The staff were nice on reception, some of the staff on the bar at the reception we were at were a bit miserable. The room was nice, but I wouldn't describe it as an executive room. All that was executive was a robe, slippers and toiletries, it wasn't worth the price we paid that is for sure. The breakfast experience was terrible, we quid for 30 minutes to get food, which we found the bacon to be extremley salty. This is such a beautiful place and we were very disappointed by the cost and what we got.

Came to stay at the hotel for a friends wedding. Arrived at 13:40 to the carpark and saw a lady stood on the front edge of the carpark. My husband and I got out of Our vehicle also another couple too from the wedding party. We thought we would get out cases out of the hot car and put them in storage at reception and get them later. As the 4 of us were walking Across the car park that lady member of staff ( in her 50”s short red hair) shouted to us “ you can’t check in your rooms are not ready till 2”.. how rude! I casually said “ it’s fine we know we are putting them in reception “ We got to check in and I looked at the clock 1/4 to 2. I mean I’m sorry she was rude and barked across the car park. No “ Good afternoon “ are you with xxx wedding party , let’s assist with your check in. Turns out she looked like the wedding coordinator I think. She embarrassed a lady on our table who had a food allergy and told the whole table she has a lactose in tolerance and here is your meal. Other than that the room was fine. Your greeting and welcomes news to be looked at.

My husband & I stayed recently as my brother was getting married at the venue. We couldn’t fault the wedding itself...food was fabulous, staff attentive & gardens were great. Our bedroom, however, was tired looking & at times unbearably hot due to the beautiful weather and lack of air con or fan. On checking in I went to our room to discover it hadn’t been cleaned even though I was told it had been. Luckily a family member had stayed the night previous and we were able to use her facilities whilst our room was cleaned. Breakfast the morning after the wedding wasn’t a wonderful experience. We understand that having 2 weddings on on the same day leads to very busy breakfast periods but having to queue for 15-20 mins for a self serve buffet was a little ridiculous. Some of the food products that were being brought from kitchen looked undercooked. These issues took the shine off our stay for what was a lovely occasion.

I’ve stayed a number of times at Dunkenhalgh as I work local to the hotel. Lovely building but desperate for a refresh. Tired, old furnishings and just needs some love and investment. Always clean though and friendly staff. Food is also pretty decent in the restaurant. Don’t think the quality of finish backs the price they charge

« Just OK, the front of the hotel is impressive, nothing lived up to the first impression. »

I come from Great Harwood, yet have lived in the South for 35 years, my father and I stayed one night to attend a funeral. The room was clean as was the bathroom, most staff were friendly though the bar could be more welcoming. Breakfast was poor, eggs and bacon both needed to be asked for as they had been left to run out before being replaced, other customers were grumbling and i got the impression this was a problem. Parts of the hotel are shabby and the back buildings are a real let down after first impressions.

Everything was fine apart from the lack of air con in the room. Also the blinds were inadequately fitted and let too much light in. This resulted in a very poor nights sleep which you are guaranteed with another chain of hotels. The hotel overall was great, the spa area could do with a bit of attention. Steam room not very steamy. If I had to stay in the area again, I would either ask for a better room or stay elsewhere

Unable to book room due to lack of knowledge of staff, manager managed to book me a room left a voice mail for me, I turned up and no room available. Edwina very rude to me regarding my lactose intolerance in front of a table of ten people at a wedding. Room barely clean. Staff less than helpful. Breakfast full of flies, after a long wait.

In the spa the Jacuzzi wasn't working and hadn't been for a few weeks. On one of the hottest days of the year the ice machine wasn't working - but staff had no idea it wasn't working and hadn't been told by manager that it wasn't working. There were flies in the restaurant but we were told that if they sprayed them it would go in the food. What about using light zappers. In food establishments, you need to in this extreme weather. We've eaten elsewhere and not had this problem. Our food was very dry and not very nice. Last time I ate there the food was lovely so don't know why this has changed. So overall we weren't impressed. The staff were friendly so it's not their fault. The place needs an overhaul, it has so much potential it is a shame really. My partner doesn't want to go again and I'm not fussy but don't think i'll be coming back if she doesn't fancy it. Cheers

« It was good but kind of expensive for what it was to be honest. »

Afternoon tea needs more bigger sandwiches. Should offer Brown bread and dietary requirements for guests as a reminder. Was told things were sorted out by a member of staff in the room as we asked for a fan and single bed but there was nothing in the room. Staff should add notes for special requirements on the system and input updates when things have been provided. That way staff don't assume things are done without checking.
