Friendly & helpful staff, lovely old fashioned hotel with lots of character located in beautiful grounds. Lovely food however we did feel that the main courses were on the smaller side so we had to order sides for a more substantial meal. There was one dessert option which the waitress didn't know what this was , which I thought was a little poor. She said that this only came onto the menu the evening before and she wasn't working so she hadn't been briefed. I would expect all restaurant staff to know the menu. The swimming pool area could have been tidied up a little more , there were limited beds to lay on that weren't broken, the others had holes in were the wicker or whatever material it was made of was all snapped and messy. Also there wasn't any mats to stop people slipping which I thought was dangerous. Our hotel room 606 was lovely and spacious all clean and tidy with all the facilities we needed however we only had one toilet roll in our bathroom, we did ask for another one which we got though this could have been stocked up proir to our arrival.

On arrival into hotel grounds the hotel looked like a really grand hotel and we were looking forward to our stay. The room was very disappointing though. It was basic which you would expect for the price we paid but it looked dirty and in need of a makeover. There were even dead flies on window sill and net curtains in need of a clean. The bar area was similarly run down with chairs looking dirty and worn. Hotel has great potential but really needs a good clean and makeover

This was our 5th visit and worse! The hotel and spa area were cold. Although I had informed the hotel on 3 occasions, one of them being on the date of our arrival we had a vegan/gluten free guest, nobody knew and nothing was prepared. The evening meal was terrible! The final evening meal invoice was wrong, but all we got was well it balances!!! Not great financial management!!! Our lunch wasn’t great and overpriced!

The spa treatments were fantastic, very very relaxing. Evening meal was fantastic and staff and service was excellent. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the room we stayed in needs a little work. The curtains had mould and there weren’t any towels in the bathroom. He hotel needs a face lift and there are parts and furniture that need replacing as they are tired and broken. We enjoyed our stay and would go again

The service, staff and food were good. The building was interesting but located too close to the busy motorway. Bed should have been consigned to recycling many years ago - worst hotel bed experienced.
