We stayed in an executive double room which wasn’t quite what it could have been. The bed was two singles together but the headboard didn’t go all the way across the two. The bed was very comfortable. There was a picture on the wall and the frame was falling apart(if it had been dusted surely the cleaner would have took it down?) There was a ring stain on the bedside table from. Glass or cup.in the morning we were woken by workmen parking their vans right outside our window. They were quite quiet but still woke us up. The hotel did not appear to be full and it would have been nice for the reception/booking staff to have thought about this and given us a diffent room. On the whole the hotel itself is in a beautiful setting and the Christmas decorations are lovely. We would stay again as we were visiting our daughter at University and the location of the hotel was ideal. I hope on our next visit we have a better experience

Lovely time over night at the mercure. We seemed to be the only guests in on the sunday night so breakfast was private , but the food a little stale. Dinner was delicious and very inclusive as I am vegetarian and my friends were vegan, not a problem at all to help us with the menu. Spa was clean and warm, felt relaxing if a little busy. Pool was a little cold but was still nice.

1 - Car being broken into in the car park 2 - Two single beds pushed together in always poor 3 - Even though settling a bill upon arrival other people were still able to run a bar bill on a room that had already been settled 4 - Was told I couldnt had a VAT reciept on the day and they would email it to me an hour after checking out........I am still chasing it 4 days after staying

« BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE »

We booked a 4 day break to visit my sick brother in Coventry and were aware that it was a non-refundable booking, But unfortunately my brother died and when we asked if we could move the dates by just 5 days (NOT CANCEL OR REFUND), so we could attend the funeral, Customer service did not want to help and were very rude, meaning we could not use the hotel reservation and lost all our money, so could not afford to attend the funeral. We have been using MERCURE hotels for the past ten years, BUT WILL NEVER AGAIN!

We booked a executive room for a one night stay whilst visiting our daughter who is at University in Coventry. The hotel was ideally based for this. The hotel itself is in a lovely quiet setting. All public areas were decorated beautifully for the Christmas. Our room was let down by not being as clean as it could have been. The bed was supposed to be a double but was two singles joined together but the headboard was only for a single bed. Also a picture on the wall was falling to pieces. We were on the ground floor and the next morning we had workmen parking their vans outside our window which meant doors opening and closing. The hotel didn’t appear to be full and we would have thought that a better room could have been allocated for us away from the workmens car park. We would stay again as we couldn’t fault the location of the hotel we just felt that our stay could have been a bit more pleasurable.

Hotel was clean, warm and nice. First night we arrived, had a few beers and some dinner. Beer was poor, food was slow and not great. Didn't tarnish the overall experience. Would recommend the hotel.

« Spoiled by having sustained 30 bites »

I arrived back at the hotel on the Wednesday evening and went to bed as normal. Next morning whilst getting ready in the bath room, I noticed red marks on my right cheek. At this time I thought they were heat bumps. As the day progressed, I realsied I had been bitten and that in total over the next 24 hours, I sustained 30 bites. they werent there when I arrived in the room but they were there the next morning. I rang your Duty Manager on Monday 4th December and I have to say I was less than impressed with her response. As I made it very clear, I was calling to bring the matter to her attention not for any other reason. I would suggest training is needed with regard to managing the customer.

First impressions were fabulous, approaching in the dark in late November, the huge Christmas tree and beautiful garden decorations set the mood. Food, facilities and staff were great with a lovely, cosy atmosphere about the place. Would highly recommend.

« Extremely disappointed that I spent my hard earned cash at Brandon Hall, will never do that again »

I regret spending my money at Brandon Hall, I needed a last minute time away to relieve stress, if it were not so I would have left the hotel and gone somewhere else. Arrived 7pm Saturday, receptionist was too distracted, after giving me my key gave directions to my room so fast I didn't hear a thing, I asked her to repeat and she said it same way giving me option for stairs - my luggage consisted medium stroller shoulder bag and a hand bag, an option for lift would have helped. The room I stayed in was so unpleasant, dusty floor I couldn't walk bare foot, my socks picked up so much hair from the dark oak Finished floor it was unbelievable! The bathtub was below 3 star hotel standard, I couldn't have a bath. More hair on bathroom floor and brown marks on the walls .....it was so unpleasant. I ordered room service, the process was good, but the food was diaappointing. Soup of the day came with stale bread that looked like it had been taken off left over plates, it has on its underside drums of other food that I hadn't ordered abs it was hard!, been out for a while, plus no butter was offered. I regret spending over £160 at Brandan Hall, I will never do that again. Shall not go there again nor recommend it to anyone. If it were not that I was tired and stressed out I would have caused a fuss and demanded my cash back and left. It was not a pleasant place and I did not enjoy myself. I did not even bother to go to the spa. That's how upset I was.

When i first evtered my room i was disapointed at the dated look of the room. I found blood on the bsthroom door handle and the shower washed the pain off the ceiling more than it washed me. first night was horrible. The restraunt staff were rude and not customer friendly at all. In my starter I found cling film and when reported did not even get a sorry. There was a group fighting outside my room at 2am and then at 5am the fire alarm went off for no reason. The second day was much better. The spa treatment was great and so we're the staff in the treatment and pool area. The evening meal on the second night was much better and the 2 male waiters were very professional and attentive, if all the staff was like them it would be a great place to stay regularly. We went to relax and found it difficult.

Hotel rooms (46 and 61) are in a very poor condition (things not working and poor cleanliness) and do not live up to the imagery on the website. I would expect this in a very cheap B&B not a Mercure Hotel. Would not stay in another Mercure Hotel again.

I really like the Brandon Hall. It has all the extra little touches that make staying in a hotel a pleasant experience - the scented candles in reception, the log fire, the really comfortable beds. The staff are exceptional. Really lovely and helpful. The only thing that wasn't very good was the UHT milk supplied in the room - two of the packets were out of date and one came out in a lump into my husband's tea. But, the staff supplied a jug of nice fresh milk when we asked for it. Otherwise, it was another great stay (our third time I think) and I'm very keen to stay again.

« There are a couple of admin issues that I think need dealing with. »

I stay regularly at this hotel. On my previous visit (one night, on 17 Nov) I had accidentally left an item of clothing in the wardrobe. I contacted the hotel, as soon as I realised, using the email address provided in the Accor App. No one responded to my email: no acknowledgement, never mind a promise to investigate. So on returning to the hotel this weekend, I asked about my email while I was checking in. I was told this was a house-keeping matter, and someone would be in touch. No one got in touch, so I asked again on check-out. A member of housekeeping staff came to reception to assist, and took me to an office (possibly head of housekeeping) in which my blouse was being kept in a bag. I don't understand why the hotel doesn't contact visitors proactively if items are left in the room, using the details you have. Nor why emails asking for help on such matters are not answered. I would be grateful for some feedback. In addition, an unrelated admin point, I have yet to receive my final account from my stay this weekend.

From the check in to the bar staff to the food service and quality of the same, absolutely faultless. Particularly ‘Chrissy’ who handled the wedding reception food service with aplomb and efficiency whilst managing friendliness too. Brilliant.

« Good, but what i expected. »

Impressed with the presentation of the place. Nice Xmas tree outside, great open fires inside. Bar could (and in my opinion should have) stayed open later. Room was immaculate (though only 1 towel with 2 of us staying there), and the bed was comfy.
