The first night we stayed was brilliant! Good service, lovely room, very nice food. We spent some time in the spa which was nice and relaxing. However, the second night in the restaurant was somewhat disappointing. We were seated under an aircon vent, so part way through the meal told the waitress we were cold and was there anything she could do, she said sorry and walked off. No offer to move tables or turn the temperature up slightly. Ordered the steak off the set menu, it was a very tough piece of meat. I informed the head waiter who just told me it was sirloin. We did witness another table send their sirloin back and they still weren't happy with the replacement.

Very nice hotel in pleasant surroundings. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was self service, but a good choice of everything. Only grumble was we were unable to eat in the restaurant as it was 'fully booked' although when we looked in later it didn't appear to be full. We were told we could order bar snacks, but we couldn't get a seat in the small bar either as it was busy. We ended up eating at a local pub.

We have been coming to, and staying at Brandon Hall Hotel annually for many years. Its more or less central location in the country has made it an ideal place for family get togethers, weddings & milestone birthdays. We have never been disappointed by the friendliness of our welcome. The service in our opinion i almost always excellent. Nothing is too much trouble The hotel is situated in its own well kept grounds. A lawned area, largely away from the cars is ideal for children. There is a swimming pool & spa adjacent to the hotel. The swimming pool has set hours for parents with children, though this is not exclusive, as the pool is divided into two for anyone who just wants to swim & doesn't mind children. There are also child free times, The accommodation is good. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean & well equipped. Bathrooms come with shower, bath or both. The guest seating areas in the reception area & bar are clean & comfortable, . Their is a spacious & airy restaurant, where breakfast is served on a self service basis from an extensive breakfast bar, and dinner from a menu which caters to almost all tastes. The hotel has recently been refurbished in a modern yet contemporary style, which adds to its character & charm. We have already booked our next visit.

All good apart from collapsing kids bed and sharp edges to the bed frame (2 x small injuries to our kids)

Nice hotel, enjoyed our stay, but one of the kids sat on the edge of the kids' bed and scraped themselves on one of the two metal plates that become prominent when the mattress squashes down, and the other one got hurt (and had to sleep in our bed) when the end of the kids' bed collapsed and then wouldn't go back up.

Arrived to a beautiful setting. Allocated our room which turned out to be a disabled room with no proper shower but was sorted out straight away. Room was clean and tidy and very modern. My only issue, which is personal preference rather than a moan, was that it had a fake wooden floor, I prefer carpet. Bed was so comfortable! Dinner was included on both nights of our stay and the food was great and if we wanted extras they were very reasonably priced. Husband used the gym which was great, plenty of equipment. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

All staff at check in and in the restaurante were all very helpful. Had reservations about having to go outside to the room if the weather was any colder. Fould the room decor sparse and dull. Food was good and well presented.

After being gifted a 2 night break in a hotel in Cheshire - but being unable to go away for 2 days due to childcare - we swapped our gift voucher for this hotel for 1 night with spa access. This swap was certainly not what we had hoped for and was certainly not worth the money spent (and not a fair swap.) Firstly we arrived and were given our key card to our room - expecting a deluxe double room as stated on booking. We opened the door to find a small bedroom with a double bed, no bigger than a standard room at a premier inn. We had informed the hotel we were bringing our 1 year old daughter and a travel cot - which would not even fit in this room! Unhappy, I went back to the desk and enquired about which room we had been given. Checking our details the staff realised they had made a mistake and changed our room - did not offer help with all our bags or even apologise for the inconvenience. The new room was clean, and nice but very basic. We got ready to go to the 'spa' with our daughter - the pool was freezing cold and we could only stop in there a short while as our daughter was getting upset in the cold water. We enjoyed our evening the three of us and filled out our room service card for breakfast in the morning for 7:45 when our daughter is usually awake and went to sleep. At 6:30 sharp - a loud knock on the door and my husband woke up in shock, quickly got dressed and opened the door to find room service with our breakfast. We did not check the time but thought we had just slept through. Once inside I checked the time and realised how early it was! The breakfast delivered was not even our breakfast. In a daze I rang the reception who stated they would check and could I wait by the phone for them to call me back. Half asleep I waited by the phone when I could have been getting some extra sleep whilst my daughter was still resting! They eventually called back and said they apologised as there had been a mistake (obviously) and that they would come and collect the food. 10 minutes later they knocked on the door. By this point it had been over half an hour early in the morning - on our break away! When leaving hotel, I informed front desk we were unhappy about this and all I got was a 'Oh I'm sorry.' This was a wedding gift and a night away with my husband which was ruined by these mistakes made by your hotel which shouldn't have happened. We certainly will be reconsidering stopping at any Mercure hotels in the future.

I live in nearby village and my daughter visits me once a month from Paris. The intention is for her to find a nearby hotel that suits her needs. Business and leisure. I offered her one night and then she paid for the second. We liked the atmosphere, very relaxed. she found the room she was given a little too compact but this was remedied at Reception. The hotel room was set in the back of the building so nice and quiet. Cleanl , fresh, light room. All the necessities required in a standard hotel room. Perhaps a couple more hangers (there were 3). She expected a small cold area/fridge but nonetheless Wifi met her requirements . She works from home for a Global Organisation so was happy she could work functionally. Main gripe for us was when we were signing out and Reception gave my daughter a bill for the amount of the room for one night. She had already paid when booking for the room (from the hotel lobby ) and we both found this frustrating and unprofessional. The Reception staff on duty on the day dealt with the problem but it looked a little amateurish. Piles of invoices were brought out onto the front desk. Never witnessed anything like this before. My daughter had to check her bank balance on her phone and the experience ruined our otherwise lovely experience. The situation caused her to miss her Eurostar connection later that day and she ended up having to book into a hotel near St Pancras for the night. The fact i live in a tiny cottage and have family abroad who visit me could mean potential regular income for your Hotel. Last year we had a guest who stayed 4 nights at your hotel in one of the Premium rooms and when she returned to Paris she had been charged twice. The problem was resolved but nonetheless in this day and age one doesnt expect this kind of faux pas. We both enjoyedthe swimming pool and fitness facilities and I am considering joining the gym. The Power Plate in the gym is broken but otherwise the gym does the job. There was a problem also with flies in the lobby of the building. As i live locally (Brinklow) i've noticed a really bad fly problem this summer but again, one does not expect to find this in a 4 star Hotel. When bought to staff's attention a ''yes it's terrible'' attitude was adopted ???? Lots of good points but ruined by the payment confusion. My daughter is coming back to the area in October. I am not sure what her plans are in terms of Hotel are at this point. Definitely noticed and loved the redocorating and modern new fresh look. You were beginning to look really jaded.

The hotel was quite nice but needed a refresh which I believe it is rexiving at present. The staff were helpful and very good at their jobs. Overall, quite a pleasant stay.

Relaxing atmosphere from the start i.e. entering the grounds and property. Warm pool. Great food. Comfy beds.

We went directly to the pool, steam and sauna and wasn't disappointed. Husband tried out the well equipped gym and then joined me in the pool. Evening meal was served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Top class food from the kitchen. Comfy bed at night. Good choices at breakfast.
