Excellent. Very spacious and clean room with good facilities. Quiet at night, which was very welcome. Good choice at breakfast. Enjoyed using the spa and felt very refreshed by this. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely choose this hotel again.

A really first rate stay at the Sheffield Mercure St Paul's Hotel. Easy check-in with polite staff. Very nice room and bathroom was immaculate with good amenities. The bed was extremely large and I found it very comfortable, enabling me to have a great sleep. Also, the breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Very happy with our stay and would definitely return.

The hotel itself is perfect, great location and fantastic rooms. Unfortunately the hotel takes it upon itself to preset your room temperature like some thermometer dictator. So the options I had in my room were warm, extra warm, hot or burning. No regard for anyone who wants a cool or cold room. I rang down to reception at 5.30pm having set the temperature on minimum and realised it was still too warm. I was told ‘maintenance has left for the day’ and so nothing could be done as the temperature depends on the outside temperature and so is set to warm. Now forgive me if I’m wrong but what on earth does the outside temperature matter when your rooms are super isulated and have no opening windows? So basically, I was hot all evening and despite sleeping without covers slept a total of 3hrs as it was too hot to sleep. Stop presetting temperatures!

We had a lovely view of the square and fountains from our room. We found the bed rather hard and our starter at dinner was disappointing but the staff were all friendly and helpful and overall this was a most enjoyable and relaxing break.

« I will never stay at the hotel again »

My company & I had made the error of double booking my room. On arrival at 14:30hrs on Sunday I was told that I could cancel my room and use the company's booking, which I agreed to do. The receptionist expected me to log on the the internet to cancel my booking, even though I was standing right in front of her. I refused and we ended up paying for two rooms. The following night five other employees of Pressure Technologies plc checked in and I shared the story with them. I am chairman of the Pressure Technologies plc and four other UK firms and have now issued a edict that we will never use Mercure again.

« The shower door did not close. I slipped as I came out injuring my knee »

The facilities and some of the staff were great. My shower door did not close and I had not realised. As I left the shower the floor was covered and I slipped even though I had laid a towel on the floor resulting in smashing my knee on the floor. When I advised the receptionist there was no real apology I left very frustrated and undervalued. Also in the shower. The shower head ( not the waterfall shower) was covered in mould including the holder. I was very disappointed of how it was dealt with after I raised my concerns and have contacted Mercure and as of yet I am still awaiting a response

From check in to check out it was a pleasure and delight. MERCURE Sheffield is one of my favourite places to stay. I always look forward to getting there and have never been disappointed yet. MERCURE is a good brand but I believe Sheffield St Paul's to be the best of the lot. If you are ever looking for a mystery guest to look at your Hotels I am your man.

Staff was very welcoming, I booked the Sunday wellness Package with my other half and we enjoyed our stay our room was standard but very spacious. The spa was clean and not too crowded which was a bonus. We had dinner and breakfast and both meals were perfect. We will definitely be returning x

The room and service was fantastic but the food could of been better for the price. My husband had the 9 oz ribeye and I had the fish and chips, the chips had no flavour and the fish was tasteless. As for the ribeye it looked very dry and small even to say it was cooked medium well.

« Perfect break from the suburbs »

Our party had booked the theatre in Sheffield for Friday night and Saturday afternoon and rather than trudge back to the suburbs and return the next day, we took up an offer that came through last October. It was an inspired decision. From our arrival to our departure, we received first class service. Being upgraded was an added bonus that underscored the benefits of joining a loyalty program. Even without a special deal, we will be returning here next time we have two shows to see on consecutive days. Its location is perfect.

« Very comfortable, perfect location - just a couple of (rather large) spoliers »

Facilities, cleanliness and comfort are 1st rate. We just had a couple of issues during our 1 night stay. We upgraded to a Privilege Room only to find that it was full of wedding guests who were shouting along the corridor until 3am. We also ordered Room Service at 21:45 and was told that it would be 25-30 mins, it eventually turned up at nearly midnight after I had to chase.

Despite arriving several hours before check in time we were made to feel extremely welcome and I was impressed that our bags wee taken to our rooms when new returned to the hotel. Room was comfortable and clean and unusually for me I had a really good nights' sleep.
