Breakfast from hot food bar that wasnt hot and plates cold was bit better second day but still not hot, too much food prepared at a time must be lot of wastage as trays still full at 9.20,breakfast finished at 9.30!

Arrived, given the wrong directions to our room. Room was nice and clean however the shower had no power at all and took a few minutes to warm up. Food was awful, twice brought out cold and sent back to be warmed up. Not at all impressed.

« Relaxing break »

We enjoyed our stay at Mercure Albrighton. We had a double room with dinner and breakfast, and also used the spa facilities and had a massage. The staff were all very polite and happy to attend, however we did ask for different pillows as ours were very lumpy, and felt old and uncomfortable. The lady at reception said that all the pillows in the hotel are the same but she would check with housekeeping. We didn’t hear anything back and our pillows weren’t changed- it’s not good enough in a 4 star hotel to only have one type of pillow, and especially to receive no follow up or apology until we brought it up again when we checked out. Breakfast was excellent and a good long time slot. Dinner was ok, but the set menu choices were too limited- there were a lot of vegetarian dishes which meant there were fewer meat options, no beef at all and an extra charge for lamb. So if you wanted meat and didn’t want to pay extra your options were chicken or a very fatty pork (since we stayed two nights and it was the same menu we were limited in our choices). It is good to offer a selection for vegetarians, but another meat option that didn’t cost extra would have been better, especially since there were steaks on the a la Carte menu so clearly they were available. We enjoyed the spa, it was well laid out and lots of facilities to explore. Our massage in the orchid rooms was perfect and the staff were delightful. We would have appreciated knowing before we booked that Wednesday morning is a very loud and aggressive-sounding aqua aerobics class! This hugely affected our experience on one of the days. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but there were a few points that we were unhappy about which would discourage us from staying here again. When you pay for a 4 star hotel you expect to have your reasonable requests and expectations met, and this wasn’t done to our satisfaction. Still, a lovely hotel and wonderful staff.

« 3 For 2 Perhaps Not...... »

Albeit I booked the hotel in August of this year and on arrival at the hotel on the 30th of November 2018. Where upon my partner was informed that due to the early booking we had qualified for the 3 for 2 deal. It was not reflected on the final bill and when booking out the receptionist in that instance told me that the deal had lapsed and was not applicable to me. The billing system was/is a bit chaotic and very difficult to understand. However the majority of the staff were extremely courteous and very professional. The food was fantastic and the amenities excellent. I paid the excess just in order to leave. Having been promised that I would receive an email explaining the excess amount on my bill. I'm still waiting...... :(

« not as relaxed as we had hoped »

the experience wasn't not a spa break as we had planned, it was a night at hotel with a massage not a very good one alongside the this we couldn't go from spa to our rooms in the gown. which is ridiculous. the staff had no idea what they were doing, the coach house where our rooms were is run down and tatty, small bath towel which were crusty. Pubic hair in the bath, cobwebs on ceilings. Loud guests up above using the night. poor food quality and slow service at breakfast. dated rooms and bathroom was just cold and uninviting.

It was nice - a last minute brake for myself and my partner the room was clean and the hotel grown where amamaizng.. the thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the spa area the next day, there was body far present in the steam room with a funny Oder throughout the floor was slimey and black looked like it had never been cleaned, so we where a bit disappointed about this as this is what we where looking forwards to the most! But the hotel staff and settings made up for our whole experience

Relaxing and rejuvenating. I loved the early morning swims before breakfast and the beautiful drawing room for evening drinks before dinner The only downside was the extremely poor service on Saturday and the badly cooked scallops for dinner on the second. However we were not charged for the Sat meal and the scallops were replaced with another choice. It did however detract from an otherwise lovely stay. Staff were pleasant and courteous and the grounds divine. Thank you

« Not much of a choice! »

First of all our hotel room was really nice but that’s about it, before booking I wish somewer it would have told us that we would of been given allocated time slots for our meal and spa treatment I’d of called first to see what they had before booking and when told i would not have continued with booking!!! After booking I called to book our spa and meal times, first I was told there was no other time for our spa treatment other than to arrive at 12.45pm and receive our massage at 1pm before we checked in to our room at 2pm, as It was my birthday I was planning to spend the day with my son and then hoping to arrive at the hotel around 3 with my partner. I rang to say I was not happy about having to be there for 12.45 as I said I have my son, someone then called me back with a some how new time slot for 9.30 the next morning which was still not very practical as just having a baby 5 months ago me and my partner don’t get much opportunity to have a lay in or time alone, so as we Was celebrating my first birthday as a mother we went to the bar down stairs for a few drinks and was going into see Shrewsbury village but we had to wait around for our main meal at 7.45pm so by the time we went to eat it was around 8.30pm so our meal was hardly touched as eating lamb shank after a few drinks isn’t so good on the stomach, there wasn’t much to choose from on the set menu so we both chose lamb shank which we then recived £6 supplement charge when there wasn’t really another meat to choose from! So we went out to Shrewsbury village where the young staff on reception very kindly told us about, they can not be faulted they was nice and helpful with us. So all in all we payed for reviver spa package and we didn’t eat our 2 course meal and we got charged £6 for it, and we also slept in and missed our spa treatment! So I feel we have wasted a awful lot of money which completely ruined my birthday night away which was suppose to be a nice fun & relaxing first get away for me and my partner which turned out once we went out into the village it was fun but everything else was abit of a nightmare and I would not rush back to this hotel for a spa package again. I’d stay in our hotel room again although it was abit cold in the room it was spacious and the bed was comfortable with all the little extras in the room (we had a newly refurbished privlage suite) BUT I would not pay for spa and meals with the hotel again as there was no consideration as to your plans it was a get what times your given or miss out on what you have payed for type of attitude!

Positives: Nice location. Nice old building. Great newly renovated bedroom. Great food. Negatives: No heating in room, supplied with electric heater. No hot water on arrival, fixed within two hours but needed to use the SPA facilities to wash. General hotel areas tired and in need of redecoration.

« Great hotel, another restful break, but more expensive »

We always enjoy Albrighton Hall, reception was excellent, the spa was great, bedroom very comfortable, food ok. Quite often we had to go to reception to get service in the bar. Overall we had a nice realxing break When I checked the bill, the overall cost for our break had gone up by 20~25% compared with last time. It's a shame that the three nights for two deal wasn't available. Maybe we'll have to eat somewhere nearby next time.

Our room (32) was generally very comfortable, but there were several things that in our opinion were not of the standard we would have expected: (i) two dirty pillowcases had been left on the trouser press when we arrived, though they had gone when we returned the following evening, (ii) the supply of hot water was inconsistent, and we sometimes had to make do with cold or lukewarm water in the morning – or wait a very long time for it to run hot, (iii) overnight we were too hot with the duvet over us and too cold without it (perhaps alternative coverings could be provided or more than one duvet with different tog ratings), (iv) the lighting wasn't bright enough and made reading difficult without straining one's eyes. We had one evening meal and three breakfasts during our stay, and we thought the quality of food and service was excellent. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

Our room was generally comfortable, but hot water was not always readily available, the lighting was rather dim and the duvet was too hot. However, the quality of food was extremely good, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
