being mechanics we had not realised that the motor was about cease hence the noise, I am so sorry. It has now been rectified and running slowly and at a quieter sound and pace. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we trust you had a safe journey home. I am sorry for the lack of a heated towel rail, they were removed from the bedrooms when we did the refurbishment of the hotel in 2015 as they were a health and safety issue. The towel rails were heated through the hot water system and could become scoldingly hot, and for safety taken out. Ok breakfast good, reception ok but gave us a very small room with sloping ceiling above the bed, fortunately they changed to a slightly larger room but still with sloping ceiling but this time not above the bed car park very expensive £20 per 24hr.

Stayed for work, got a room 2 floors high with no lift. Ate at the restaurant and found the veg burger to be terrible. Had asked for a Nespresso machine and got a scaled up kettle instead. The welcome drink voucher is also pretty unusuable for someone like me who doesn't do beer or cheap wine. As a member of the hotel programme, I expect better. I choose to stay at Accor hotels but the next visit in Oxford will be elsewhere.

I am afraid the Mercure Oxford Eastgate is a samll hotel, ideally situated in the city centre, listed and surrounded by history. Due to the age and structure of the building, we are limited in the size of various bedrooms. I do apologise that there was no nespresso coffee machine in your bedroom, the hotel was extremely busy and we could not upgrade you on this aprticular occasion. The drinks vouchers do stipulate beer and wine as this is the offer throughout the world, however we do allow our guests a wider selection of drinks in our Keepers Kitchen and Bar. Good location good breakfast Pleasant staff Room 705 is very claustrophobic as it's window is too small which is a great pity I get the feeling that as I used an agent we got the worst room

Room was beautifully furnished, more than adequate space. Really lovely bathroom. Exceptionally quiet. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Really good choice at breakfast. Public rooms stylishly furnished. Good location. Would have been helpful to know that the lift did not go to the third floor.

I liked the hotel and the room was clean and nice. The breakfast was great and loved the cappuccino. The staff at the reception really does credit to the place. Alex was super efficient great check in and instructions with all necessary details were provided one of the best welcome I got in a hotel. Claudia was also very good at the check out. Thank you for my stay i really felt all our needs were accommodated including the requests for a extra bed for my toddler. I will be back again.

Hotel, tired decor like most Mercures- needs some TLC and redecoration. Check in excellent. Reception staff very helpfull, Evening staff in Keepers excellent especially Nelly who should get a raise Breakfast staff, not so good, we ordered our food on the last morning and had to wait 40 minutes including two reminders as other people who came after us were served before up Why do the question that are in the next part of this survey ask for a yes or no about would i have booked the hotel if not accor- i cant say yes or no as i might or might not depending on what other hotels are available give me an option to say "possibly" that is if you want honest and accurate answers

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I am very sorry and extremely embarrassed that the lift broke down on the day of your departure. The lift is regularily serviced by our nominated contractor and had only been service the previous week, which was annoying as it was signed back by the engineer as in a good state of repair. I am afraid when I checked with my maintenance assistant, the young man who was on duty on Saturday, if he had been informed of an issue with the toilet in your bedroom. He immediately went up to look at the toilet and apologies he had not been requested to do so before. I am concerned at your disappointment and I was pleased to note that my deputy had removed all charges on your account and that there was nothing to pay on departure, as an apology for the inconvenience of the lift and the toilet both malfunctioning. Hotel clean with good breakfast and attentive staff. Our room was on the third floor and was very hot with heat coming from the wardrobe/fridge area. Air conditioning was noisy so not a realistic option. Bed was comfortable however pillows were too firm for our liking

Very disappointing - especially at such a price

This was a one night visit with my sister from the USA. Something we had both looked forward to turned out not to be a good experience at all. My 72 year old sister, with arthritis, was given a room with stairs for access which we had not been warned about when booking. My experience was worse. The first room I was shown to had over half the window obscured by a very large and very noisy boiler unit. The window did not close. The alternative given were 1) a below level room filled with fumes and a view from the car park directly outside the window. 2) the other, that I had to take, was on the fourth floor. No lift. I am also in my 70s with arthritis. There was a stain on the coverlet and mould round the rotting windows. I have pictures of these. It felt like a room in a one or two star hotel at best
