« Pleasant, friendly hotel »

Friendly welcome, allocated a quiet room on arrival as there was a wedding on, we were not disturbed by it. Aircon was noisy so we opened the window, bathroom slightly tired but otherwise all OK, wifi worked fine. Breakfast buffet was good but it needs to be laid out in a bigger space, some items such as the toaster were hard to reach even when it was quiet. Dinner was excellent and deserving of the "fine dining" tag, though wines in both restaurant and bar were rather overpriced.

« What a surprise. »

I never expect much from 'wedding and / or Function ' but I was very pleasantly surprised this time. The setting was lovely as was the house itself. It didn't show any of the normal signs of continuous over use, it was extremely clean, fresh and well laid out as was the room. The staff were friendly and helpful and in particular the lady in charge of the breakfast room was very efficient, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also well up to my quite exacting standards for breakfasts. In fact, this is one of the few places that I would actually stay at again. And if you know me and hotels then this in itself is an accolade indeed.

« A nice little break »

We chose this hotel because it wasn't in the centre of Milton Keynes and had that rural feel about it. A great location only a few minutes from the centre yet a world apart from the urban feel. Very friendly staff with a lovely local pub a couple of minues walk away. I would really recommend this hotel to you.

« A very nice hotel - but a few niggles »

This attractive hotel is very well located in quiet parkland on the edge of Milton Keynes, access is good and there is ample free parking. Staff here are excellent; professional, courteous and ever-smiling even when under pressure from some rather thoughless and demanding wedding guests during our 2-night stay. Paula del Pozo on reception deserves a very special mention; she's a star! The main building oozes character but the bedrooms are mainly situated in purpose-built extensions to the rear. Our room was spacious and comfortable but there were a few niggles with the attention to detail by the housekeeping staff. The tv didn't work because no-one had thought to check if the aerial was detached. Although we had booked a twin-bedded room for 2 adults the room was serviced for only one guest. The second set of towels and the only bar of soap were to be found in the wardrobe. The shower produced only warm, not hot water as the control was defective. There were no bedhead plugtops etc. There was only one 'easy' chair. BUT the beds were very comfortable, the tea-making facilities were all that one could expect and the room was clean and quiet, just as we had hoped. The breakfast buffet, supplemented by a cooked-to-order menu was extremely good but the 'fine dining' restaurant left something to be desired. Here again attention to detail was a problem. For instance, my saute potatoes were served full of 'black eyes'! This is a very nice, well-located and well-staffed hotel and we would definitely stay again ... when they've sorted the attention to detail matters"!

Thank you for your feedback and I am pleased to read that generally you enjoyed staying with us at Woughton House - MGallery by Sofitel. Just to update you that during May we are re-branding the hotel to join the MGallery by Sofitel collection of hotels. MGallery hotels feature captivating properties that exude charm, charisma and a profoundly local character and with this in mind we have changed the name of the hotel back to its original name of Woughton House. Having the second set of towels and toiletries in the wardrobe is a Mercure brand standard and this has now changed at the hotel with everything in the bathroom. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Woughton House in the near future. Kind regards Anna Bambrook General Manager

« Neat , tidy and hospitable »

Almost everyone who we spoke to in the hotel has been great. Pity the room was a bit small and the lighting was pretty poor. Nevertheless, if you have a wee spare time, you can take a walk in the park,it is truly pleasant. The quality of breakfast was very good and staff are excellent.

« A Relaxing & Beautiful Place to Stay »

We had a great stay. The location is great for Bletchley Park. The hotel is set in a lovely location next to a beautiful park, fantastic outdoor spaces. The facilities and room were immaculate. And there was a great pub/restaurant across the road a 2 minute walk away.

« Very nice hotel, but with some corners cut »

Overall this is a lovely hotel with very comfortable rooms, beautiful décor in the public areas and a peaceful countryside location. The staff were all very friendly and professional. However, our long looked forward to breakfast-in-the-room never arrived, despite calling, and after 1 hour we had to leave without having a breakfast at all. Maybe just a small oversight for a hotel, but for me that was a really bad start to the day. The room was really very comfortable, but they cut corners with cheap plastic 'glasses' and toilet seats and the bathroom is starting to look a bit tired. Overall, for the price, this is a great hotel.

