« Comfortable stay »

We stay at the Bush hotel annually for three nights and have now done so for the last few years. We like the convienience of the hotel being right in town coupled with the fact that there is a free car park for guests. We have noticed gradual improvements in the public parts of the hotel notably in the bar, lounge. However the dining room still has a slightly dowdy feel probably due to the brown coloured well worn carpet.

« Good location hotel, a little tired in the communal spaces »

We were staying as a group of 8 (4 doubles) as a wedding party nearby in Farnham. The bedrooms were very good and we were close together as we had requested. However, the bar area and lounge were frankly rather poor. They had very poor lighting and the faint background smell of old carpets that are past their best. The exposed beams and original fittings were not shown off to best advantage. The staff were helpful at all times.

Our room was a great size with all we needed for a good stay. Reine and Natalie made sure we had everything we needed. Everyone has rooms and food- only the Mercure Bush has their staff- everyone will greet you with smile and they will take care of your every need. It's like being at home, or with friends.

Staff always helpful and polite. Greatly helped by fantastic weather which enabled us to spend a lot of time outside enjoying your fabulous grounds.

I was not given the type of room that I booked. Room was clean but cold when I arrived and took a long time to get warm. Food was adequate and staff were pleasant.

« Great Conference Suite, staff and food »

Stayed for a two workshop I was running, the conference facilities, staff and food service where great and exactly what we needed. The experience could only have been made better by the hotel receiving a general refurbishment as it is a little tired in décor and cleanliness. I would use the hotel again.

« Well positioned comfortable hotel. »

A hotel built around an old coachouse. The lounge and bar are the main old parts of the hotel. However the bedrooms are contained in a newer purpose built wing which overlook a very nice garden lawn area. The hotel itself is very well positioned being right in the middle of the township of Farnham. The hotel also has very good free off street parking.

Friendly and welcoming staff. We would have preferred a ground floor room as we have a dog, but the room we had was clean, and everything we needed was supplied. The breakfast was very nice, with a lot of choice to suit different tastes.

The room was spacious but the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything in the adjoining rooms. The food was average.

« Many bookings wrong; service very poor »

We started a block booking in January 2018 for our wedding guests. We brought 18-20 rooms worth of business to you, and you repaid us by: - ruining the night before our wedding, while we spent 20 minutes ensuring that we actually got the room you'd promised us (005) for 6 months, which we had checked on at least twice in the lead up to the wedding. We were subsequently late for the planned wedding dinner we had organised. - putting our disabled friends on the 2nd floor, despite us booking a disabled room and despite them checking a couple of days before arriving - putting our childminder in a single room instead of the family room we'd requested, and that she'd confirmed a few days before - barely answering the phone or emails we had sent to confirm bookings - presenting a group of four people with 2 separate rooms instead of the joined room we requested - being asked to pay for 3 rooms because the booking system was too difficult for the reception staff to understand, and we all had the same surname (it's a wedding!) - presenting us with a cot for our 3 year old son, but had no bedding in the entire hotel to give us for it. - the barman did not know how to make a cocktail, and did not know what cream was. - the checkout process for many people took upwards of 15 minutes for each room. The only positive experience we had in your hotel was a lady called Reine, who was very kind and hospitable when she showed us the room (005) you nearly refused to give us.

« Excellent breakfast but the rest of the hotel is so, so tired »

The saving grace of this entire stay was the breakfast. In all other respects, this is no more than a 2 star standard hotel. Kept awake until 3 am by a noisy, loud party on the first night. Shrieking women and very loud, appalling behaviour. This was below our room and the staff did not appear to care one jot about this. On phoning the 'supposed' 24 hour quality number, the phone was put down on me twice. I then phoned reception and was told that the party had already been spoken to because others had also complained. The location of the bar means that there is access to the garden and any noise will reach just about every room. This is unacceptable. I was told that the bar had been closed now so it should improve. This was 2 am and it did not stop for at least another hour. On arrival I reported that the duvet was unsatisfactory, with all of the interior material in large lumps at the sides, the ends and in the middle. In many places there was nothing more than the cover. The receptionist eventually said they would look into it. They didn't. It was not changed for the whole visit. A bathroom floor tile was cracked and another one very loose which cracked as you walked on it. These were not new breakages because the cracks were not clean. All the bathroom linen was rock hard and very small bath towels. Toilet continued to drip into the night but when I reported that on arrival, I was told there was no maintenance service that weekend. Wonderful !!!! Was originally offered a room upgrade but on arrival was then told that there were none available. Don't offer what you don't have. Also, we had pre-booked dinner for the first night only to be told that the dining room would not be open that night. Receptionist was apologetic but that is not the point. We ate in the bar and the meal was good. The staff and chef looked after us well. It seems that the only thing this place can get right is the food. Everything else in The Bush Hotel needs urgent, major refurbishment because it is certainly not up to standard.

« Tired hotel, loud events, incredibly rude staff »

This trip was terrible. The room and hotel were both fine. But the staff were abysmal. There were 2 loud events that I was not given warning of. I was next door to one of these and not given the option to move rooms despite the hotel being fairly empty. The staff on the desk were incompetent and sexist. It was frankly disgusting how I was spoken to. I sent an email of complaint to the manager and haven’t received a reply. Completely shambolic.

« Disappointing »

Despite booking in on line, I was told “it hadn’t worked” not the end of the world but a little irritating. I had also selected to be considered for an upgrade, this was not mentioned on booking in neither was I told what time breakfast would be I had to ask. But the most disappointing thing was the room itself, the decor was tired, walls had scuff marks (lots of them) the carpet was very stained as were the chair and footstool. I understand the volume of guests that must use the room but these things would not take much effort to correct! The saving grace was that the bed was clean an comfortable and the bathroom was exceptional.

« Room very dated needing renovation »

Very difficult to cool room down, no air con, shower very old and poor pressure, creaking floor boards. Overall the staff very pleasant, but the rooms need a make over. I would not choose to go to the hotel if it were not business
