« Very well organised and supported. »

I organised a meeting room for half a day. Everything I requested was in place when I arrived. I had forgotten to request a projector and asked for one at short notice. The team couldn't have been more helpful.

Good old fashioned hotel, a bit creaky, warm and enjoyed breakfast. Disappointed with basic room washing extras as no shampoo and soap in room, reception sent up a very small shower gel and tiny soap.

Bathroom was dirty, lots of hair in towels, hotel staff just walked into our room despite DnD sign on the door. Luckily we were out all day and only in to sleep at night, but we were really expecting more from this hotel. Next time we come to Banbury, we’ll probably stay somewhere else.

« Good overall, but a few niggles which were enough for me to speak to the reception desk and make comments to my work colleauges. »

Positives were clean sheets, a nice dressing gown, water and in-room drinks and biscuits. Room service dinners on both nights were tasty and well presented. Negatives were no heating in the room and I had to call reception to turn it on. Being charged for a expensive gin without being asked, simply because the bar ran out of the standard gin option. Thin and tiny bath towels. And a greasy smelly cushion on the bed. My welcome card had someone else's name on it.

I booked two rooms. One of them had no functioning heating - and the temperature outside was about 3 degrees C. The radiator in one room looked unsafe, with wires hanging, so no one dared to try to fiddle with it. We insisted on being moved as my mother is 88 years old and cannot stay in such conditions. Our second pair of rooms was much better - thanks to the initiative of the young Italian employee on reception. However, the next morning between 7.30 and 8am the water for bath/shower was barely luke warm in both our rooms. Very poor maintenance in the hotel, lets it down.

My 1st stay at the Banbury House. Was put into room 113. A terrible smell of musky dampness hit me on entering the room. I mentioned the smell to the receptionist and she said that somone had been in that room the night before and had not complained. I asked her if someone could go up and spray the room with freshner whilst I was out at dinner. I came back later on and nothing had been done. So, had to open the window, which faced onto a busy road. Didn't get much sleep. My fist and last stay at the Banbury House!

Over the last few years the tea in the room has gone from a selection of Twinings teas (inc. Earl Grey which is my preferred drink of an evening) to cheap tea. I did ask the receptionist for some Earl Grey tea bags but they never appeared. Also the TV which is an essential when away on business is antiquated. The remote is so basic and the EPG is unusable, poor by todays standards.

Your hotel has charm, however, it is very dated with worn out carpet and furniture. Because of that, it didn't feel clean. The front desk attendant was not very friendly. A bartender was not available in the bar, however, your restaurant was good and servers friendly. Thank you.

Sadly for guests with mobility problems the lift to our room was accessible from outside the hotel. Having to mingle with job interviewees and attendees at the AA training centre was less than satisfactory. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

I accidentally left a pair of red braces in my room. I telephoned the hotel three times to ask if they had been found. On each occasion I was told someone would phone me back. No-one did. I phoned a fourth time to say no-one had returned my call, despite the promise I would receive a call within an hour. I was then told that housekeeping had not reported finding any property. I had little confidence in the veracity this and thought it was said to 'fob me off'. I am convinced the braces were left in my room, and that I failed to see them when left, as I had probably left them on the sofa, which was a very similar shade of red.
