Breakfast from hot food bar that wasnt hot and plates cold was bit better second day but still not hot, too much food prepared at a time must be lot of wastage as trays still full at 9.20,breakfast finished at 9.30!

« 3 For 2 Perhaps Not...... »

Albeit I booked the hotel in August of this year and on arrival at the hotel on the 30th of November 2018. Where upon my partner was informed that due to the early booking we had qualified for the 3 for 2 deal. It was not reflected on the final bill and when booking out the receptionist in that instance told me that the deal had lapsed and was not applicable to me. The billing system was/is a bit chaotic and very difficult to understand. However the majority of the staff were extremely courteous and very professional. The food was fantastic and the amenities excellent. I paid the excess just in order to leave. Having been promised that I would receive an email explaining the excess amount on my bill. I'm still waiting...... :(

« A very enjoyable three-night stay in pleasant surroundings. »

Our room was generally comfortable, but hot water was not always readily available, the lighting was rather dim and the duvet was too hot. However, the quality of food was extremely good, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

It was our 40th Wedding Anniversary and a good friend recommended this hotel. All I can say is that we had a fabulous stay and can’t thank the Staff enough for their care and consideration. Super hotel, super Staff and sunshine all the way. Thank you for making our stay special.

Quick overnight on way to Wales.Privilege room 49 was spacious - Use health club car park as there is also a closer access in to hotel by key card at rear. Room well equipped including bath/shower mat.Bar manager was very helpful with directions and drink recommendations.Using late check out, I was not happy to be called at 12.15 to be told " just to let you know check out is at 11am!" In a very condescending tone!Beautiful setting for hotel with good outdoor area for warm summer days

My wife and I enjoyed our recent stay at Shrewsbury. I would like to suggest an extra rad. would be a welcome improvement in the bathroom towel rail only is not warm enough. The Spa was very good lovely size pool. Meal in the evening could have been a little hotter.Lovely location.

This hotel is set in beautiful surroundings . Staff are helpful and warm. However there was a twenty minute queue to check in and there were mistakes with our bill which included bills run up by another guest. The shower had to be repaired and this was done very quickly by a superb maintenance man ( 5 stars for him.)On the positive side our room was spacious and the building itself had real style and comfort. Food average.

The property and facilities were very good but the service in the bar restaurant and quality of food was sub standard. The waiter struggled to get our order right and we had to correct it on about 3 occasions and when the food arrived it was pretty poor in terms of taste, quality and heat. Was expecting more for the prices being charged.

Great hotel with really helpful staff in super location. Some of the rooms are excellent but others have poor ventilation. Booking in th restaurant is difficult and they seem to get overstretched. Check in is friendly but too slow. You have to see the bigger picture at this place otherwise the little things will spoil it for you. Gym is super . One of our favourite retreats thanks to Angela and Becky.

Overall looking shabby and noise levels around the bedroom were significant. I know the hotel was full but this is not the standard we have come to expect over many stays. Breakfast seemed unprepared for the number of guests so we were kept waiting for staples such as bacon

Excellent, well appointed, quiet and comfortable room. All food well prepared and presented. Hot and tasty. Amenities very good and clean. All Staff- Reception, Restaurant, ( breakfast and dinner), Cleaners, professional and extremely friendly and helpful. We also had the pleasure of meeting the Manager, a charming lady, and we complimented her on the excellent staff and service.

This was our second stay at the hotel, arrived at around 2pm and was greated by a very polite man on reception who asked if we had a good journey while checking us in, which was a breeze amd was over in 10 minutes maximum. We were in the Lake View section, which was a short walk from reception and the hotel bar. The room was lovely and spacious, with a giant bed and large bed. Room had standard facilities (tv, kettle, mini fridge) as we were in a privilege room we also had a pod coffee maker, and our frideg was restocked daily with still, sparkling water as well as a can of Fanta & coca cola. The only downside was the temperature in the room, as the hotel doesn't have air conditioning the rooms can be very hot and a little uncomfortable, fans were proved which helped. Adding in some a/c on the next hotel refurbishment would be a great improvement. Beds were lovely and comfortable, pillows were a nice mix of soft and firm, and once I found the righy combination I slept very well. We booked a deal that included Breakfast & a 3 course evening meal. Both of which were lovely. The dinner menu was lovely with plenty of variety, as was the wine list. (if a little pricy) the meals on offer changed daily and were always of top quality. The staff were all lovely and welcoming making sure to clear away our finished plates quickly. I must draw special attention to Joanne who worked the Oak room for all our evening meals. She was very welcoming on arrival/leaving each night, wishing usba good nighy and asking if we required tap water. when we were ready to order she did so quickly and made note of our special requests. She recommended a lovely Argentinian red to go with my meal on our final night as well. The breakfast was just as delicious with plenty on offer both hot and cold, the staff made sure we had plenty of tea or coffee. The gentleman welcoming everyone was very pleasant as well, (can't remember his name). And placed us at the same table by the window each morning, as well as asking how the previous day went. Made use of the gym while we were there as well and found the air conditioned gym a great relief from the warm weather.

« Lovely spot, shame about the view. »

The room was compact and comfortable, disappointingly the view was over a roof, none of the lovely grounds could be seen. I was on business so not too drastic. If I was on a break I would have been upset. I did not eat in the hotel as the food was expensive and the drinks extortionate, particularly the wine.

Stayed for 3 nights, 2 on All Inclusive, given a poor quality room. Staff not aware of how All Inclusive worked, made to feel second class. Restricted menu especially when staying 3 nights. Spa let down when bookings made in advance and them cancelled couple of days before stay to find other couples had retained their booming. Treatment times cheated booked 50 minutes only received 35 minutes and neither spa or reception wished to address.

The spa facilities and the room were very good. The staff are excellent and in particular the receptionist who checked us out was fantastic. However, the whole experience was slightly downgraded by the quality of the food - we had lunch, dinner and breakfast and each meal was disappointing. The lunch quality of the sandwiches and the fillings was so poor that we couldnt eat one of them. The dinner choice was good but the vegetarian dish, as in so many places, was bland and dry - with little effort made to make it taste of anything and the vegetables were over cooked. The breakfast was exceptionally poor value - £15 for one mini croissant, 1 half bowl of cereal and juice. The food would put me off staying here again as the idea was a spa weekend and not to have to get in the car and go offsite at every meal.

The room that we stayed in was beautiful and the bathroom superb except that it was not possible to close the curtains or blinds properly. The setting of the property is superb. There was a wedding on during our visit and this interfered significantly with the service we received particularly in the bar. The breakfast was excellent. Our biggest criticism was the lack of a lift in a hotel of this supposed quality. This was made worse as there was no attempt whatsoever to help getting our luggage to the room.

Welcome arrival, public areas very atmospheric whilst bedrooms modern and up to date. Staff very helpful, lunch in bar and breakfast very good. Dinner in restaurant disappointing, meal and all sides of vegetables cold. and staff disinterested. Otherwise all round a lovely stay so may consider staying again as perhaps just unlucky at dinner.

« A great place for a break »

We stayed 4 (snowy) nights in a lovely room on the top floor of the main building, overlooking the lake. Comfortable good-sized bed, and excellent breakfasts - the best cooked bacon I have had at a hotel for a very long time. Reasonably priced and good quality bar food. The only thing to be aware of is there seems to be no lift to the upper floors in the old building - just a beautiful wood cantilevered staircase with 6 flights to the top.

The location is good we're vegan - the options were pretty poor... our room was nice but cold...not enough heating the spa is very nice but the pool was cold the staff were very helpful but one or two judgmental looks I thought because we were a little differently dressed probably wouldn't go again
