« Good weekend stay »

The stay was good. Pleasant greeting from the trainee on reception who was being well supported by her colleague. Our room, 103, in the extension is tired and the bathroom is quite cramped. Definitely could do with a refurb. Breakfast was good, lots of variety and quality.

« Nice staff, but room far too noisy »

Staff were very pleasant. Bed was comfortable, and room clean. The first room we were given had three large vents just outside the window, which were very noisy. The receptionist then kindly spent some time finding another room for us. However, this was on the front of the building near a junction, and the noise prevented us sleeping for more than a few hours.

« welcoming and comfortable »

Great experience. Very accommodating when we needed a particularly early check in. Room was quite basic and bathroom in need of redecorating, but comfortable enough.

« Great stay at Mercure Salisbury White Hart Hotel »

We had a wonderful stay at the White Hart in Salisbury and it was great to see the city so busy after the recent sad events. Lovely place and IF you have NOT been already there can thoroughly recommend a visit to the Mercure White Hart,.

« Another stay at Mercure Salisbury »

Check-in was rather horrendous! Sunday afternoon at 3.00 pm, people everywhere, kids chasing dogs and the noise level so loud it was most difficult to hear the receptionist, a young girl and Alex. The credit card machine was not working and they could not put the payment for the second room through on the other machine as it was for the bar and restaurant. As we had two rooms booked, they then took the liberty of charging one room for five nights car parking when they did not have a vehicle, the other room only had a vehicle for three nights. We have stayed here many times previously and had no problems. Only for the convenience for us we probably would not stay here again. One young receptionist could barely understand and speak English. Sam, the young male, was most obliging and thank goodness he was often on reception.

« a pleasant stay »

on arrival nice we saw a young lady in reception who was helpful and informative. the room was clean and a good size, the bathroom was very small and a bit tired in decoration, the hot water for the sink was VERY hot, but not quite so hot in the shower. the lighting in the room was very poor, there was quite a large gap under the door to the corridor. good location and parking helpful.

« Great place to stay for business »

Nice quiet room near many sites, pubs, and businesses in town. A great place to rest while on business travel. The breakfasts are a nice way to start the day.

« A favourite in Salisbury »

I always stay here, when in Salisbury. The welcome at the reception is always warm, and all the staff are very helpful and kind. The food was good again, especially breakfast. My only problem was that my room on the 2nd floor was far too warm. There was no air conditioning in this room, which made sleeping a bit of a problem. I did not mention until I was checking out, when I was told I could have asked for a fan.

« Room awful, staff great »

room in dire need of refurbishment; bedroom chair dirty and threadbare, headboard 4ft 6, bed 6ft (bizarre), paintwork peeling, just shabby and miserable (we have photos if required). Staff polite and helpful, especially restaurant manager at breakfast.

« Friendly staff »

Someone had taken our room after we checked in but staff were so lovely and upgraded the room and bent over backwards to assist. Impressed with your reception staff!

« Fundamentally good - but tatty around the edges »

The hotel is a good structure- its clearly been there a long time. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was also good. 2 major areas where the hotel falls down in this modern age:- 1) There is a LOT of building work needed - rotten wood and water damage was evident in many areas 2) Room ventilation is poor. The windows are limited to opening just a few inches, there is no through-draft and no air-conditioning. This makes the rooms incredibly uncomfortable in warm weather.

« Good »

Front desk staff very helpful changing my room so I could check in early. Booked me a taxi and then very helpful finding alternative company when first taxi didn't show up.

Warm greetings from the staff. Went out of their way to do things that weren't in their job description.

Great staff, nice interior. Only complaint was no air conditioning and room got quite hot. Other than that great.

« Door-slamming hell »

Although the hotel's web site says that air conditioning is available in "most" rooms, the hotel was nearly full when we arrived and we were assigned a room without A/C, away from the street but above a car park and a neighbor's back yard. With no ventilation but a cheap rotating fan, we had to keep the windows open at night, which meant we had to listen to the neighbor's dog barking all night, and car engines revving and car doors slamming beginning early in the morning. Worse, with solid wood doors and solid wood doorframes, most people don't know how to close their doors without slamming them shut, and the slamming echoed throughout the floor. Basically nobody could rest until the last reveler came in. The hotel is in a historic building, which no doubt explains the lack of elevators. But it doesn't explain the noisy floorboards or the threadbare rugs or the antiquated bathrooms. OK, breakfast was good, with a few individually cooked options as well as a small selection of buffet items.
