« A country gem yet so close to town »

Welcome arrival, public areas very atmospheric whilst bedrooms modern and up to date. Staff very helpful, lunch in bar and breakfast very good. Dinner in restaurant disappointing, meal and all sides of vegetables cold. and staff disinterested. Otherwise all round a lovely stay so may consider staying again as perhaps just unlucky at dinner.

« A little bit tired and shabby. Didn’t feel special. »

I had booked an overnight spa break for myself and a friend who had come down from Scotland. The place looked on the outside beautiful. No welcoming atmosphere in reception. We were placed in the stable block which was a shame as you have to go outside then back in through reception to get to the spa. Asked the spa staff for a price list for a pedicure they didn’t have one said they would email it across they never did. Room toilet seat cracked, bathroom door handle fell off thank god no one was in the toilet. We couldn’t shut the bathroom door for the rest of the stay (reported to reception) and lots of cobwebs on ceiling. Good breakfast and choice.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful. I had to ask for another bed for my daughter as I had booked for 2 adults and 3 teenagers but there was only a double bed in the second room but it was sorted very quickly .

Hotel was much to warm with no cooling. I had housekeeping bring three fans to my room and the only way to cool the room was with the windows open. Not preferred at night.

When we arrived it took almost 1/2 an hour to book in. They did apologise but really the service was not good. They kept ringing house keeping to see if the room was ready - this went on for ten minutes until one of the reception staff had to go there physically to find out. The room was meant to be a superior room as I paid a little extra. The room had coffee stains up the wall. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was actually two single beds connected together which meant there was a line you could feel down the centre of the bed. We went to the pool and it was not clean or hygenic. Whilst sat in the Jacuzzi there was actual clumps of hair floating around. Whilst the grounds are impressive and I really liked the bar and the breakfast I have to conclude that the room was unclean, shabby and uncomfortable...not a superior suite too and the health facilities let me down especially hygeine.

our room was huge and had a lovely outlook, very clean and everything we needed. Food great in the bar, breakfast great too. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner so unable to comment on that. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall can`t fault this hotel and only given 9 as didn't have dinner so cant rate that

« Fab hotel let down by staff »

I loved the hotel , it is a beautiful building. My room was lovely but very warm and stuffy. It was very clean. The Staff in the bar are exceptionally slow, not just 1 in particular but all of them. Nicki (im pretty sure that was her name) on reception was welcoming and very efficient, check in took 2 miutes ! The food was fantastic both in the bar and at breakfast.
