Super-comfortable bed, lovely room (though still no drawers!), great large bathroom. A few details to point out: - carpet frayed at bathroom entrance: needs a bar put down to hold in place and stop further fraying. - bed turned down 1 night but not the other: not sure why the difference. - would have been nice to have an armchair for reading in, rather than moving the desk chair.

In about 36 hours I spent at the Francis, I had to get my key card replaced 4 times, before they checked the lock. Housekeeping took my used sola away, did not replaced it. The water bottle wasn’t replaced either. The young woman breakfast hostess kept asking my room number without listening to my question. I had asked for hypoallergenic pillows (on profile, booking and again at check in), but I got feathers.

Great hotel, great service and perfect location. Just slightly overpriced.

We only had one night on this occasion but, as always, The Francis provides a great location, supremely comfortable rooms and unrivalled staff. Lots of newcomers to the Bath market but The Francis is the one to beat in my opinion .

Location was excellent. Car park was appreciated, as weekends are horrendous. Amenities were excellent. Room was perfect, enjoyed the quirky wallpaper in the bathroom. Only negative was the steps from car park to reception.

From the minute we pulled up to the hotel, we were treated wonderfully. Our car was parked, reception couldn't-have been more accommodating, especially when they found out I was going to propose to my, now fiancé. The room was amazing. The bar staff and room service were attentive and helpful. Nothing was a problem to deal with. And when we left the original receptionist from Friday came out to see the ring, she remembered .. wonderful end to an amazing stay

We have stayed at The Francis approximately 4 - 6 times a year over the last 4 years, before that about twice a year for about 28 years (we had our honeymoon there). The hotel is tired, not as well kept (this was noticed over the last few months). The bedrooms are not as clean or looked after. I am a platinum member of Accor and we have seen over the last few stays not as much recognition for our loyalty. We are now given a packet of Thornton cookies instead of the beautiful Madelines we used to have. No attention to detail now.

It is disappointing to read your survey, most especially as one of our returning guests. On a positive note, we are delighted that the new owners of The Francis have on-going plans to improve the Hotel and the carpets and some of the bathrooms have already been replaced. We are expecting delivery of new furniture in the Lounge next week and ALL the rooms will be refurbed between February and March 2020. I was so sorry to read that you found the cleanliness of the room was not in keeping with our usual standards. I have spoken at length regarding your concerns with our Head Housekeeper who has asked to be associated with my apologies. I have also spoken with my Front Office team - they usually excel at welcoming and remembering guests and this has been disappointing to see that this didn't happen on your stay with us this time. At MGallery, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we have taken the appropriate measures to address the problems and prevent future occurrence. Generally a good experience. For your information and for improvement as it is a 4* hotel: Check in was fast, superior room/ensuite was good size. Room recently painted, smell was quite evident, we debated requesting a move due to this, but kept windows open from checkin onwards throughout our stay - we decided not to request a move in case we were put in a smaller room. Turn down service on first night but not on any of the other nights. The bottle of water placed on my side table had been opened and used by someone/previous guest so I obviously didn't consume it. As it was very warm, I removed the 'duvet' from the cover, however it wasn't a duvet but a mattress topper. Why was a thick mattress topper used in the duvet cover instead of a duvet? Cleaning services could have been better in my opinion, carpet could have been hoovered better, no toilet roll replaced on second day - my husband had to request from the cleaner. Breakfast had good variety. Cooked items were a bit rubbery by the time we were having breakfast, so I would suggest replacing items with freshly cooked items throughout the breakfast service. More fresh fruit options needed..whos going to eat a full pineapple? On checkout, we requested our luggage be securely stored until leaving Bath, however on returning to the hotel at 3pm our luggage was still in the foyer where we were instructed to leave it after the receptionist had put the tags on - over 3 hours of non-secured storage! We highlighted this to the concierge who appeared to think it was waiting to be brought up to our room. He then put our luggage in storage (we were not leaving Bath until 6pm) For a 4* there are areas to improve but overall a nice hotel and would recommend.
