« Very nice hotel but not for staffs »

The hotel location is very nice ! Just 1~2 min by walk after get off "竹子林" station (Exit B2) Subway line 2. Facilities, Amenities, Meal taste everything are excellent ! But several staffs are without skill ! The breakfast time is till to 10:30. Around after 09:00, they never fill up (no replenish) foods and drinks anymore.Several customers faced expty drinks or foods but staffs don't care. Staffs are without smile, when customer asked some ordered food, look they are unhappy. Pretending never picked up even customers things fall on the floor. They are just talking each other but not working well what they should do. Some are without language skill too.Personally problem was "Laundry". I confirmed the complimetary service before I used the Laundry service, they are charging when I checked out. So, what they recorded my confirmation ? I have being stayed the same Mercure hotels at another countries (India and Thailand), not like that ! It is a shame though this hotel equivalent to a five star ! Staffs should be trained more skillful !

I was little worried to stay in this hotel due to recent fire during typhoon. Maria of Executive lounge assured me all is well and I should stay in this hotel as usual whenever I am in Shenzhen. I trusted her and stayed. The experience was as good as my previous stay. The front office executive Ms Susan was very good in assisting me and gave me a newly renovated bay suite 1802. This suite looks more cosy and welcome.

I stayed here for many years now and this is a solid hotel, now with a renovated and expanded food area. I can only recommend this hotel. Great staff, from the cleaning staff, technical staff and the people around the hotel areas as reception, lounge, restaurant. I will stay there again next time I am visiting Shenzhen.

« As good as ever »

My stay in this hotel was as good as my many previous stays. I was a little apprehensive to stay in this hotel this time due to a mishap (fire) which happened during the typhoon in September 2018. Ms Maria of the Executive club who was on leave still managed to convince me to stay and Ms Susan of front desk helped me use my Accor points to partly pay for my bills. She gave me suite no 1802 which is recently refurbished and is lot more cosy. Being a gold member I would normally been upgraded but this did not happen understandably due to non operating upper floor rooms. Still no regrets.

Internet wouldnt hold up in the room. Dropped out every 5 mintues. Very overpriced hotel for what it is. Coffee machines need to be upgraded in the breakfast buffet.

« I can sum up what made our stay very enjoyable in 2 words,”THE STAFF’. »

From arrival to check-in, to restaurant service, the staff could not have done anymore for us. It’s the small things that often make the difference, such as some of your young waiting staff when not being able to understand our English when requesting poached Eggs, went out of their way to find a gentleman who took care of the problem. Then next morning, the staff were proactive, asking if we would like the same order for breakfast as yesterday. Good to have staff that show initiative and make you feel welcome. We must at this time make particular reference to one of your conciergeS, David. Ever helpful, going all out to help us in everything from getting some last minute tailoring alterations done, to arranging cars, assisted with finding a parking solution for our Chinese friend (business colleague). Sorting out new phone cards to enable us to get a Chinese number. Translator/ anytime he noticed us struggling with the language, he would quickly come to the rescue. The room/suite was very well sorted, with the only issues being, awoken at 1:am by an enormous crashing sound, so loud that we at first thought it to be a bomb exploding nearby. Upon further investigation, we discovered the very large pot plant standing in the corner of the lounge area of the suite had toppled over and smashed. The 2nd issue was the plumbing in the bathroom, the taps tended to leak around the top of the tap itself. Not a major problem but does need rectification. Then on the last night there, the toilet blocked and almost overflowed, stopping just cms from the top. Another comment or suggestion that we would like to suggest, if you have booked a suite with kitchen facilities, a selection of crockery and cutlery, bowls and other implements would be good to have. It was disappointing not to have the 25th floor lounge available as we do like to sit back and relax with a quiet drink after a busy day. Not really possible with so many children running around everywhere. On our list of privileges extended, it did mention the availability of International newspapers or magazines. Not offered. One last suggestion for the restaurant staff. We are now staying at the Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao, where we noticed when going down to breakfast yesterday, they had a notice by the egg station in English showing the various egg dishes available i.e. FRIED / SUNNYSIDE / OMELETTE / POACHED/SCRAMBLED etc. It is just a small thing but one that can stop a lot of frustration.

The location is quite good for the first trip to Shenzhen. In the center and closed to the most important road connecting 2 different districts. However there are not many good-quality restaurants around the hotel, the surrounding shopping is not good neither. Most of all, the bed is not comfortable at all, not matched with a 5-star hotel.
