Room was a good size, tea coffee and one pack of biscuits, being a twin room perhaps two packs would be better. Location good. Car park was a bit of a nightmare, busy but very tight spaces

« Great stay shame about the parking »

Enjoyed the stay. Overall the hotel was great, rooms were wonderful. The only down side was that it said there was parking however had to pay for which I feel should have been stated before arrival also the lack of parking led to one of the tests from our group having to park away from the hotel and not only pay more but then walk to the hotel.

Nice stylish hotel, not far from the town centre. Breakfast was included, would recommend. Only downfall would be that we didn't sleep very well, the pillows were a little too hard. But overall was a good stay.

« Reliable base in York »

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel. As before the reception staff were welcoming and friendly, breakfast had a good choice of items. This time we had a bigger family room, but with hindsight I did not like it as much as the standard room: that family room overlooks the air vents so not a great view (whereas smaller rooms at the back overlook trees and a small car park) and it is designed to be a communicating room with the one next door, meaning that there is only a thin door between this room and the next. Unfortunately in the next room there was a lady who came back late at night and had a fairly loud telephone conversation just outside that communicating door, which did not feel very private (for me or for her). The carpet had stains on it. But it is still good value and within walking distance of York, just not as impressive as our first stay because of the facilities.

« Noisy Nights »

Check-in was easy. The girl behind the desk was very friendly. Got into our room which was basic, but what you would expect for the price-point of the hotel. Beds were comfy enough. The walls were paper thin which meant we could not only hear the conversations of our neighbours but also what they were doing every time they went to the bathroom. As next-door had gone out that evening we ended up being woken up by them in the night. There was an odd brown smudge on the bathroom wall that we had assumed was paint or similar (the communal areas of the hotel were in the process of being re-painted during our stay), but on closer inspection they were smudges of foundation and makeup from the room's previous occupants that had not been wiped off the wall. We had been shopping the first afternoon that we had been in York and had put the bags underneath the desk in the room so that they were out of the way for housekeeping to come into the room. However, they took the bag assuming it was rubbish (it was clearly full of new clothes and souvenirs) but luckily we were able to retrieve it before it was thrown away.

Stay very good. Staff great and was surprised to find a bag with clean towels, etc. on the door on the morning my room wasn't cleaned (due to my do not disturb sign). Hadn't experienced this before in any other similar hotel, ie. Travelodge or Premier Inn. Would stay again.

« It was ok despite a few problems with the room itself. »

The hotel is in a prime location for York City Centre, Unfortunately the room and rooms around ours spoilt it for my wife and I. Firstly the floors squeaked whilst walking on them, not only ours but the I believe the rooms either side, so when quests were walking a round the room during the day or the night the noise was in incessant, Secondly the door into the bathroom was so tight it had to be yanked open again making a loud noise, During the day was manageable but if the bathroom was needed during the night what with the creaking floor boards and this door the other person was always Woking up, Thirdly the fan in the bathroom does not work so when getting showered the bathroom just steamed up and when the bathroom door got opened the room itself got steamed up. Last but not least, whilst on our visit to the Ibis the hotel itself was getting a spruce up, I am not against this but we should of been pre-warned about this, like the electrician who was repairing a stair light between the ground floor and 2 who left all of his tools lying around in the corner, this wasn't s problem for us but it could of been with a parent and a young child.

« Tired hotel, dirty room, disinterested staff! »

No parking spaces on arrival after a 3 hour drive, tired, drab room, hairs on the toilet and in the bath, flaking paint on bathroom ceiling, dirty plastic cups in bathroom. Poor service from staff but breakfast was good. I'll stick to Premier Inn in future.

This was our second stay at York Ibis and as before we were extremely satisfied. The hotel is clean and well equiped in an attractive period building. It is only 5 minutes walk from the city centre and parking facilities at the hotel are good so that you can forget your car for the whole of your stay. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

The room felt basic. The kettle was playing up/ or there was a loose electrical connection. Bathroom grout and threshold areas didn’t let look well maintained. Corridor spaces looked tired. Dinner options and ambience of restaurant were uninviting. I had managed to park in the hotel car park & paid the £9 extra for it to find that I was blocked in, in the morning when I needed to be away to my meeeting, by a staff car and had to return to ask for it to be moved. This was not good. Breakfast was ok. I need to return to York every 2 week’s overnight for the next few months and was comparing Ibis to Premier Inn.
