The experience was unfortunately tinted by a cloud of non profesional and totally unexperienced in giving services to guests. Not enough training is provided by Accor Hotels and the financial department should be clearer. Almost 400€ where overcharged without reason as a first measure to "solve things".

« Nice property in quaint village outside Milton Keynes & Bletchley »

Booked a superior double on a Sunday night via my Club Accor Gold account. Pleasant staff at check in but no offer of upgrade despite hotel not seeming very busy. Did get complimentary drinks vouchers as per normal. Room however was perfectly pleasant overlooking garden courtyard. Decent size with good desk and chairs. Plenty of wardrobe hanging space but no clothing drawers apart from in desk and bedside table. Good lighting. Nice bright bathroom with large mirror but could have done with some paintwork on bath panel and inside of door being redone as peeling off. On bed was a turndown service offer but when we rang down to ask for it were told the housekeeping staff hadn’t turned up so couldn’t offer the service (why leave card prominently??) pleasant bar and restaurant with lots of outside garden seating however a wedding party being held in a function room had rather monopolised this area plus the front entrance door was strewn with cigarette ends and broken glass so not a very attractive entrance to hotel. Didn’t appear to be any duty manager watching for these issues or doing anything about them. PleAsant walk in local village and over Common land to the grand union canal bridge. The hotel is extremely well located for Milton Keynes and only a few miles to Bletchley if visiting Bletchley Park (excellent all day visitor attraction re WWII code breakers). Pleasant restaurant and enjoyed an excellent dinner. We had booked a two course dinner via the Club Accor website and this was charged at £25 for two courses with all a la Carte dishes available so excellent value deal. Wines fairly priced and can particularly recommend their current Chablis promotion at £30. the wine was terrific! Plenty of other wine choices by glass and bottle at reasonable prices. The food was very impressive as was the Restaurant Manager who did a great job. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent. All staff we met were charming and helpful. Only minor niggly let downs were the lack of upgrade and turndown service and scruffy entrance area otherwise would have scored higher at 8or 9!

The Chablis that you commented on is a popular choice within our hotel as it is exclusive to the only two hotels in the UK owned by the Clubhouse group. I would like to personally apologise for the turndown issue you experienced, this is something I will be looking into as we have a number of trained people in the hotel who can complete the guest turndown service. I will also be increasing the staff awareness of public areas in regards to the cigarette butts and broken glass at the entrance to the hotel. We feel we have amazing grounds and property so we do not expect the little things like rubbish / broken glass to just be left. as regular visitors; on this occasion, we were banished to the 2nd floor . The room had a view of 4 rooftops. not impressive. We requested to move and were offered a similar room but overlooking the field- were we are always but downstairs which was satisfactory. If I had been alone I would have needed assistance with my luggage. Also we didn't see any of the usual team on this visit at all.

The hotel, grounds and restaurant were very nice. Unfortunately the staff were not up to scratch. I was asked on arrival and again on departure to pay my room bill (I had made an advanced booking so no fees were due) I was also asked to pay for my meal which I had already pre paid. Lastly, there was a wedding on our first day and a birthday party the second. The staff were clearly attentive to the party guests but they were no where to be found for the hotel guests. We were stood at the bar for 20 minutes waiting and had to ask reception to find someone for us. We noticed that after the wedding guests had gone inside for the wedding breakfast the tables outside were full with glasses. These were not collected the whole time we were sat outside. Whilst sat on the patio seating for drinks, there were children on both days running riot. Footballs bouncing off the tables whilst hotel guests were having afternoon tea. Not once did a member of staff politely ask the children to not play ball games. Overall the hotel its self is lovely but due to poor staff I would not book again. It is such a shame to be let down like this when the experience could have been fantastic.

Key didn’t work 3 Times I had to keep going backwards and forwards as it still didn’t work at one point it let me in building but wouldn’t let me in my room and had to go back for third time, got there 2am porter took me across to room and it didn’t work for him. The room above was very noisy when a machine started 6 am in morning only the first and third morning when it was occupied, floor boards creaking very loud. The Resturant food was poor for the price, they rang out of ingredients and replaced with meat balls ? The lamb dish. There’s a beautiful piano that is seriously out of tune, the fantastic pianist did well on that so out of tune, for such a beautiful piano it should be looked after.

Had a lovely two day break. The setting is excellent and staff couldn't be more helpful. The only criticism we had was the evening menu in the restaurant was the same two nights running. We think it would have been nice to have had a daily "special" available.

1. At check in, no recognition of being a platinum member, therefore no upgrade, no drinks voucher etc. When i pointed out i was such a member (as had been acknowledged on all my previous stays there) i was that if i use 3rd party websites to undertake the booking the detail aren't pulled through... so i point out i used the Accor website... which the receptionist insists is a 3rd party website... amazing give that all my previous bookings were done from this website. 2. THE BIG ISSUE - The shower knob was physically broken meaning that the shower did not work correctly. It was a pathetic trickle of water. Given that it was physically and visually broken, and that house keeping will have struggled to clean the bath with such weak flow of water, i absolutely struggle to believe that maintenance were not aware of this issue. Which leads to the conclusion that because the hotel was busy, management took a decision to release the room knowing full well it was not serviceable. And if they didn't know then someone needs to get a grip of the reporting of issues process. just shameful.

Lovely Hotel with common areas well maintained. Staff pleasant and attentive. Enjoyed our stay. If I were being hyper critical - Room a tad cramped but perhaps due to inproportionate furniture. Needed a little maintenance where some guests have been less respectful. ( chair upholstery terribly stained) drapes been wrestled from the walls etc. Overall a nice hotel and will stay again.

« Perfect wedding hotel. »

My son got married here after a ceremony at st marys. We had 4 rooms the night before and 5 on the night. Lots of other members of the wedding party stayed too. From arrival to departure we were fully looked after. The staff were amazing and even though there were some hitched they were dealt with swiftly and with a huge smile. Particular mention to Grace, Franco, Becky and the fabulous Matthew. There was also a manger on duty Saturday and Sunday whose name I don’t know. He had a calm authority and made the military operation of wedding breakfast look like a ballet. The bride and groom were especially impressed. Another lady (with lovely cats eye makeup!) also couldn’t have looked after the wedding better. Everyone commented on how fabulously comfortable the beds were too. Thank you so much to everyone at Woughton House, a perfect weekend.
