Everything else was really good except for the quilt that had blood stain on it. Otherwise the location, service and the overall experience was really good. Specially the two managers Sandeep and Sonal were outstanding.

The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable, and the staff extremely helpful. Being in the centre of the city, we found it very easy to walk out and about to view the many sights.

I recently stayed at the Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square Hotel. To be honest, the room was clean and provides the necessary hotel experience for a comfortable night's sleep. However, first obstacle we faced was to locate the hotel carpark. There were no clear signs directing us and we made 4 rounds the building before having to stop by the side of the road and one of us running into the hotel lobby to ask for help. I was then advised that there is a carpark for the hotel, but there are no more available lots and therefore, I was suggested to either valet park at $45 per day, or park at the public carpark nearby at my own risk. We decided to park on our own, and while lugging our luggage through the pebbled carpark towards the hotel, we saw that there were actually two empty lots within the hotel carpark. When I asked the concierge about it, was just briefly told that the lots belong to other guests. The check-in process was rushed, and we were not given any details about where to have the complimentary welcome drink or which level the F&B outlets are located. After checking in, no one from the front desk or concierge asked if we needed help with our luggage, which I thought would be a basic from major hotel chains. The entire bad experience is luckily saved by a very friendly and approachable lady service staff at the restaurant. She had a positive outlook, was always ready to serve and delight the patrons. I probably will not go back to this hotel if I had a choice. Service is what makes or breaks in this industry and this hotel has definitely not fared well.

Hello Y_Xinling Thank you for your great feedback regarding your recent stay with us Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square Firstly i apoligise for the parking issues. We do have 2 large a frame signs and signage on the posts outside the hotel which is all we are allowed to display in the cathedral square.. We do send all guests a email with parking instructions prior to there arrival but we can only contact guests that book directly with us at the hotel and not via third party websites. You have provided some particularly valuable insights to the arrival experience that I’ve been able to discuss with my respective teams. I’d also like to apologise for the areas that didn’t meet your expectations. I'm very pleased to hear the service of our staff made your stay more enjoyable. I appreciate your sharing your thoughts

Novotel Christchurch is in a good location, the rom is adequate (although the room layout and amenities are quite odd), it was good to see they had put labels on drawers etc so I knew where to locate the jug etc.

The Novotel Christchurch Cathederal Square is in great location for restaurants and the tramway. Our wine tour picked us up from the hotel. The Gondola bus stop was maybe fifty meters from our hotel so that was also very easy. The Novotel is basically in the CBD so shopping and pubs were an easy walk. Overall a pleasant stay.

Staff were helpful. Our room had a dirty towel apon arrival. Tea wasn't restocked, mugs were rinsed and put away, but I don't believe they were washed as they had coffee stains around the base. Rooms were very cluttered with furniture but when we asked to removed excess they did so happily. We needed to store our car for one night, we were not told about the $15 open air storage until we mentioned using the valet in passing. Fortunately Kush advised and sorted, he was a marvellous concierge.

Overall satisfied with hitel. Comfortable room, well lit and cozy. Could be better if restaurant had more vegetarian options so we didn't have to buy from outside. Would've appreciated inclisioj of basic amenity of toothpaste at room. Also who cannot do with free wifi for a high end 4 star hotel?

Christchurch city centre seems to be quite deserted compared to pre-earthquake, and it feels a bit too quiet for a city centre. With the Novotel being in the city centre, it was unexpectedly quiet and hardly seen other visitors or staff around! There is at most 2 staff in the lobby (one at front desk and one at concierge) - however usually just one which makes the hotel feel quite empty and less welcoming. Entering and leaving the hotel, there is minimal eye-contact which again seems rather impersonal even for the Novotel brand. Rooms were clean and nicely done - so that was a pleasant experience.

Good points - Excellent location. The room was very clean and the complimentary energy balls snack was an unexpected pleasure and much appreciated. All the staff were professional but very pleasant and welcoming. The restaurant is very good and the waiting staff were brilliant and very friendly. I had drinks and dinner there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience as I was well looked after by them. Breakfast was very good. Bad points - The mattress was too soft and did not provide a good enough support. There was a knocking sound in my room and I could not ascertain where it came from but I could hear it distinctly. It continued throughout the night but I was able to sleep through it as I was unwell and on medication which put me to sleep. The shower in the bathtub was not a good idea as a substantial amount of water pooled on the bathroom floor when the shower screen was swung out after a shower. This is hazardous when getting out of the bathtub as one could slip on the wet floor. It would have been better to just have a shower cubicle without a bathtub. Overall I had a great stay and would choose The Novotel for future visits.

I was disappointed. The room deodorant was overpowering and carpet badly stained. A corner of the shower was disgustingly black with mould. And the layout! What can I say. You have the fridge by the vanity, mini bar on the left side of the work desk, then the work desk and then tucked into the right corner was jammed the tea and coffee making stuff. It was just so inconvenient as the desk chair is in the way and there is no room to move it out of the way because of the bed! It made no sense to me to have it set up like that! I have stayed in Novotel before and this was probably the worst one I have stayed in. Very disappointing. Particularly when I just came from an absolutely immaculate and spotless boutique hotel in Dunedin for the same price as you guys charge!
