As always, the staff were 100%. The only areas that are of regular concern are: - the general decor and state of repair, which is slightly jaded - the recent change to room service (no longer tray service, now cardboard boxes, which feels very poor quality. Eating a curry out of a plasticised cardboard box is not a pleasant experience. - your environmental policy regarding towels (only replace them if they are left on the floor or in the bath) is sound, but your cleaning staff need to be told. More often than not the towels are replaced even if I have put them back on the towel radiator.

Food and bar and restaurant service good disabled room 516 had a damp mouldy smell weve stayed in this room quite a few times never had before . We were told that on check out we would be able to use our accor points but couldnt do t his as the girl on reception said she couldnt remember her log in .

The hotel is at a good location for my needs. It is kitted to the usual Accor standards but it feels understaffed. I was sold a restaurant package but the restaurant knew nothing about it. The front desk was undermanned as there was just a single person there most times during my stay. The staff were always polite and helpful when called upon however, checkout, restaurant orders etc took long because of staffing levels.

The worst stay at The Dunkenhalgh ever.

We stayed at the Dunkenhalgh on the 28th September. We booked a spa reviver break, we downgraded to a courtyard room as it was closer to the main part of the hotel. We received a £20 credit which was much appreciated. Our treatments were booked for 16:30 but we didn’t get our treatment until 16:45. The treatments were meant to be 25 minutes long but lasted just under 20 minutes which was a bit disappointing. Whilst we asked for a courtyard room it wasn’t really up to the standard we would expect of a 4 star hotel. Some of the sealant was missing in the bathroom, the carpet was frayed in places and there was a large rip in the curtains. For a double room we were very surprised that the bed was 2 single beds pushed together to create the impression of a large bed. We had a pre dinner drink in the bar, a pint of Guinness and a White wine and Lemonade. Your staff would definitely benefit from some sort of training when it comes to pouring the Guinness as it had no head on it and was extremely poor. Onto dinner in the restaurant, the food as always was amazing albeit the menu was quite limited. Again for a 4 star hotel having menus printed on A4 paper isn’t what you would expect. Putting it into a nice menu cover would at least give the impression of being 4star. Having ordered a steak we expected a steak knife to be provided immediately, we had to ask for one which came 5 minutes after asking. Despite this the service was as good as you would expect. It was our 3rd stay with you and the first time we left a little disappointed

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and always been really pleased however, on this occasion I left feeling disappointed.This was mainly due to the spa and fitness area - It states in all literature that it closes at 8 on a Sunday, when I arrived at 7:20 I was informed that it was closed. I stay at this hotel for the facilities. There are other hotels closer to my work place but this is better with the facilities, so you can understand my disappointment. Further more I then attended the gym and used the sauna steam rooms on the Monday morning and again I have to say disappointing. 2 of the 5 were out of action and oe of the steam rooms smelt really bad. I informed staff but feel this was not really taken on board.

The reason is , cleaning issue when I opened the bedroom window the window were full of spider webs flys and god knows what.m really sorry to say this but I dont class that place more than 2 stars .this was every room window not only one.the bath room the bedroom and the lounge.

Generally adequate.we were unable to upgrade on arrival but added breakfast. Bought bottle water for £3.50 to then be told tea and coffee facilities in the wardrobe?! On the saturday we didnt have any towels and i rang twice to reception for them as we were trying to get ready to go out. The plug on the kettle was loose Generally the room was warm but the furnishings were old and tired and the pillows hard.the mattresses werent much better and pushed together
