Hotel over-booked: no room for me.

Customer review rating 4.2/5

Jr Business - 10/10/2019 AccorHotels review

I didn't stay with you because you were unable to honour my booking. This is about the worst thing a hotel can do. You did find me alternative accommodation, which was fine, but this is not what one wants to happen when arriving in a distant city late at night with an important day to follow.

A lovely hotel - well placed to explore Bristol

Treated myself to a view with a view of the River. Fantastic facilities in the room - coffee making machine, iron and ironing board, A WONDERFULLY COMFORT BED. The staff were welcoming on arrival and extremely helpful all through my stay. I'm trying to find a space in my diary to return.

Good hotel in a good location

Pleasant stay, friendly staff, breakfast a bit meager.

Noisy and not uplifting Brigstow

Customer review rating 4.2/5

Aj Business - 05/10/2019 AccorHotels review

The room was perfectly adequate and everything worked satisfactorily. However, the guests were frequently noisy (0130 and 0200 being popular) and the street noise from the drunks also carries up the building. Whilst my room was perfectly adequate, it wasn’t so for my senior French colleague who had a malfunctioning shower that wasn’t fixed during the day and needed a room change when we returned in the evening. Perhaps a language issue but somehow I doubt it as his English is exemplary. Two other colleagues noted that the breakfasts were overblown, cooked to death and not very pleasant. It’s probably the last time the five of us stay at the Brigstow.

Booked as a trip to celebrate my wife’s birthday. After a very hectic week for us both, the location was perfect and room wonderful. All the staff were lovely and we felt relaxed and refreshed after 2 nights.

Really lovley

Rachel Couples - 01/10/2019 AccorHotels review

The room and bathroom were lovely, we had a lovely view of the river and everything was spotlessly clean. The facilities were a bit of a let down as room service for the restaurant menu closes at 10pm but the room service food and drink menu states 24 hours but I was told that they don't do room service after 10pm and that there is a shop around the corner to buy water and soft drinks and use Just Eat for food! The only thing I was very disappointed with was the breakfast, the staff were quite rude and almost tried to rush the customers so they could clean the tables, the selection wasn't great and didn't look appetising, I asked for a pastry and croissants and was told that if they are not on the table then no I can't have any because the pastry basket has been refreshed twice!. Overall the hotel was nice, the reception area was a bit grotty and could do with an update, the rooms were a nice size, modern and clean, the view was lovely and we had floor to ceiling windows so it was nice to lie in bed and look at the river and the boats. Some of the staff were very pleasant and helpful but others we rude and not at all helpful. Breakfast was terrible. If I were ever to stay again I would book room only and go out to one of the many nice cafes and coffee shops to eat there.

I arrived very late due to delayed flight and the phone was not picked up for a very long time when I was ringing to advise I would be well after midnight. Then there was a problem taking the payment and the person on the desk was not able to resolve. The room was lovely as I was upgraded to the Privilege room overlooking the river. However, it was not serviced during the day. When I checked out, I asked for the normal bill to be sent to my email address but there was a problem with it and I still have not received it. Each time I went to the front desk there seemed to be queue. I have stayed here before several times and the experience is usually very good. This is my preferred hotel in Bristol as the location is very nice, but just this once, there seemed to be problems.

Fantastic facilities- privilege room; Truly enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast; Shame bathroom TV didn't work; Could have some more toiletries such as make-up remover;

JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Nina M. Families - 25/09/2019 AccorHotels review

THE STAFF WERE WONDERFUL, HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. THE POSITION WAS JUST WHERE WE WANTED TO BE. BUT THE ROOM WAS DISAPPOINTING FOR A MID-RANGE HOTEL; NO KING-SIZED BED OR EVEN A DECENT TOPPER MATTRESS AND NOT ENOUGH LARGE TOWELS. THE TOILETRIES SEEMED IIMPOSSIBLE TO UNDO; I USED MY TEETH IN THE END. SLEEP WAS ALSO IMPOSSIBLE; PARTY MUSIC UNTIL 2 AND THE SEAGULLS FROM 4. OF COURSE THE HOTEL IS IN A SOCIAL AREA BUT YOU NEED TO SOUNDPROOF YOUR WALLS AGAINST THE NOISE. FINALLY, THE BREAKFAST WAS PROBABLY THE WORST I'VE EVER EATEN; NOT ENOUGH CHOICE IN THE DELI AREA, NO COFFEE/TEA POT BROUGHT TO THE TABLE ONLY GROTTY MACHINE COFFEE AND THE COOKED BREAKFAST WAS COLD AND CONGEALING. NOT JUST GOOD ENOUGH, MERCURE BRIGSTOW; IT'S COME BACK PREMIER INN ALL IS FORGIVEN!!!
