« My wife and l would definitely book again. »

We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially the elderly waitress who looked after us at breakfast time. We were a bit disappointed at the very limited choice on the dinner menu. What we did choose, however, was very good but expensive. The hotel location is ideal for exploring Banbury, which, we think, is a wonderful town. It has everything.

« Very badly in need of refurbishment, decor, quality of food and cleanliness very poor »

I paid for an upgraded room as there was limited availability in Banbury, it was spacious but badly in need of refurbishing. There were 2 TV's neither of which worked. I didn't use the shower as the smell from the drain was dreadful. I ate dinner which was only a chicken salad, I have a food intolerance and options were limited, the salad was drenched in a dressing and was almost all salad leaves and a few strips of mango. I ordered a side of chips and the cost was extortionate for what it was. Breakfast was buffet style and I had just a slice of tomoato and mushrooms, the bacon was fatty and had been out on the buffet some time. All in all I would certainly not stay there again, Thelift and public places were dirty and looked as though they had not been cleaned for some time. The only positive I could highlight was the attitude of the dining room staff which was good. I have used other places in Banbury and this was one of the worst.Very dissatisfied when the cost was over £150 just for bed and breakfast.

« All good. »

I am 6'4" tall so the 2nd floor accommodations require a great deal of "minding the head". I would like to make future stays in areas of the hotel that are less hobbit-esque.

« Rooms need urgent refurbishment. »

I Chose this hotel because of its XVIIth century past. I instead found myself inmersed in the Seventies... of the XXth century. both rooms were located in an adjacent building, with very poor insulation, "vintage" furniture, and toilet flush only randomly working. (I asked for a fixing on the 1st night, but received no solution, so I ended up using the trash can as a bucket to flush!!!!) Very, very dissappointing. would definitely not recommend this establishment.

« Overnight stay on way to the Lakes »

The reception staff were excellent. Friendly, efficient and helpful and helped us find places to eat in Banbury as the hotel restaurant closes at 9pm and we arrived at 8.50pm. I'd booked a double room in error and she kindly offered to change to a twin as I was with my son. It's a lovely period building and my only "Complaint" would be that we were placed in the modern extension. However the room was good, comfortable and well equipped.

« Historic Hotel with helpful staff »

The age of the hotel does not allow for elevators and the floorboards groan but its an atmospheric hotel in an excellent location for the town, easy to get to and convenient parking, although the entrance is rather narrow (suitable for coaches but less for 4x4 :-)

Dear 906williamsi, Thank you for your stay with us. I'm happy to read your feedback and thanks for highlighting some of our features as location and car park. In the main section of the building we don't provide a lift since the original building is from 1600s and is listed. Although we have a lift located in the new section which is connected to the historical one through internal corridors. Once again thanks for your stay and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Francesco Malcangi Reception manager

« Disappointing »

On entering room it smelt very musky, like it had not been used or aired in a long time. Room was very large but needs a good update.Wall paper coming off in places. Very small television in this day and age not good enough with amount they are charging for the room. They left one dressing gown on bed as we were paying for two people could not understand why just one. Room was also cold and no heating was on. We had to also had to go out side to get into separate building to get to room. Entrance to the car park is very narrow, with large car would not even like to try. Plus very hard to park when you get in there. Plus you need code to get out, which they did not give us on reception so had to park up and walk back to reception to get it. Could have had better room at the Premier Inn.For less than half the price. Staff were friendly. But would not stay there again.

« Pretty good, lovely staff »

The hotel's a little old fashioned and the room was sweltering when we arrived, but it was clean and well appointed, and the staff were great. Maybe you should stop calling it the "new" wing now though, ha.
