« FANTASTIC »

Fantastic room, restaurant & bar, Staff are exceptional. Nice area outside to sit and relax and watch the river. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A stay at Mercure Bristol Brigstow Hotel is a must. We will be going back again this year.

We paid for a upgrade to a suite with far reaching views over Bristol and stayed two nights.The rooms were clean airy and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable.We will definitely return.

The hotel overall is nice, but is seriously over priced for the service you receive. Even though you can check in online, you still have to wait till later in the day to actually get into your room. Also, breakfast is an extra charge even though you have paid a lot for your room.

I had a terrible nights sleep. We were staying at the back of the hotel and throughtout the night people were loading bins and banging. It does not seem that providing an uninterrupted night sleep for your guests is important to your hotel.

First they check us in a disability room had to go downstairs to change it. The Room we had was dirty you can see the cobwebs on the ceiling. The heavy dust on the floor and carpets. Towels were very hard not soft. Bed was uncomfortable. Need to replace towels The room was very dusty you can see the heavy dust. Even on the ceiling there are cobwebs. The towels were hard not fluffy. Those towels need to go i wouldn't even dry my dog with that when he gets a bath. Need to upgrade bathroom. The sink every time you wash hands the water spill on counter. Even the mirrors in the bathroom was not clean and the other mirrors. I dont know if the stain is the glass was stain permanently but it was not clean. Travelodge is better than this hotel even cheaper and bed is comfortable place is clean and up to date. Very disappointed seen that i paid 190 for 2 nights.

The staff were always very helpful but when I told them about the newspapers I wanted delivered they said our room was entitled to any. I had to check my app and show them that as a Silver member we were entitled to a free newspaper, welcome drink etc. Also, when we checked out I was bit surprised that I wasn't able to get a print out on the bill until I had actually paid it, which seemed a bit odd.

Lovely hotel, great breakfast and currently very reasonable. Only downside expensive parking nearby (even with hotel discount). We miss the cake you used to have in the room - now replaced with cheap biscuits! Bath towels not very large - o.k. For us but probably wouldn’t wrap around larger guests.

I booked a one night stay for my wife and I so that we could relax after a late evening meal at a nearby restaurant. On-line check in was easy and a reasonable deal was secured. Check-in on the day was straight forward and the allocated room overlooking the waterway was clean, tidy but small. Particularly appreciated was a refrigerator that had obviously replaced a mini-bar that had originally been installed - the sticker for the mini-bar was still on the door! The problem was external noise. The hotel location is near to outlets offering late night food, drink and amusements and despite this being a cold March evening the noise of shouting and jollification continued right through to 4 am! We did not sleep. The room has basic double glazing but this did little to keep the noise out - proper triple glazing is necessary! Breakfast was OK - buffet style with rubber fried eggs but a decent cup of coffee required extra payment - the machine coffee was predictably awful. On the credit side all staff we met were helpful and friendly.

« Good, but disappointed in the end »

I have stayed at the Brigstow on a few occasions now. The last time I stayed the battery died on my door lock. There were no other rooms available so if I wanted to pop out for a cigarette I had to leave my room door slightly ajar. I didn’t complain too much as these things happen. This stay, I got out of my bed in the morning to find a biscuit! I presume it was in the blanket thing that sits at the end of the bed. It was accompanied by an assortment of hairs. As you can imagine, this wasn’t a pleasant experience! So, now my memory of the brigstow has been tainted somewhat. I am in Bristol fairly regularly. I stay at the Brigstow often as it’s close to the theatre. I generally enjoy it, although these two experiences have made me question whether I would stay again. I look forward to hearing what you can do to convince me otherwise ; be it refund, discount or rewards points. The last two experiences have not met the standards I would expect from the mercure brand. Martin

I've known this hotel for a few years. I like its location and the excellent customer service, quite apart from its pleasant ambiance. This time I'd say that from my initial booking, to a booking change, to the room I was allocated (high and not close to the lift), and service throughout my short stay, it was perfect all the way.

« Breakfast was till 10am? »

Having read the trip advisor reviews we were slightly nervous beforehand,however, we were pleasantly surprised. Upgraded to a better room which was good. The stay was great - quiet room, well appointed. We slept late and knew we wouldn’t make the 10am breakfast deadline. We were however irritated to then walk past the hotel and see that breakfast was being served - presumably to non residents? I would appreciate clarification over this as we feel we paid for a breakfast that we didn’t receive.