Thank you for your comments and I am pleased that you found the hotel to be lovely with comfortable rooms. I know the team will be happy that you found the level of service both friendly and professional. I am sorry about the room service breakfast not arriving - my Food & Beverage Manager is going to investigate this with his team. We use the perspex tumblers in the bathroom to avoid glass breakages as our bathroom floors are all tiled and we have had problems with this which can be dangerous if a glass is dropped. Our team would be more than happy to bring actual glass tumblers if required. I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards Anna Bambrook General Manager

« Friendly home from home business trip in a relaxed and peaceful location »

I have stayed at the Parkside several times now for business trips to Milton Keynes. The staff members are very good, and the decor and furnishings are of a high standard throughout, although showing some signs of minor wear. The whole hotel has a lovely fragrance which adds to the very calm ambiance. I note that the hotel will soon change ownership and I hope that the unique 'boutique-style' character of the hotel will not be diminished. Breakfast is good, with enough choice of good quality food. Wifi is excellent, and any problems are quickly resolved. There is no lift.

Thank you for your comments and how lovely to read that you have stayed with us at the Mercure Milton Keynes Parkside House on several occasions. To confirm the hotel is not changing ownership and remains with Accor Hotels - we are just rebranding to MGallery which is a boutique collection of hotels by Sofitel within the Accor Hotel Group. MGallery is a brand focused on design and heritage as well of course on offering excellent facilities and comfort for our guests. We are very excited about this change and very much look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Anna Bambrook General Manager

« Very nice setting and wonderful staff »

Stayed for a Saturday night booking Dinner, bed and breakfast. We had two double rooms. Both were clean comfortable and tastefully furnished. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially our waitress for the evening meal. The evening meal was a 3 course affair and our group all chose different starters which were enjoyed by all. Three of the four chose the steak as a main and one had the beef rib. Everyone was happy. Sticky Toffee pudding all round for the dessert. Breakfast the following day again was brilliant with cereals, juices, pastries and cooked breakfast and the poor waitress from the night before was again at breakfast, still as happy and friendly as the night before. The hotel is set in a beautiful village and surrounded by flattish paths so easy for all ages to take a stroll. Would definitely stay again.

« Rural Milton Keynes »

A delightful hotel in a surprisingly rural setting but close to the City of Milton Keynes, easily accessible by car. Attention to detail is needed. Cold bacon at breakfast - loose bath tap - leaking bath - no bedside light on one side of the bed, but a lovely building in a village setting. The staff were most helpful. We understand that new management may well build new quality into a very desirable place to stay.

« Secluded and grand. »

This is a lovely old home, that has converted well to accomodation. I love a creaky old house and this fits the bill. The in dining options and bar at great, with the pub a few steps away. The village is quiet and picturesque and there are lovely walks. There is a bit of work to get it to Sofitel standards and I hope the change doesn't push it out of my price bracket. I recommend a stay here.

Thank you for your review and I am pleased to read that you enjoyed staying with us at the Mercure Milton Keynes Parkside House. The house dates from 1844 and is indeed a quirky old building which over the last 18 months we have extensively refurbished most of the property with the final touches now taking place to create what will soon be an MGallery hotel. As with all hotels our pricing is market driven which will always keep the hotel competitive within Milton Keynes. I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future. A hidden haven in Milton Keynes! Great location and peaceful! Personable staff, feels like a country manor! Nice rooms, good bar and restaurant, and menu! Easy access into MK for local attractions, but great place to sit and chill in front of the fire with a brandy and a good book!

Great settings, nice surroundings, pleasant staff and great breakfast. Ideal place for relaxation and walks in the fields. We have been greeted with a big smile by a receptionist on duty, given an upgrade (thank you). Room was great with a very comfortable bed.
