« Basic hotel, nice breakfast, great location. »

The hotel room was basic but with a decent view of the garden. The breakfast we had in the morning was nice however we did not have an evening meal there as it was quite expensive and the menu wasn't that big. Me and my boyfriend ordered a drink each just after we got there and drank it outside which was nice however was quite expensive. Great location, plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops all within 5-10 minute walk.

The room was plenty big enough but the furnishings fairly basic. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very hot and had no air con or fan and the window opening was restricted for safety so little air could get in. The lift in the wing that we stayed in (Garden suite) was very old and small. The whole place felt as though it hadn't been updated since it was built. Disappointing overall.

It was a lovely, cozy and cute stay at a rustic old but lived happy hotel with the kindest of staff like Gianluca and his colleague; comfy room with a cutest gardenview window and bathroom, lovely bar and bartender, safe parking, lovely Banbery as a starting point to explore the region and so centrally located.

Good choice for breakfast. Pleasant staff. Room was clean and everything you need but it was far too warm even with the fan which was provided!

Room very nice. Staff very nice. Bar very expensive and service hampered by the layout of the bar itself. Breakfast was a big let-down, the quality of food being nowhere near what it should be for £92 a night. Hotel has a slightly tired feel about it.

Overall a pleasure. The rooms were fine except for the heat and lack of fans. The dinner food was very good. The breakfast service was strained when another tour group was also in residence such that the buffet was poorly supplied. Staff was helpful to the extent possible.

Easy to find in the middle of Banbury, Giving lots of options for dinner - but the hotel is very dated for the price. Feels how a hotel was maybe 15 years ago.

« Poor room, poor tv »

The hotel was quiet and yet I was placed in a room down a long corridor, up 4 flights of stairs, another long corridor and 2 more flights of stairs. I get the need to use all rooms when busy but being dumped in a room like this when the hotel was obviously quiet is poor. Again, like my previous visit the TV signal stopped and the system used makes browsing a guide or channels impossible. On check out the lady on reception didn't ask how my stay had been or really talk at all.

Bit disappointed that I had a twin room as opted for a free upgrade which I didn’t get . Bearing in mind it was 30 degrees , I could not turn the towel rail off in the room so was very hot indeed . Staff lovely as usual

I phoned on the day before our arrival to enquire whether there was a room available with a walk in shower. I was told that one of the disabled rooms was available which had a step up into the shower. I said this was fine. I asked whether I needed to book a table for dinner on the Sunday evening and booked a table for 7pm. When we arrived at the hotel we were shown to the disabled room which did not have a shower just a shower over the bath, it also smelt damp. The receptionist said that the room with the shower was booked out. We were shown to room 115. On arrival at ther restaurant for dinner we were told that they were not taking bookings as they had a party arriving.

Tv not working in first room gave us another room at the top of hotel. Evening meal food was good service was awfull with warm white wine dirty cheap glasses and a blase attitude. Goodbye mercure we will never stay in one of your hotels again.y

Check in and out staff were excellent. Room was clean and ok. Hotel bar is a little dated in its decor and the breakfast looked excellent but was only warm. That said I would stay again.
