« Great venue for a Xmas party »

Efficient check-in/check-out. Nice rooms. Would have been even better if bathroom floor and mirror were heated. Only thing missing from the bathroom was a shower cap (not sure if these are provided but, given that the shower in our room was one of these large fixed heads, not having a shower cap makes it difficult to avoid getting your hair wet). Not having covered access to the Tithe Barn does mean the possibility of getting wet during the walk from the hotel to the barn - perhaps the Hotel could have provided umbrellas? Nice breakfast and pleasant ambience and very close to Box Hill so easy to visit this to be able to take in the views from the top.

Lovely staff. However, when I asked for slippers for the bathroom this request was denied and I was advised that this was only available to 'premium' customers. This should have been made available to our room regardless of whether it was a 'Premium' room or not. I forgot to put the breakfast menu request on the door before sleeping. I called at 0900 and asked if this was still available as breakfast was on until 10:30, this request was again denied.

In our bathroom we had a bit of a ladybug infestation but as they are ladybugs we were not to bothered. The blinds in the bathroom were falling apart so we had to set up the towel with the ironing board to cover all the gaps. They need to be replaced immediately. The bed was nice and the room had alot of space but we were above the bar and could hear everything so did not get to sleep until after 2. As i didnt pay for the room and it was paid for via my company it was ok but i would not stay here again. The guy on the breakfast service was really nice and chatty so that made it a bit better

A pleasant stay with comfortable room and good dinner for two. A most unwelcoming reception area consisting merely of a low table and some computers. It was a little time before a human appeared to make us welcome.

Stayed overnight on the way to Gatwick. Enjoyed the stay. Much more relaxed than the Gatwick hotels.Good value for money. Enjoyed the evening meal, although portions were fairly small. Good breakfast!

We were very well catered for and the staff (other than Lesley on reception when we checked out) were brilliant and very helpful. The room was very cosy and breakfast was a feast on a frosty morning. We have already booked a return visit for next weekend.

A lovely hotel room. Beautifully decorated. Access to Function Room was not well-signed. Main hotel bar not manned at 11.00-ish (probably due to lack of customers!), though U was able to find the night staff-man pretty easily when required. Breakfast staff not “on the Ball” despite there not being many apparent guests at 8.30. I found the reception area a bit odd not having the usual long check-in desk.

The stay was not pleasant due to the room being infested with black ladybirds. They were in the room and bathroom, flying around, crawling on us and my daughter was freaked out so we all had very little sleep. The room was too hot and you could smell smoke from the smokers.

We did have a ladybird problem this autumn and tried many ways to clear our hotel of them, when we clean every room, we leave them with no ladybirds, unfortubmnately even in just a few hours, some have re-entered through vents etc. We are clear of them now and will have our pest control add preventative measures for the coming year. Lovely hotel, all the staff we met were very friendly & helpful. Room was clean & bed comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We were at a function in the garden room, the room was beautifully decorated for Christmas & the waiting staff were extremely helpful. We would love to stay there again.

Awful. Sound insulation in bedrooms is shocking you can hear everything from people in the next room to people walking in the hallway. We were placed close to a Christmas party with loud music. Ultimately it was the worst night sleep I have ever had and quite possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in.

Was very surprised to be woken just before midnight from reception calling my room asking if I had paid for a meal that we had in the hotel earlier that evening (it had been paid in full at the table) Would have thought this could have been dealt with in the morning upon check out (you had already taken a swipe of my card upon arrival). Seems very odd to call so late and wake guests up ?

Had checked in online, still had to wait over 5 minutes for our key whilst the only "receptionist" was on the phone in the back office, and didn't acknowledge us. When we got our key she seemed to assume we would know where to go. We had a garden room and head down in the rain we felt the signage could have been more obvious. We wanted a drink and a sandwich, again waited 5 minutes at the bar, no sign of staff, went to reception and were told they were in the kitchen and would be back shortly. Sure enough a barman appeared with sandwiches for other guests and then took or order. We assumed he was on his own until we saw two other staff members serving/clearing, we were surprised this meant the bar was left unmanned at times. Room (123) was fine, not new but not too tired, apart from some black staining (mould?) on the shower head which was a little disappointing. Didn't eat in the hotel in the evening. There was a large group in the hotel and the buffet breakfast was busy but pretty good, although the electric "hotplates" were struggling at keeping the quantities of egg & beans etc warm. We chose the hotel as its location was ideal for our visit. We might use it again for that reason but all in all we felt the staff were just doing their jobs, which happened to include interacting with us.

I stayed for two nights to attend a family AGM which is held at the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated but I was disappointed that there was no safe in my room. We had a meal in the restaurant which was very good and the staff very pleasant and friendly.
