« A gem of a hotel! »

Stayed here with a friend to celebrate our 50th Birthdays. What an absolute gem of a hotel. The beauty of the old building both inside and out was delightful. The staff were courteous from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is fantastic. Just a short walk to the RSC theatre, the river and museums, and surrounded by the most lovely shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The beds were so comfortable and breakfast in the morning was lovely. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will certainly be visiting again.

« Pleasant except for difficulties with the plumbing »

I was unable to adjust the temperature of the bath water. I turned everything that could be turned but the water remained too hot. In the end I had to pour glassful of cold water from the washbasin into the bath to make it possible to get into it! You can understand that at midnight and with no clothes on I didn’t feel able to call assistance. I have had trouble before in this hotel with bath taps. At the end of a long day all I want is to step into a soothing warm bath. Also the fan in th bathroom was deafening. I know there has to be a fan but do they really have to make such a noise?

Great location, nice room, friendly staff. Only niggles, just one milk in room, only earl grey teabags, no tissues or hygiene bags and only 3 of the 5 bulbs in the main light were working. Also pillows very hard.

« Welcoming customer focused staff but a very “tired” hotel »

All staff welcoming and customer focused. Problems in the room(122). Window didn’t fully close and secondary glazing missing. Bathroom extremely cold and both the floor and the bath itself were too slippy to use. Bath plug was stuck so couldn’t empty any water easily. Lost a nights sleep unfortunately as so cold. Downstairs public areas much better with lovely open fires and a cosy bar.

« Absolutely wonderful from arrival to departure. »

On arrival the staff were courteous and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were amazing, had a fabulous nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and again the staff were courteous. Sitting by the log fires was so comforting and homely. Will certainly be staying again.

Stayed in the Suite, so an expensive room but all the furniture is cheap covered chipboard that’s already falling apart. Ie doors coming off the cabinet which homes the mini fridge, the 4 poster bed had already had random brackets added to hold it together. In the bathroom the towel holder above the bath was lose, the coat hook on the back of the door also, and the seal on the shower screen was already split, yellowing and hanging down into the bath. The room was very dusty! I wrote my name in all the lamp bases it was that bad! No milk for the tea and coffee either all weekend. When online checking in there is a space for anything the hotel should know. I put that my partner has a Nut, Kiwi, and mushroom allergy. On our arrival there was chocolates in the room, which contained nuts! The bed sheets were too small for the bed with the base sheet not even covering all the mattress. There were glasses, plates etc left in the corridors, sometimes for more than 2 days before being picked up.

Lovely clean Hotel, and staff were very helpful and pleasant. Great breakfasts. very central and all interesting places within walking distance. As a family of 6 people we were made very welcome for our three night stay over the new year. Managed to get 2 spaces in the Hotel car park and stayed there for the duration. My only complaint was ONE biscuit wrapped in cellophane on the first morning and NO biscuit on the second morning. Most hotels that I stay in provide a packet of three biscuits to have with early morning tea/coffee. The tissue box in our bathroom was empty for the duration of our stay. Lovely log fires around the hotel especially in the Bar and the lounge area. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay.

A beautiful hotel right in the centre of town. Front of house staff were all excellent. Room 106 was so atmospheric with wonky walls and sloping floors, a very comfortable bed and a pleasant bathroom (although I was a little disappointed with the complimentary toiletries, (2 shower gels and a shampoo, no tissues etc.) I would also have appreciated bath sheets rather than bath towels. Breakfast was adequate but plentiful. It would have been nice to see the fires lit in reception. We had an excellent meal in Marcos on the Sunday evening. All in all a pleasant experience and if we visit Stratford-upon-Avon again we will stop here.

We asked for Room 230, as last year. We got it. We asked for sheets and blankets and twin beds and all this, along with disabled parking, was confirmed by you in writing before we arrived. The bed was made up as one King-sized bed (two singles joined together). On arrival day, we turned down the bed at 11pm and found a sheet to lie upon and then a blanket. No sheet in between. Impossible! Fortunately the night manager calmly and efficiently brought Queen-sized sheets and blankets (two of each needed to cover the whole bed). Second night the big bed became two singles but now both sheets were put together to lie upon and a again no sheet to cover us. So we had to remake the beds. Third night the beds were made up correctly BUT my wife noticed a lump at her side and found her cardigan and scarf under the bedclothes! Unbelievable but true. Again we complained at reception but the beds were not correctly made up with clean sheets and pillow cases until our fifth and last night. Clearly your foreign chambermaids have not been trained properly. We were not offered a morning paper on arrival but the breakfast manager got us The Times 0on the second day and said we'd get it every day. We did not receive it again. We had asked for disabled parking weeks before we arrived. A spacer was reserved in our name, but not a disabled space with room on either side. A receptionist had to be called to help us with parking. The food was not bad overall but the price of the Christmas Dinner was exorbitant. Other people said this too. The most efficient and helpful people in the hotel were Vincent and his brother in the restaurant. We booked for 5 days. We shall have to consider whether we can cope with coming to your hotel again.

The room, 114 was comfortable and as expected as we have been in the room on other visits. A few problems with the bathroom again. Very noisy extract fan, poor supply of toiletries ie 6 body lotions but no shower gel or shampoo! Loose shower fitting which fell off bruising my foot, it was quite heavy!

The floor of our room was wet, as if a bucket had been spilled during cleaning that morning. This gave the room an unpleasant smell and meant we had to keep our shoes on during our entire stay. Although the entrance to the hotel is very nice, our room, breakfast and general stay felt very budget and much more like a 2 or 3 star hotel. We’d have been better off staying in a Holiday Inn.
