With wedding, and birthday celebrations the atmosphere was one of CONTINUES noise noise noise! The room, while sold as a executive room, was situated at the back of the kitchens, with all the noise associated with a busy cattering area, with staff coming and going at all hours and not caring about the level of their voices or foot fall. The staff, while efficient, seemed cold and distant with no real interest in the guests as people. The restaurant again was run efficiently, but the staff where cold and aloft. And the food compared to when we were last there about 2/3 years ago, was disappointingly mediocre at best and lacked the choice and wow factor that has always made us want to return. Lastly, the whole hotel is looking very old and tiered with paint work appearing faded and chipped, and foyer furniture being distressed and shabby along with not being very uncomfortable. However, I would like to say the the bar staff were excellent and displayed the level of service that we have come to expect from your hotel, they should train the rest!!! We left a day early because of these problems and the hotel refunded us £105.

Check in good. Room very comfortable. Evening bar menu and restaurant menu not really match the stars, so went to the pub near the hotel. Was going to stay in, but saw the menus and extremely disappointed. Breakfast was ok. Things hadn’t been laid out correctly, which was noticed and things then rearranged

lovely setting refurbishment is coming along well,love the Amtico floors! bar service and meals very good restaurant food very good but a bit pricey for what you get- small vegetable portions ( 2 potatoes and four very small carrots) Pudding was good..sticky toffee. service really good not impressed by the toiletries in the bathroom, one shampoo and one shower gel for two people liked having a bath rather than just a shower I didn't have breakfast,I think £15.50 is a bit expensive for a breakfast

Excellent. Only disappointment was that the spa was separate from the hotel. As it rained continuously one day we would gave liked to have used the spa but would have meant getting soaked. A corridor connecting with hotel would be advantageous. Food was excellent and staff were very attentive. The room and bed were comfortable.

The hotel could do with being updated in the bedrooms as the room as looking tired. The hall way leading to our room had a problem on the carpet as it looked like there had been a water leak somewhere as it was badly stained and still wet. My room was clean and tidy. I would like though to say that we eat in the restaurant both night and can't fault the food or staff. It was exceptional and you was made to feel that nothing was to much trouble and the food was outstanding. It was cooked and presented lovely.

Very disappointing. The air conditioning unit made a clicking noise all night, the drains smelt in the room, the carpets were dirty as were the seats in the lobby. The spa was nice and the main course of the dinner was well cooked. Overall the hotel is very tired and not very well looked after. It’s in deperate need of some improvements.

Rooms are tired and need updating. Light bulbs in 2 of the four lights didn’t work. The sash window would open (wide) but wouldn’t stay open so had to use something to wedge it to keep it open. However as I was on the ground floor I couldn’t leave the window open at night as I was a women travelling alone I didn’t think it was safe.

Staff great, reception area underwhelming, threadbare carpets in corridors and on stairways, interspersed by some new carpet. Bedroom has two single beds pushed together but headboard narrower. Oldish furniture. Bathroom had old grouting and shower wouldn’t fully close. Just about okay. Moved to another room after being woken by neighbouring room several times in the night with flushed toilet causing water pipes to bang together. Second room quieter, identical furniture and bathroom. Exactly the same twin beds pushed together to make a double with a headboard from a smaller bed. Same dodgy grouting, and shower door not closing due to worn hinges. Had hairdryer this time, no safe. In both rooms air conditioning was feeble, like many hotels. Grounds were nice, breakfast good and dining room fine.

We came to conference that was situated in your woodlands suite and your staff had obviously over booked the hotel for the weekend. We where abused by the other users of the same suite as they arrived early to set up for a retirement party. We then where booked into our "Family room" with on double bed in it. Then you wanted to charge me for an extra room as you didn't have the space. Then our Dinner should have been served at 7.30pm. Our starteds arrived about 8.15 - my sons still hasn't arrived. I then had to help clear all the tables as we just all sat around waiting. When dinner finally arrived about 9.20pm, it was cold. My Son has to take medication with his food and as his started, still didn't arrive, he couldn't take it passed 9pm. My dinner arrived stone cold, my sons pizza uncooked and the dinner never arrived with veg. Then, we didn't get all of our deserts, but by this point, I didn't care and went to bed. That was after 20 mins awaiting service from the bar area that was also a joke. Then very hungry, thirsty and frustrated there was a party happening in the hall outside our room. Im not usual someone who minds, but my son was now sleeping in a separate room from me, without his medication and very hungry, I didn't know if he was able to sleep. The party stopped about 2 ish. I did try very hard to contact receiption to ask for help. However, the mini ipad in the room said phone "2424 or 4242" from the device, which I did which came back as Number not recognised. Which was really not surprising! So all in all, we had a pretty diabolical stay with your hotel and will never use the services again, nor will I ever recommend. Start to finish, you didn't have any where near enough staff to provide a proper service to run 4 separate functions that were happening at the same time. The food I will be reporting to the Food Standards as it was disgraceful and illegal to send out food in the state it was (I also run a catering business so very well versed on my Food standards). I should also invoice you for my time taken to help your poor understaffed manager with the dinner service. All in all just disgraceful. I could go on. I have recordings of the party happening outside in the hallway, I have photographs of the devise not phoning reception, I even have photos of the Family room we booked with its one bed! All in all you really need to pull your socks up and this is not the Kitchen, the waiting staff, or Aiden your manager, it is an upper level management problem that was too greedy and took in to many bookings without the resources to meet the demand. 2 People running a bar for a wedding/conference and separate party... just not even enough space!! I have already complained on Sunday 30th September 2018, but no one has bothered to respond so as you've asked for my opinion, its here and its horrid.

We had a wonderful time. Spa staff were lovely and very professional. Room was very clean and tidy. The dinner on Friday night was very tasty but Saturday night was not as good, I guess it was because they were very busy. Breakfast was good on both days.

We were disappointed. Although the staff are pleasant they have no local knowledge of the surrounding area. I felt that the room although nice was not worth the £256.00 we paid for the two nights. We were on the Alpha 1 conference. The meal on Saturday evening was appalling, the wait for the food was not acceptable, the fact that we had to clear our own starter dishes, and it was all pre booked NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The food when it eventually arrived was not acceptable, my husband had half a bowl of tepid soup, we both had the chicken also served cold, one small piece of carrot a couple of very small potatoes and one tiny piece of turnip, just not good enough, I felt very sorry for the organiser. I would like a refund for the food, £25.95 was far too expensive for the poor quality and small cold portions.
