Tried to take shower in the evening after being out all day on the beach only to find out there was no hot water to bath with. Called the front desk three different times to to speak to hotel staff and no one would answer the phone. I had to put my cloths back on go down stairs and when I arrived found both men laughing and playing on there cell phones . Asked them what was going on and one man said problem with water and didn't know when we would have hot water. The hotel operates with a fresh water A/C chilling system for the rooms A/C and the pumps are programmed to turn off at nite once this is done after awhile the rooms will not cool . Overall experience very poor never again will I say at this hotel. Also the shower had black mold in the corners .they charge 25 reais for breakfast

Almost OK. Just two things: 1) I couldn't find any brochure describing check out time and time for breakfast. 2)Shower head is fixed and location is center. Very inconvenient.Flexible connection is better. If fixed, it is preferable to locate in one side.

« Less than expected for Ibis »

Room was ok, but the shower was really bad, the water temperature kept oscilating from really hot to cold. Nobody cleaned our room in the 2 nights we spent at the hotel. Kitchen closed before the advertised time, so when I tried to have dinner there, I had to go outside (with two kids, in the middle of the night). I have always had a pleasant experience at Ibis, but not this time. It wasn´t horrible, just below average.

I went to Rio to visit my family and I needed a reasonably priced hotel to stay. I found Ibis on booking.com and I based my decision on the reviews I read and I'm very satisfied. Because I'm Brazilian, speak the language and very familiar with the city, my opinion is really based on the location and functionality of the hotel and not on a number of amenities. Everything in the room worked perfectly: the shower, the TV, Wi-Fi signal in the room was very good, the safe so I could keep my valuables there, elevator, the breakfast options including the tapioca and the friendliness of the staff was very nice. The distance to the beach and the subway station was also a plus with a number of convenience stores nearby: restaurants, souvenirs shops, banks, transportation, you name it!
