The hotel was fine. We've been before. On this occasion though the children's bed was not ready when we got there and we waited quite a long time for it to be done. The staff were very friendly and polite and the lady that came to do the bed was clearly rushed off her feet. The receptionist even offered to make the beds up for us. Also for some reason they put a double quilt in a single cover to go over the two children.

Booking the room was great, booking staff could not do enough for me. The welcome was warm and friendly. Birthday Balloons, banners and card left in room. The room was amazing and very comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and plenty of it. I would be sure to come back to the Novotel Liverpool Centre, one of my best hotel experiences ever!

This is the third time we have stayed at the hotel. We come to Liverpool at least once a year for leisure purposes and stay here mainly because it has a pool for our kids. The pool was freezing. So cold that my wife couldn't stay in it and sat out the first day of our 3 day stay. I and my two kids shivered through half an hour in the pool but it was really uncomfortable. We complained first day and were told it would be looked at. The next day we went to the pool and it was freezing. My wife refused to go in. My 2 year old tried it but had to get out as she was crying with the cold. Myself and my other daughter aged 9 braved it for 10 minutes then got out. We complained again and were greeted with 'oh'. That was it. I know other people complained. I spoke to other people who also agreed it was freezing and refused to swim in it. Needless to say we didn't bother going in the final day as neither of my kids (who love swimming) wanted too. Another on-going problem at this hotel is the breakfast queues. We expereienced this last year so decided not to book breakfast this year and were glad we didn't. As you come out of the lift you walk into a disgruntled queue of people queuing right up to the door. This happened everyday and also last year. Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Another problem was that I online checked-in. I was told that my room info was not there so I would have to queue up. Pointless. Another problem was that the automatic entrance doors weren't working properly which is a struggle with bags and kids. So overall disappointed. We had the feeling of being unvalued this time and may as well have stayed at the Premier Inn a few doors down.

« Great overall...but with some glitches »

Our stay for five people in two rooms was good overall; comfy beds, clean rooms, working TV &c but there were some glitches. The pool was not working on the day we arrived, which was a shame as we had three children. We were offered free breakfast as compensation although we had to remind the staff of that the next morning. The breakfast room ran out of plates and water The plug in the bath need to be manually removed each time using fingernails as the lever did not work. The cover of the airvent in the loo had only two out of four pins needed to hold it in place Room cards had to be repeatedly updates to gain access A locker in the gym changing room seized up and it took 20-30 minutes and three visits by staff to lever it open while the user had to wait in their towel. This feedback is sent not as criticism or complaint but to help you iron out of the glitches

We arrived on New Years Day to the friendly and caring welcome of the lovely Jade on reception, who is always chatty and takes an interest in our stay. We cannot fault the rest of our 4 night stay.....it was perfection, as always. Thank you Jade and Novotel Liverpool.

« Let down by housekeeping »

Lovely hotel in a good location but it was let down by housekeeping. When I arrived there was a sweet paper on floor and safe was locked. Next day the room was not serviced at all. The day after, the bed was made but tea/coffee was not replaced and overflowing bins were not emptied. Also I had requested a room with a bath but was not given one and had to move. The housing on the wall mounted tv rattled during the night every time another rooms door slammed.

« Another great stay »

Second time we've made our annual pilgrimage to our former home city and the Novotel Liverpool is a perfect base. Very friendly staff, nice breakfast, good facilities (pool is a bonus) and a great location, now that area has been completely redeveloped.

Great location. Nice bar and good range of food on the menu. Daughter loved the swimming pool. Beds super comfy and excellent customer service. Will deffo stay here again. We left a shopping bag in reception when we checked out. This was posted out to us and arrived the next day, free of charge. Lovely staff.

I was really upset for a number of reasons with your accommodation and service. I understand it was a busy period and I am forgiving to an extent but it just seemed understaffed, un-clean and lacking common service unfortunately . Front outside bins were over flowing and on departure the revolving front entrance was broke with not much of an alternative to just follow other guests and manually push which was embarrassing and could of caused injury. First impressions were poor and having already visited the hotel I was didsspointed . My room wasn't clean and I should have complained but didn't have time due to long check in lines and my partner arriving . There was crumbs in the drawer, rubbish behind bin, ink stained on the leather chair etc. That was without even looking as I was short for time . The light switches were confusing as it seemed a main one had to be on, to keep others on etc. Maybe just me that one ? The hairdryer didn't work after checking every switch? The best part was receiving a late checkout for free, or that's what I thought I'd heard as the phone was so quiet I had to phone twice and shout. I planned to have drinks in the restaurant and eat but it was understaffed , not the employees fault but I was so upset after waiting 15 minutes for a drink and seeing the people already waiting I left. The reason I came to the hotel was because of the lovely bar and a great young manager the week before but it was awful, as much as the guys did try. I did receive glasses to take to my room which I'm grateful for but would rather of spent the night in the hotel as planned .

I have stayed at the Novatel Liverpool on many occasions. May I suggest that they put more staff on in the bar during busy times I.E. one designated person who only makes cocktails and one/two or 3 who serves as when it gets busy in big groups it can take up tp 20 minutes to get served with members of the public non residents getting priority Thank you

Great location, very poor service at breakfast, cueing for 20 mins to get into breakfast not because tables were not available, not enough staff to clear the tables. Also we booked the hotel for the pool, sauna and gym which for the majority of our stay were not working which was very disappointing.

« Very sad stay again »

Very disapointed stay again. As a gold member in accor we expekt more.Got a mail some days before arrival and wrote early check in. When we arrive 12 we still had to wait 3 hours and when we got the room it was up grated but i had booked a twin room and dont want king bed.It was like it was my fault.... The first 3 days there was nobody into the room even i put out the sign please make up room. The 4 day when i asked if they could change the towel they took all the towels....the same the next day. Tried for more than a week to get them to fix the telefon in the room so i dont had to go to the resepsion every time. When they come to fix it, it wasnt even connected...and hasnt been since they fix the room the guy said..shame. Under the bed it was also very dirty....My wife also tried to get another pillow when she was sick but nothing happened before i 3 hours later when i again again walked to the resepstion. ( i am a catering supervisor at an oil rigg taking care of the food and cleaning) The people working in the reseption just says yes but nothing happenings.. I can garanti you we will never stay at novotel Liverpool again, last time 2 years ago it was also a mess but thought this time it should be better. Should have a look at other accor hotels i liverpool like addagio and pullman. I thought when you book 2 weeks stay the hotel takes care of you.

I've stayed in this hotel at least half a dozen times in the last year, twice over the Christmas period. As a couple, the hotel is great, but I do feel that when you add children to the room the hotel does not feel like a 4*. The pull out beds are uncomfortable, and the crockery in the room is never updated to 4 ! The mattress on the sofa bed in room 102 was stained and the bed was not made up. Apart from that the hotel is in a convenient location, and the bar area is relaxed.

Bedrooms not clean, pool was 2 degrees below normal, steam room out of order, very disappointing This was a family holiday and it was spoilt as we were not able to enjoy the pool due to it being so cold! I will look for another hotel next year as my son has sever asthma and the pool was unacceptable and the bedrooms were not cleaned to a comfortable standard
