The hotel itself was fine the bedrooms could do with updating but our room was clean and plenty of room. The most disappointing was the food at the wedding reception the starter was fine. The main course the pasta dish wasn’t editable. We didn’t want to make a fuss as we were guests of the bride and groom. We mentioned it to the waiter he said he would feedback to the new chef. The dessert one was cheesecake the people on our table tried it and left it. I noticed many others left theirs. Very poor considering how much is charged.

We stayed as guests from a wedding, with a 'special rate' but could have found the room cheaper on the internet. We had an 'upgrade', which appeared to be randomly selected amongst the guests who stayed. The bathroom door did not close properly and my husband had to kick it open from the outside. The telephone in the room did not work The bar service in the evening was poor with very few staff available.

We were visiting for a wedding from Scotland & travelled overnight we asked for an early check-in which we received no problem. The room & balcony overlooking the grounds was lovely bathroom quite compact maybe slightly more options on the cooked breakfast but overall a great stay

Housekeeping does a minimal job. Asked three times to have my room vacuumed. Never did. Clothing moths in the lobby bathroom. Cannot order room service food from the bar. Food selections should be available anywhere. Saw a cockroach in my room. Room and hotel are very dusty. Carpets look and feel grimy. Not clean.

Booked overnight stay as a Birthday treat for my sister. Chocolates left in her room with Happy Birthday which was a nice surprise. Very pleased with our balcony rooms. Bar and lounge area very inviting. All staff were efficient and friendly. Also enjoyed breakfast. Would definitely return.

My room was very quiet and comfortable, with a nice sitting area to relax in. The welcome was very warm, and all the staff were very professional. The breakfast was very satisfactory. I did not use the swimming pool, but it looked great.

We stayed at this hotel as my sister had her wedding there. The room was comfortable and the food was ok. Breakfast was disappointing as they quickly ran out of pastry’s and they wouldn’t make anymore. My husband went for breakfast later than me and I specifically told the man in the restaurant that he would be down later and he refused him breakfast as I had already been down luckily he did eventually have his breakfast. Breakfast made the stay less enjoyable.

Our stay was booked in order to meet up with 21 other people - a university reunion. Room was very nice. Bathroom rather small. Room was not serviced ....housekeeping got as far as the room next door but when we returned later in the afternoon our room was as we left it. Excellent breakfast. Staff generally efficient and helpful (apart from servicing the room). A shame that your charges for a private room for 22 of us to dine in on September 24 were so high....we went to the Running Horses instead and had an excellent meal there. Perhaps this is something that you need to address to avoid missing out on future business. Or perhaps you don't need the business.

We stayed four nights in a superior room. The room was quiet and reasonably comfortable. However, the corridor was dingy, and on one day there was a tray of food left on the floor all day. The room was also quite dingy and tired; there was too much furniture making it quite cluttered; the toilet had no seat cover for the first three days (!); room cleaning was absent for the first two days - we had to ask for new toilet rolls! When cleaning did occur on day three, our own flannel disappeared! The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant food was excellent, but very expensive.

Service was excellent. Staff very helpful. Room comfortable and nicely furnished. Only problem was noise coming through from room above (I was in room 100). Floorboards squeaked badly from above and withadded banging about it sounded like there was a elephant in the room. Made worse by fact it started around 11.45 pm, just as I was trying to get off to sleep.

Its a nice place. Receptionist nice. Bar is nice, Rooms are nice.. but beware. While we were upgraded to a privilege, that came with a snag. there was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration going on. right at around 6, the nice quiet bar where we were eating went from quiet and cosy to full and noisy. it got worse from there. our room was nice. but the problem was it was also about 30 feet from the party room for the wedding anniversary. the music was loud and went till midnight. when i asked in the morning why they did not put guests of the party in that room and give us rooms further away, i was told there were not rooms further away. well. i had take a walk around and that was just wrong. our window looked directly back at the party room. i was not the only one that was unhappy by the situation as there was another man checking out, who also had the same issue. advise to hotel. be more careful to place guests at the far end of the property when they are not part of the party that is happening.
