My friend and I wanted a hotel which was convenient for a few days break near the Cotswolds. Whately Hall was ideal. The staff were extremely pleasant and our room was very comfortable, we slept very well and had a lovely view over the garden. May be the room could benefit from a touch of fresh paint but everywhere was spotlessly clean. The food was very good and the waiter at dinner was very attentive. Free, secure parking was a big bonus.

Hotel very nice, room rather "tired" and in need of updating.

Very pleasent hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and professional. However, our room was rather "tired": There were cracks and other signs of wear and tear on the bathroom tiles; The blind in the bedroom could not be fully raised; The bath was stained and when the bath was run water leaked out from the handheld shower attachment. This could not be adjusted as the knob to isolate the shower attachment was missing; The bed was made up of two sinlges attached together, this meant there was a rather uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed

My check in experience was excellent. The receptionist was extremely efficient, helpful and friendly. Room was a little tired, but perfectly adequate and spacious. It was a 2 roomed suite which was nice but maybe a TV in the bedroom would have been nice. Very quiet in the evening but service again was good. Quality and service of breakfast good

Handy and welcoming

Nice to have been upgraded, though we weren’t actually told as much before being handed the key. Breakfast would have been a lot better with decent bread, at least something more wholesome as well as the Mother’s Pride style white and brown.

Comfortable and friendly

Reception and Breakfast staff and fare were good but let down by room experience and staff

Customer review rating 4.0/5

Nalini Families - 08/08/2019 AccorHotels review

We were greeted well and reception was cheerful and very helpful, particularly Jaime. Breakfast fare was good and the staff were helpful always. Our room felt dangerously insecure, as the rusting windows could barely be locked securely, nor opened comfortably. Ours led onto a terrace that was easily accessible for intruders. Our room cleaner repeatedly left us without towels, particularly inconvenient once when we returned at midnight. To cap it, on our final day, she removed my own soap from the basin and left no soap there at all. I am very sorry to say that I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. I feel that the management needs to sort out its training processes, and perhaps not coast on the corporate and wedding events. My final complaint is that there is no attempt to recycle, or save water. Even when I left my towel hanging it was cleared away and I do not accept the explanation that staff are told to change towels if they are wet. Towels are essentially going to be wet if used; this is not done in most parts of the world.

What a wonderful Hotel in a excellent location in the centre of Banbury. The Staff were friendly, polite, attentive and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean the bed was firm just how I like . The breakfast was excellent, plenty of variety to choose from full English to fruit, cereal, toast. Juices tea coffee Overall it was a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel

Completely Unsanitary & Bedbugs

Customer review rating 4.0/5

Anonymous Couples - 06/08/2019 AccorHotels review

The room we stayed in was off utter poor quality. It was not clean, the carpet stained and our room had bed bugs. My husband was completely covered in bites and we barely stayed in the room for 8 hrs (checked in at 1am and woke up to leave before 10am) and did not even shower before we left due to the poor standards of the room. Have had to completely wash and dry clean everything that was in our luggage and have our suitcase cleaned. In addition the "free parking" carpark is not even wide enough to fit our car so we had to park in the pay for park. The receptionist told us when we arrived that the meter starts running at 10am so when we went to move the car in the morning, we found our that we had received a £80 parking ticket as the meter actually started at 8am. We would have been better off taking a taxi back to London than staying the night

Barely adequate accomodation.

Cleanliness of room could have been better. Carpets would have benefitted from a vacuum and while the bed appeared to be freshly made, we discovered many HAIRS between the sheets! Receptionist was very helpful and apologetic and came up and remade the bed.

Marie C. Couples - 30/07/2019 AccorHotels review

The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was clean and tidy however the room was unbearably hot and the cheap fans in the room made no difference. The bath towel was very small i`m a size 12 and it barely covered me. The breakfast was ok but not good quality produce considering the cost very cheap bread, tinned mushrooms and sour fruit with no honey to put on your yogurt and fruit. There were no glasses for the juice at one point and the poor member off staff who appeared to be on her own was running around trying to please all the customers with tea and coffee as well sorting things that had run out. Staff should be praised at this hotel as its this that made our stay more enjoyable.
