We always stay at the Brigstow when we overnight in Bristol.

As expected. A loo brush would be a useful addition to the bathroom.

In spite of two step upgrades, the increase of price was not worth it.

My main complaint is the way you organise the servicing of the hotel from the road. On both mornings we were awakened, and kept awake, by the noise of refuse lorries and other service vehicles operating at the front of the hotel. This was from approx 6.30 onwards. I know this work has to be done but I can't believe it's necessary for a vehicle to keep its engine running continuously for more than half an hour. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. But for whatever reason certain requests we made to them were not fulfilled, that is for a wake up call, extra coat hangers and a sheet to replace the duvet.

Had a pleasant stay at the Mercule Brigstow hotel as we always do when we stay at the Mercule group. However, l resent that we paid extra for a riverside view when in actual fact no views are possible because of the trees. I'm sure that in the winter months when the trees have no leaves there are views but in the summer it is not possible to see the river or anything else but the tree tops.

Anonymous Couples - 14/08/2019 AccorHotels review

I have already emailed you direct regarding our stay, and have now copied that email below. I feel that I have to write to express our concern regarding the change of standards at your hotel. We arrived on Saturday 10th August around 12.30pm and were told that our room would not be ready until after 2.00pm as house-keeping had ‘t finished servicing the rooms. We returned to the hotel after 3.00pm and our room was available. We had upgraded using your eStandby Upgrade option to a Privilege Room. On entering our room it was immediately clear that it had n’t been hoovered as there were still party stars on the floor from the previous occupants. Not wanting to cause a fuss we said nothing. Sadly we also found on Sunday when we returned to our room in the afternoon, that it still had n’t been hoovered, the waste bin had n’t been emptied and apart from the bed being made and milks being put in the fridge, little else had been carried out to service the room. We have stayed several times at your hotel over the last 5 years. We have n’t visited in the last 18 months and have found some distinct changes. Brilliant what you have done to the restaurant area on the ground floor. Breakfast choice and availability is still very good too. However, your house keeping now is of a very low standard. We were particularly dismayed having opted to upgrade and expected to stay in a well serviced bedroom. You may need to look into the poor house-keeping that is currently occurring on the sixth floor of your hotel. We stayed in room 605. We did not mention this problem when we checked out, as there were other guests in the reception area, and did not want to cause a scene. Consequently I am emailing you instead to make you aware of this problem, which should be rectified to prevent other guests experiencing the same problem. I shall be interested to receive a reply regarding my concerns.

The hotel was fine but is it worth the premium price

Customer review rating 4.3/5

Steven L. Business - 14/08/2019 AccorHotels review

I normally stay in Ibis / Holiday Inn or Premier Inn. I am not sure this hotel deserved the premium price charged. The room was large, there were no plugs beside the bed(s). The breakfast was fine, not remarkable. The reception area was fine but not shiny, spotless. The lifts were a bit grubby. Overall it was neither good nor bad.

Not what I expected from Accor.

Only one lift was working and on one day we had to go down 5 flights of stairs as that one was not working either. On two of the three nights that we stayed we tried to have dinner at the Buttermilk and Maple and both times the place was absolutely empty with not even one table occupied to be told very offhandedly that the were too busy and could not take us- even though they knew we were staying at the hotel. Would I recommend this hotel again - NO.

Disappointing Room

Customer review rating 4.3/5

Leo Business - 13/08/2019 AccorHotels review

I use Accor hotels a lot, but the Bristol Mercure is not great. The rug in the room had not been hoovered and the bathroom is pretty awful. The shower is not pleasant to look at with black marks on the joints and panel warping. Not somewhere I would choose to stay again. Service was acceptable although I should say my email asking for parking details had to be followed by a call as no one got back to me.

great experience from check-in to check-out - the only negative was paying extra to select river/harbour view and only being able to see a tree.

Comfortable stay in a lovely room.

Margaret Couples - 12/08/2019 AccorHotels review

We were pleased to have a lovely room which was quiet in spite of the busy area outside. The room was perfect on arrival but on subsequent nights the room service was not up to standard. Towels and bath mat missing, meaning a ring to reception very late at night, milk and water not replaced in fridge . Breakfast was adequate but the cooked items were often dried up. We’v stayed here several times and felt the standard of service has deteriorated sadly.

Everything was fine except as usual there was a lot of noise outside. perhaps I should ask for a room not facing the water. The bottles are collected very early on in the morning. Otherwise excellet value and service

Hotel location great room good although maybe could do with a bit of redecoration. Was annoyed to be told no room service when ordering, clearly stated in all literature and website that 24 hr room service was available, thank goodness for Uber eats.

Nice hotel - dodgy lift

Customer review rating 4.3/5

Simon Business - 09/08/2019 AccorHotels review

Bedroom was well appointed and clean. Breakfast was nice On the first night the restaurant was closed for a coach party - but the room service was OK. On the second night all of the lifts broke down - a long way up the stairs to the top floor..........The manager told me that they knew the lifts were old.........I was feeling non-judgemental until he said that - if you know the asset is old, invest in update or renewal!!!! That said, not a bad hotel and would stay here again.

Gorgeous suite but noisy fan in ceiling meant no sleep

Customer review rating 4.3/5

Dj Business - 08/08/2019 AccorHotels review

The suite was beautiful (booked a privilege room) but there was a fan rattling all night above the en-suite door. I had no sleep - when I checked out I told the guy on reception who just said 'ok, thanks for telling me'. very disappointing !
