Very relaxing and enjoyable. All the staff we encountered were extremely polite and helpful. One member of staff told us that on our final night they were short-staffed, but we would never have known from the excellent service. The room was reasonably comfortable, but we were surprised that there was not a Bible in our room, which we have appreciated in many other hotels. The food was generally very good, especially the delicious evening meals we had from the set menu, although the quality of the cooked breakfast could have been better. We enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi, although a couple of the steam rooms were out of action for the duration of our stay.

Unfortunately, my experience was of a noisy room which prevented me sleeping soundly. The noise was attributable to the structure of the Stable Annex building (creaky and with thin walls/floors) and the proximity of the road (soundproofing appeared absent or ineffective). Additionally, the doors were hanging off of the built in wardrobe and the room felt generally tired (like me!).

« Very relaxing weekend in beautiful surroundings. »

The hotel was very quiet despite the wedding party staying there. The room was spacious. The lounge was the perfect setting for newspaper reading and the breakfast was very appetizing. All in all a very relaxing weekend. Only criticism was the cleanliness of the pool - the water was not clear!

The general ambience of the hotel and the grounds was good. Original and historical features have been retained and integrated into the upgrade of the building, but creaking floors in the old part may be irritating for guests, as are the swing doors near bedrooms. The temperature within the building was too high for comfort. Compared to other hotels of a similar grade the level of staff competence and professionalism (particularly in the dining room) was variable and the quality of the food provided was certainly not up to 4* standard. Contact with the hotel prior to our stay was almost impossible, being held on the line for 30 minutes on three occasions. When I finally connected though, the service was excellent.

It was a nice Hotel great value for money but on arriving Reception lady unaware of the room type and had us in a 2 singles ( the other lady did sorte it out ) Room 95 shower was blocked and we also had a dirty towel put in our room Breakfast was nice for myself but my wife was a veggie and had No options found food greasy a little

« Great staff and service but in need of lifts for upper floors. »

We had a lovely two night stay recently. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was nice. Unfortunately the one thing that lets it down was the lack of a lift to access the upper floors. Even though the staff were on hand to help with luggage, it's something that I feel is essential in such a large hotel.

I tried booking on the website but it wouldn't complete the booking so I used the call back. Room was lovely. Staff on reception helpful. Dinner was good but it would have been nice to have been told there was an option to upgrade to a full menu (we only found out on the last night by overhearing other guests). When we asked why we hadn't been told the waitress said they expected people to ask but you can't ask for something you don't know about.

From start to finish my experience was perfect. The booking team were so helpful and spent time finding me the perfect deal. The reception staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful and so spacious. The spa experience was amazing for both me and my partner. The restaurant had such an amazing atmosphere and you really got the feel of the old building. The food was incredible and the steak was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back, it is well worth the 2 hour drive.

We were very disappointed with our experience, we were not given the correct formation about breakfast being £10 if you book or £15 if you walk in and the spa regarding the lockers at check in. The person at the spa gave us incorrect information about the lockers in that you need OLD £1 coins for the lockers!!!!! Get up to date!! We had an issue in both restaurants with drinks and food. I would rate this hotel as a 2* / 3*. After our long days out we had to get our room key reprogrammed three times. The water in the spa pool was green and murky and the main steam room was out of order and this was one of the main reason for choosing this hotel.
