Absolutely blown away with the quality of service I received on my stay. The staff could not have been nicer, and the quality of assistance I received from Alexandra on my first nights stay was 10/10. A big 'Thank you!' to all of the staff. I will definitely stay with Ibis again.

On arrival the reception staff were friendly and helpful upon check-in. Unfortunately that’s where the positive things end. After dropping our bags off quickly in or room at 3pm, we went out into town and returned at 6pm. We found that we had been allocated a disabled room (which I dislike as it reminds me of a hospital), without prior asking if this would be acceptable. The shower room was big, but smelled bad of damp and had small damp marks on the celling. The room itself was incredibly sparse and reminded me what it must be like to be in a prison cell. (At least a hot breakfast would be included in their stay!) No tea or coffee making facilities and only a small table and chair. We then discovered that we only had one pillow each, we went down to reception to request another 2 pillows, the female receptionist (who was not on reception when we arrived at the hotel) almost threw them at me, I then mentioned about the room and the damp in the shower room. The response I got left us both shocked. “You only paid £31.25 and its £50 to stay here tonight now, what do you expect?” and then proceed to laugh in my face. The cost of the room is irrelevant as I have secured many bookings at the considerably more prestige Premier Inn for £29.50. When we asked to speak to the manager she told us that the manager would be back in the morning. The quality of sleep was bad as we were kept awake by a constant humming form something mechanical somewhere in the hotel. The next morning we spoke to the Team Leader on reception (Manager still not available), who was very shocked at what we had to tell him and took the matter very serious. The nice receptionist who originally checked us in was also on duty, and she was most sympathetic about our bad stay. I was told that the matter would be investigated and we would be issued a full refund for our stay. I’m pleased to say that this was forthcoming within a few days. I have used the Ibis (red logo) and Ibis Styles all over the UK and in Germany & Spain and had no issues; it was a mistake to try the Ibis Budget and won’t be making that mistake in the future.

I was down for a funeral,at nine o clock on the first night I was woken up by what sounded like someone trying to get into my room,looked throughspy hole couldn’t see anyone so went back to bed,later heard the same noises again,when I opened the door to challenge the person it was a member of staff fiddling with the lock. I made two representations to the desk but nothing solved.

Not a standard hotel. Beddings were dirty. Pillow cases were yellow and pillows were squished. Strange smell from room. It definitely needs a refurnishment.

The first room I was allocated was a disabled twin room with a filthy bathroom. After complaining, I was reallocated a double room with a bunk bed which was fine. Staff were ok, nothing particularly noteworthy. Parking was convenient.

« Does what is says on the tin »

Room was a good size and clean. Bed (twin) was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and functional although we didn't use the shower. My only complaint was on arrival we were asked where we were parked, which was right outside the front of the hotel. We were told to check if the bay was marked 'hotel' , it wasn't so we were told to park in the overflow carpark at B&Q opposite. Which involved a short drive around the one way system and short walk back. However upon opening our window blind in the morning we discovered the hotel car park extended alongside the hotel which we were not informed about. Save yourself a walk and ask reception staff.
