Disappointing

Jackie R. Friends - 18/04/2019 AccorHotels certified review

Positives- lovely room, excellent staff especially Friday evening in bar and restaurant. Negatives - appreciate Work being done but confusing signs, food choice and food not brilliant on Friday evening, breakfast poor and staff offhand and the worst facial I have ever had.

hfph Friends getaway - 18/04/2019 TripAdvisor review

This was our 5th visit. We were visiting friends for a surprise birthday party. On Saturday evening we chose to eat in the hotel restaurant again, and as usual the short but interesting menu did not fail to satisfy us. The food was well cooked and nicely presented; the service was excellent, and we were able to choose our preferred table. Drinks were reasonably priced, and service in the bar was faultless. We occupied a renovated Privilege room, which was large and very comfortable, particularly the bed. Housekeeping had prepared the room well, and cleaning was carried out while we were out each day, to the same high standard. We did not visit the spa this time, as we were fully occupied each day.

Dear hfph, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our hotel, I'm pleased to read that you were impressed with the food and service in the restaurant, I shall also pass on your kind words to the housekeeping team. I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the very near future. Warm regards, Nick

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! Worst nights sleep in a hotel I’ve ever had

Amanda L. Business - 17/04/2019 AccorHotels certified review

I can honestly say this is the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel and I stay in quite a few for work. I paid nearly £200 for 2 nights in this hotel and I had about 5 hours sleep the first night which was constantly disrupted by a loud humming noise all through the night. It sounded like a generator was in the room! And to top it off there was the BRIGHTEST green light in my room. If I can attach a picture I will. I was absolutely gobsmacked by the stupidity of putting that in any bedroom. When I complained, I was told there was nothing they could do as it was some sort of safety regulation. I find that surprising as I’ve never seen this in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I could actually see where someone made a poor attempt to cover it up with a bit of card. (Which didn’t work) all guests want is a quiet, dark room with a comfortable bed to sleep in and you failed miserably. That night I nearly had to cancel the dinner I arranged with colleagues as I was so tired from the lack of sleep! It’s very rare for me to make a complaint of this nature but it seems so strange to me that the manager of the hotel has not fed this back to someone up above. That clearly shows a lack of caring for the guests. When I was checking out I could hear another couple also complaining about the bright green light so it’s not to be dismissed. There was also no hair dryer in my colleagues room which again seems absurd - if you’re paying £100 a night, you would expect that! She went downstairs with wet hair only to be told ‘sorry can’t do anything’ if the receptionist really gave a damn about customer service, she would have found one from a room not being used. On the 2nd night I asked to move into a new room. It was at least quiet but again the dreaded green light lingered in the corner. I managed to solve the problem by using several bits of card which I stick over it with cello tape as the receptionist said there was nothing she could do.

Nice hotel but needs updating

A nice hotel with good facilities and friendly helpful staff. There were some minor maintenance issues that that could have been done before we arrived such as fixing the curtains back on to the hooks but nothing that bothered us. I believe that this is one of the rooms that needed refurbishment as the old dated and stained sofa bed was still in place but otherwise it was clean. The pillows were very hard but the bed was OK. The spa area was good with a nice pool and steam room but this was spoiled somewhat by a guest having a shave in the steam room. It was expensive for one night in an old tired looking room and maybe breakfast should be included in the price.

Disappointed with bed size in a Privilege rate room.

Neville W. Couples - 16/04/2019 AccorHotels certified review

Good room size with all required bits and pieces. Dreadful ultra bright security light above the bed, told it could not be altered. Decent Spa albeit a bit busy. The hotel restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food (beef wellington tasted like it had done its duty as footwear) mentioned it to the staff, got an ‘Oh dear’ response.

To access our ground floor room we had to go up to the first floor, along a corridor and then down more steps back to ground floor. This wasn’t even explained when we checked in meaning we wandered around lost.

It was very relaxing and enjoyable

Reception staff very helpful, lovely setting, very comfy room. All amenities available as described. Main problem was "security light" in ceiling. It shone directly into our faces at night resulting in a very poor sleep for both my husband and myself. I mentioned it to reception the following morning and was told maintenance would look at it.

We didn’t stay at the hotel. We just came for lunch. This is pretty typical of the inefficiencies of this hotel. Lunch was poor. No one greeted us on arrival. We were not in the main restaurant but in an inferior conference room. Wine arrived before our pre dinner drinks. Staff looked terrified. No smiles! No flowers on the tables. No one told us when they wanted us to go up for the carvery. It was an unorganised free for all. Poor arrangement of buffet table meant queues blocking the way for others. Main course veg was uninteresting and lacked choice. Puddings were terrible. The only positive thing was the guitarist who was very good I was given a discount on complaining, but that wasn’t really the point. I’d have preferred a good lunch!

Food was good, bed and pillows were really hard and uncomfortable

Karen Couples - 04/04/2019 AccorHotels certified review

Hotel set in a beautiful village. Good parking and great package deal with dinner and breakfast included. Lovely to be upgraded to a premier room. Room and bathroom clean but bed and pillows were so hard we didn’t sleep well at all. Dinner was lovely but not much to choose from on the menu, but what we had was lovely. Breakfast was also a good selection. Nice to have a swimming pool but the female changing rooms needed a good clean (hair all over floor etc) and were very small for the number of people using. Lockers need updating (most didn’t work) and there were no cubicles to change in. But the quality of the food we ate made the stay nice.

Always a pleasure to stay at Brandon

Malcolm E. Business - 04/04/2019 AccorHotels certified review

Warm welcome (on this occasion I turned up without having booked a room and the desk staff sorted this out for me). The new rooms are very pleasing. My main concern which makes me just satisfied rather than extremely satisfied is the provision of new green emergency lights which I fear are mandatory but mean the room is bathed in a green glow through the night. The result is I wake up in the wee small hours and think it is daylight and time to get up. I prefer a complete blackout which your curtains permit. So I didn't sleep as well as I might have done M

A pleasnt stay
