« NO air con in the hotel »

Overall it was ok, the reception staff was nice, the hotel is in the center of the city. There is parking on the street. The room we got was large but very basic. But the worst part was the fact that there was no AC in the room. Even though it wasn't that hot outside, it was unbearable inside the room. We paid so much money for this hotel and we could not even get the basic thing such as AC which should be standard in hotels like these. We also had to walk a lot to get to the tiny little elevator we could barely fit with the luggage and a stroller. There was no kettle in the room.

« Good stopover point heading home. »

Layout of hotel is confusing, not helped by the fact that it is bot explained to you on arrival. We stayed at 3 different hotels on this trip. Each offered a welcome drink but this was the only hotel that only offered one drink per room, the others offered two drinks, one per guest.

« Dunkerque »

Good hotel with excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Plumbing can be a bit on a loud side. Security needs to be looked at as there was a strange person wondering the corridors. I would, however, recommend it for a short stay as it was a good value for the money.

« Outdated rooms »

Outdated room (118), no airco, no mechanical ventilation in the bathroom. Ceiling paint flaking and falling down. For this price I've stayed in much better (Ibis) rooms. Breakfast is good, restaurant is also nice. Staff of the resaturant is more friendly than the staff at the reception.

« Ridiculous. Probably the worst stay ever. No response from the GM »

The hotel is not built for warm days and the GM and his team have done no planning or thought about the inconveniences guests would face on such days. Our rooms were stuffy, no ventilation inspite of opening the window(Oh and the terrace outside our room window was full of cigarette butts and junk and smelly). The lady at the counter after more than 15 minutes of reasoning , got us 1 fan which didn't help much. We still had our kids room which was unbearably hot and stuffy but "no can do" was the answer to our request for another fan at the least. We asked to speak to the GM but the GM does not come to work on the weekends or wants to talk to any guests (wow.. excellent guest service!!) We could not sleep. Probably one of our most horrible stays ever in a hotel and probably the most callous attitude of a hotel manager / GM we've come across.

Dear ARVIND N., I take note of your comment and thank you for writing to me. I'm sorry you suffered from the heat, which is quite exceptional for our region right now. We do not have air conditioning it is true, and I put the remark to the investors and owner of the hotel with pleasure. We only had one fan to lend you because all the others were already in the room and I am really sorry. About me, since I'm so bad, I'll explain my situation: I'm not at the hotel all weekend because as it is provided in French law, I was at rest. Yes, like any employee, I have the right to 2 days of rest per week. Also, my wife gave birth to my two daughters 2 days before the date of your arrival. I was on paternity leave. Although I was at the maternity ward, I took the time to answer my colleague on the phone and confirm to tell you that I will refund your rooms. Which I did. You do not mention it in your message. I am sincerely sorry that you have judged my availability insufficient, but indeed, even if I am at the service of my clients, I feel entitled to enjoy my newly born children. It is not my habit to have to justify myself to my clients, but in view of the content of your remarks I thought it important to do so I will be happy to show you my professionalism and that of my team and my full availability for our clients during a future stay. Once again, believe that I am sincerely sorry that you did not stay there that you would have liked it. King regards, Paul-Edouard WAQUET GM Ibis Dunkerque Centre

« Good value in Dunkirk »

We have been visiting Dunkirk a couple of times a year for many years. We always receive a warm welcome and are given the same room. In the city centre this friendly hotel ticks all the boxes. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, a home from home.

« Clean but on a very noisy street »

Room is fine, breakfast was chaos with the number of people and food selection. Only one coffee machine!

« Perfect for our requirements »

Reception/Bar staff extremely helpful and courteous. Buffet breakfast was far better than expected. Nice idea to offer paper bag after breakfast for fruit.

« Comfortables beds. Linen clean. Smell of cabbage. »

This is a perfectly adequate place to spend a night, but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic weekend away. The hotel is functional, and would be fine for a business trip. The beds are comfortable and have very fresh and clean linen. The bathroom was spotless and had a good shower. The hotel is frequented by many people who are just passing through, so it isn't a place to relax and wind down. Whilst the rooms are modern, the corridors are fading a little and smell of cabbage and smoke. All-in-all, a satisfactory place to stay as a business traveller or someone passing through, but I wouldn't come on holiday here.
