Due to changes in my schedule and the Rio Rock Concert week i had to leave after 2 nights, unfortunately the first room had a very noisy air conditioner fan and a very squirty basin tap. My change to the next room was marginally better, slightly noisy fan but a normal water supply to the basin. This is a very nice hotel but I'm afraid the maintenance may be starting to need closer attention.

The hotel is good, although the a la carte service can be very slow. The dinner buffet is very good as well as the breakfast. However the staff needs more training in order to prepare omelets and tapiocas more quickly.

Very nice hotel. Good sized rooms. Good facilities. Pity there is no swimming pool. I had some problems in my room - desk lamp not working and bar fridge not cooling. It took two days to replace the light bulb but the lamp still did not work. The problems were never fixed. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was very nice and is good value.

Very expensive for the quality that a received. Bad Smell, old furniture, air conditioning noisy, and dirty sheets. I will never return in this hotel. Thats sad a Brand like Accor offers in a big city a poor quality hotel !

AC not working, bad TV signal and worst breakfast

I've checked in a room where air conditioner was not working. When I asked to fix the issue, maintenance people said me that they were aware of the issue since the morning of that day, but nothing was done, so they moved to another room that without new keys. I called front desk but they were busy and was not possible to send someone with new keys - I had to go to front desk to get new keys at 11pm. Also, on both rooms, the signal of TV channels were terrible. Next day, I went to breakfast and had my worst experience ever - food was old, cold and when I asked for "crepioca", it took 30 minutes to be served - but they changed order with another guest and didn't serve my original order.

at my first morning I woke up with a bad smell of cigar in my room. i realized the smoke came from inside the room next to mine. I then contacted the reception desk and they quickly moved me to another room where I had no further issue. my second night was perfect. by the other hand I am still worried that someone is smoking inside a room even though it's strictly forbidden. I'd like to know if any action was taken against the offender and what measures are been taken to prevent this from happening again.

gym needs maintenance

I stay in Novotel Santos Dumont at least 20 days per year. I usually enjoy staying in this hotel, however I noticed that gym treadmills need maintenance. Two weeks ago, the center treadmill was not working, only two were working. This causes a queue during rush hours. Now, there were only one treadmill working (the right one). I am very worried because there are basically three main drivers for me in a hotel for business trips: bed comfort, quality of internet and quality of gym. If your gym is not being maintained properly, it will make me look for other options, something I didn´t wanted to do. Other comment: As a gold member, only once this year I got a welcome treat at my room (some candies and a letter with my name). But it never happened again. I understand that, since I am booking through my company´s travel agency, sometimes you do not have my membership status. But I would like to continue receiving those treats once I arrive and identify myself.

Hi there! My husband and I stayed one night and the Novotel in Rio de Janeiro, Centro (next to the US Embassy). We ordered 2 plates of grilled chicken with rice, beans and salad. 5 minutes later, we received a call saying the beans soured, so I asked them to replace one plate with vegetable and the other one with fries. I’m conclusion, the food came wrong and it was terrible. The chicken was dried (seemed to be fried earlier and they just warmed it up. It was cold inside) since we were starving we ended up sharing one plate and returning the other one. After eating part of the food I went to use the bathroom, once I lifted the toilet seat, it was all dirty. Disgusting! We would never go back. (I have pics in case needed). Thank you!
