Pros:- clean and tidy English preferable reception near to beach good for few days of stay cons:- Breakfast is average Small rooms restriction for friends to come over parking is very costly conclusion:- overall stay was good but preferable only for few days.

The lift was not working with the room card (it was disabled) - that could be posed as a safety issue in cities like Rio. The breakfast was not ready at the announced time (6h30). I went there at 6h35 and the staff was still working on the buffet. I had to wait for the eggs, marmelade, honey, salt, cereal, etc. The bread was cold (the machine was not working) and there was just one coffee machine available (the other was out of order). The staff could have told me about the delay so I would decide before not to take the breakfast at the hotel. The delay influenced my scheduled agenda in Rio.

This hotel is near a subway station and close to Copacabana beach "Posto 2". The rooms are clean and the size is good for two people. The only drawback were the towels, which looked a little old, but not unclean.

We paid a lot of money for our stay, only one lift was working in a building with 10 floors which meant that we had to wait approx 10mins every time we needed to use it. There was an infestation of small flies in the bathroom and when we left dirty towels to be replaced on the floor, they were placed back on the handrail and the staff were relucatant to help. Lastly we ordered tickets to the sambradome to be delivered at the hotel. We called in advance to check that they had arrived on the Tuesday. A member of staff confirmed that they were and told us to ask at reception upon arrival. When we arrived, the lady at reception told us that she couldn’t find any tickets and told us that she would keep looking. Only after we insisted and waited around 20mins at reception for the supervisor did she finally come down and explain that the tickets had been found.

Although the staff was really friendly, this IBIS Copacabana was one of the worst in which I have stayed. It should be an IBIS budget and not an IBIS. At first, there was a mosquito (killed by the prior guest perhaps) on the wall that remained there during all my stay. So about the cleanliness really below the expectations. I had a blanket on my bed but unfortunately the cleaning lady has never made the bed correctly so that I found it everywhere folded but as a blanket. Besides that the television was working with several problems and despite of my complaint to the staff it was never solved. At last but not least the internet was so bad that I could not make any internet calls from the bedroom. Either I have to sit on the bathroom or stay at the door. I stayed seven days in the hotel and the issue was never solved.

Proximity with metro train station and english language understanding staff are the two main reason to stay in this hotel. However there is some scope of improvement in 1. House keeping (Some times, towel which are not kept on the stand which is indicative of change request are not changed. disposable glass are not kept regularly.) 2. Internet experience 3. Breakfast options for vegetarians. I have been frequently staying in this hotel since year 2015. Till now in total almost 10months. I can notice the addition of Oats. This can be prepared daily for a vegetarian like me. 4. Per night charge should be inclusive of complementary breakfast also.

« Good but missing the basic item »

There should be at least two bars of soap in the bathroom. One for hand washing and one for the shower. It's very inconvenient to only have one bar of soap and it was annoying having to move the location of the soap every time. Other than that the room was great.
