« The hotel needs renovating »

I have stayed here a few times.. first time I have answered the survey.. and I will stay again... my room was 119, the tv volume didn’t work, shower rail loose... the plug sockets are always difficult to use... checking out always takes long... as does checking in... often queues (not on this occasion though)... its a lovely building but just run down and looking old. Salisbury lacks a really good hotel, you have the opportunity to be that. The staff are always polite and look like they are doing there best..

Room clean and warm. Bar area cosy and staff friendly. A copy of New York times was delivered to my door in the morning even though I didnt order any newspapers.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. In the room the curtain pelmet was falling down. It wasn’t possible to use the bath taps without the hand-held shower running at the same time. The towel rail in the bathroom was not working.

A group of stayed and had a private meal after an event we were attending. The meal was fine. Our bedroom was smaller than the one we have had in previous years.

« Tired but comfortable »

This traditional hotel is very well situated within Salisbury and the car park is very convenient, although I was surprised at having to pay for parking bearing in mind the cost of the room. The staff are friendly and helpful and suggested a recommended route to see the cathedral. When we arrived it was raining quite hard and the ceiling windows in the foyer were leaking over the carpet, this has obviously been happening for a while judging by the condition of the wooden trim and I am surprised this has been allowed to get to such a state. The room was warm and comfortable and the bed enormous, the bathroom basin was a bit loose and made me wary of leaning over it to see in the mirror. The bathroom had old fashioned tiles which made the room look a little tired in comparison to other hotels. The wifi was fast and reliable and the flat screen tv was fine although the remote didn't work. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful with a great choice.

« Lovely hotel in a great location »

The hotel is very cozy, warm and welcoming. My check-in experience was very good - the male receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The room I was given was nice and had a 4 poster bed. The bed was quite comfortable but the mattress was too soft. As it is an old building with old wooden floors the floors are quite 'creeky' but overall I had a very pleasant experience.

It is a delightful old hotel in walking distance of the centre of Salisbury. We had a lovely room (upgraded for our wedding anniversary) and were very pleased with it - very comfortable. Would recommend.

« Very friendly and helpful staff, very quiet and restful room, rather a long corridor to get to it. »

It was good; we appreciated the proximity to the Cathedral, and to our being able to come and go as we pleased, and to leave our luggage with you after we had actually signed out (as we had to change our onward plans as the trains weren't running. The person on duty was extremely helpful in assisting us in changing our plans

« Needs some TLC »

Starting to look tired. Water marks on the paintwork. Buckets lined up to capture water dripping from ceiling after having some rain. Room needs a makeover, bathroom looks old wouldn't have paid for the upgrade into a 4 poster bedroom if I knew how tired the room looked. Your budget range Ibis hotels are in better condition. Fire Alarm went of early one morning, stopped, went off again, stopped, went off again......think the water leak may have short circuited the alarm system.

Had a comfortable stay but hotel needs an injection of cash. It is looking tired and the paint is peeling, water ingress is evident on the walls. Bathrooms look tired too. On the morning of our stay we were woken abruptly when the fire alarm went off, but within a few seconds it was turned off, then it went off again several times. Walking into the dining room we had to pass a row of buckets catching water running through the ceiling. It sounds like rainwater may have caused a short circuit and set off the fire alarm. Not impressed as I had paid for an upgrade. If I had known the standard then I would not have paid. Due to fire alarm going off, the gas in the kitchen turned off. So breakfast requests other than the standard buffet could not be cooked. Finally, before heading to bed i approached the reception to ask about the timing for breakfast. The young lady was sitting away from the reception desk on the phone talking to a customer. When she finished, she remained sitting and asked if she could help. I think it would have been more polite for her to stand, approach the desk and then talk to us.

Disappointed that Manager never got back to me after i connected with a question on LinkedIn 're booking fee. very efficient young man on check in which was positive. dreadful pillows and quality of duvet.. if travel lodge can do it, why can't you? Very offputting. Water in room please? overall it's a nice hotel but management needs to be more in evidence (although to be fair, we checked in late and left after breakfast). good value . a Massive gripe is how long it took to answer phone during working day then trying to get through. made me very grumpy!

We both enjoyed our 2 night stay in the Mercure White Hart Hotel, Salisbury. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean and cheerfully decorated. Breakfast was particularly good. The staff were very attentive and the seating was comfortable. Check in/out was very smooth and the seating in the reception area was really comfortable. The Hotel is only about a mile from Salisbury Station and a short walk from the cathedral. There are some lovely old pubs nearby where you can get a good meal.
