« Generally a good stay but let down by odd points. »

Our visit to Brandon hall was enjoyable. The leisure centre was excellent. All the staff were courteous and polite. Our rooms were executive, one had a fridge and one hadn't. On our second day the house staff didn't get to our room till 5pm and we were getting ready for dinner so we had to send her away and the room didn't get done. The first evening meal was very disappointing both in quantity and quality. The first breakfast was also poor with egg yolks dried up, bacon and sausage drying up and going stiff. The second evening meal was much better and the second breakfast also. Finally and I know it's difficult to prevent on the second night soon after midnight a fire alarm went off due to a malfunction. Although the episode wasn't long it ruined the whole nights sleep.

Your duty manager Aiden and the staff on duty in the restaurant couldn’t do enough for us. Pleasant happy staff around the hotel always willing to help with a smile.

Obissmal. I would not recommend this hotel. The Resteaurant and food is very poor as is customer service and the decor is outdated. Get it sorted as looking at reviews many people have complained about the same.

« Very disappointIng »

Gold member. Came to stay for a birthday celebration. After booking had emailed to ask about dinner reservation. Had no reply. Had checked in online and given arrival time (by 3pm, but got there at 2pm). Room was not ready on arrival (despite having access to early check-in). Finally got room key at 4pm or so, I was DOWNGRADED, but initially just told that they could not UPGRADE me (as I would expect given LeClub status). Was given a small refund but I had booked a superior room deliberately. Included dinner - food was good, but so slow. Was in restaurant for 2 hours 45 minutes in unbearable heat. Again, was given a free glass of wine a not charged for a side, but it really spoiled the evening. Room unbearably hot with no evidence on any ‘air cooling system’ as advertised (or aircon advertised for room I had booked).

« Extremely warm rooms »

Hotel was fine, however the room I was given was extremely hot due to the heatwave. I have a heart condition and could not stay in the room. I went to reception and spoke to Jane (I believe this was her name..) and she was able to locate me a room with air con due to my medical issues. Jane was very polite and professional and I do believe she should be commended for he approach to customer service. There was another lady at reception, a younger girl who I believe may benefit from additional training. I was with a female colleague, and this member of staff was quite loud and did shout her room number out for others to hear. Being a female staying on her own, not ideal in regards to safety. I also experienced this member of staff when checking out and never once said thank you, please or asked me how my stay was. Very abrupt and rude.

Very nice place. But as the weather was so very nice. Could have done with some air con in the bedroom

« A very relaxing and enjoyable stay »

The reception was excellent and we were very impressed with the room and all the facilities at the hotel. Upon arrival in the room the hotel had put out some fresh fruit and a card to welcome us and wish us well on our 42nd Anniversary. This was very much appreciated. We were booked for breakfast and dinner, the food was excellent and there was plenty of choice from the menus for dinner. The standard of dinner was excellent, it was evident that it was freshly prepared and well presented. Staff in all departments of the hotel were very polite and helpful as you would expect from a 4 star hotel. I have a few observations that may assist in improving the hotel services. I sent two emails requesting a list of treatments available at the spa as pre-booked treatments attracted a 20% discount, unfortunetly, I did not receive a response to either email so was unable to book any treatments. Upon arrival at reception I saw a notice stating that said swimming pool, sauna and steam room will be closed the next day. This was very disappointing as I had no communication by email or phone to inform me that this would be the case. I had planned to spend our Anniversary day (3 July) in the spa area with some treatments, consequently I had to make alternative arrangments. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were very good, however, there was no hot chocolate available (something I would expect to find in a 4 star hotel). Overall, our visit was very enjoyable and we would welcome the opportunity to visit this hotel again.

« Exceeded expectations in almost every respect! »

Best back massages we have had in a very long time. Perfectly cooked, good quality food served by attentive waiters who ensured that personal preferences were catered for. And a pool that is actually long enough to swim in! All staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and very memorable. Returned from this spa break truly relaxed and rejuvenated.

First the staff:from the moment we checked in to checking out we found the staff so helpful and friendly. The young man at the bar was busy but still found time to have a chat about the merits of cider. What a team! The room(thanks for the upgrade) was really good:the shower excellent and a first-class coffee machine with tasty coffee. The venue is great,we had a drink outside and enjoyed it. So why not a higher mark?Breakfast.I use ACCOR hotels a lot and I must say breakfast was disappointing, for instance the fried eggs were served in a dish with probably one centimetre of oil,not great. Two examples:Norwich Mercure and Brentford Novotel are cheaper, with pools as well and they serve a fantastic breakfast. A criticism? No,just advice.

« Adequate, but not exceptional »

We arrived for a 2 night B&B stay to attend a wedding at another venue, and were greeted in a friendly manner & directed to our room which involved a long walk down various corridors. No offer of help with luggage. The hotel grounds were lovely, but parts of the interior are beginning to look a little drab & shabby. Our bedroom was lovely and spacious but the layout was odd with a superking bed against a double headboard, and only 1 bedside table & lamp - not ideal if you both want to read in bed. The 2 easy chairs were welcome, but again looked old & tired, and only one cushion, so not giving any feeling of luxury. The room had an empty minibar, plus basic tea & coffee facilities, but only those mean caramel biscuits, not anything really tasty. The bathroom though was very good - clean and with both a bath and separate shower. We enjoyed the pool area, which is in a separate building, and the spa facilities were good, though I was surprised to be sharing the treatment room for my manicure with another client having a pedicure - not really acceptable. Breakfast was buffet style (apart from tea & coffee which was served to the table) with the hot food being OK but not remarkable. Hot plates would have helped, as would attention to detail - our table did not have salt/pepper or teaspoons on the first morning, and no cereal spoons on day 2. On checking out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. Overall I’d say the hotel was adequate for our stay due to its location close to the wedding venue, but I would hesitate to return. I have had a friendlier experience and better room & breakfast at other hotels for a better price. If I had paid more I would be very unhappy.

Rooms should have been twins not double. Was Told couldn’t be altered as hotel full but it was a nice room. Food very good on evening meal, staff very attentive at beginning of meal but disappeared at the end?, Breakfast was cold & took so long for eggs we didn’t bother, Had wrong treatment in spa booked in & girl was not trained to do gel nails so disappointing as that was for the birthday girl. I had a hot stone massage with Rachel which was superb. Overall experience very nice but a couple of hick ups here & there

« Apathetic Staff, awful bar service, rooms and public areas needing some TLC »

Check in was ordinary and staff appeared dis-interested. Room and building needs some touching up. No room service menu in the room, no hotel details in the room, remote control for the TV needed new batteries. Bar service - awful! Checkout - about as interested as they were checking in

« Too hot and no aircon available. »

Too hot and no aircon available - Then they supplied two fans which were awful - had to move the bed to other side of the room to the fans as the plugs are only on one side of the bedroom. Then after moving the bed the floor was disgusting - actually felt sick the the amount of dirt under the bed!

« Attending for business meetings and dinner which was catered for as always and why we keep returning. »

My only niggle was that some of the delegates attending weren't too impressed with the dinner menu and commented that it was not the usual standard we have at Brandon. We have a few on Slimming World diets and you did arrange for alternatives as I had requested through our agents, Independents. Otherwise all was well and the staff looking after us were as always, very good. I am the organiser of these quarterly events and any other bookings G4S Health Services do with you.
