Very helpful and friendly staff room was clean and tidy breakfast was good plenty to choose from only thing I found was that you could hear the people in the next room talking could do with a bit more soundproofing apart from that had a good stay.

The single bed in room 310 is built up of layers and de-laminated during the night. I had a sleepless night. I have used IBIS Sophie ans Accor in France and Mercure in Germany when accommodation is not built down to a price. A full cash refund will suffice no vouchers are acceptable.

Room was large and clean. Breakfast had a reasonable choice. Annoyed to have to pay £9 a day to park. Website says parking available, small print says there is a charge - nowhere does it say how much.

« Unsafe, noisy, uncomfortable and certainly not value for money! »

£125 for a room. What a joke! Awful. Firstly, our room (119) was dangerous. After a very long train journey we entered the room, and almost fell down five steep steps into the main part of the room - no warning whatsoever that these steps were there. Secondly, a bedside table was missing, and where it should have been, a sharp screw was sticking out. The lights were unpredictable; one above the mirror failed to work. We had a booking for a museum in the city, so did not have time to address these issues which should never have been present in the first place. Returning later, we were absolutely exhausted, and simply wanted to sleep. However, the hotel seems to think it acceptable to play very loud music late into the night. Hardly appropriate for a family hotel... I DID report the steps and the screw, but nothing was done. I was far too tired to argue, to be quite frank. The décor for a room, that cost so much, was poor, the room was not as clean as should be expected and the duvets were certainly not the cosy, wonderful items you prominently advertise; the duvets were flat, uncomfortable and lumpy. They should have been discarded years ago. The room had not received a thorough, deep clean in a VERY long time, so please do NOT try to excuse this with, “the housekeep was ill.” Utter nonsense - that room had not received a DEEP clean for quite a while. Add to this, the room had no air conditioning, was hot and smelled. We could not open the window. I booked the hotel to attend the University Open day with my daughter. Travelodge and Prenier In. were full. They are budget hotels, in the same category and expectations as Ibis. I have never stayed in a noisy, dirty, unsafe room at their hotels, with poor quality furnishings, decor or an unsafe room. Nor have I ever paid so much for a room at their hotels. Granted, the cost of rooms in the city, for budget hotels, increased at that time because of the Open Day. However, at Travelodge or Premier Inn, I have no doubt I would have had a quality room, with comfortable bedding, a safe experience and a quiet night’s sleep... I am deeply angry that I paid so much for so little. I will NEVER stay in an Ibis hotel again. Thank goodness for Trip Advisor, where I have left a similar review, for I am in no doubt my words will be dismissed and deleted. I believe the cost of the room, based on safety alone, should be refunded.

When booking we requested smiley face drawings to be left on our beds and were delighted to find out that our request had been completed. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nice too. The hotel was easy to walk to from the train station. If I am in york again I would definitely stay here a second time. :)

no problems at all we were on the ground floor - a walk in shower which we found excellent as I can be unsteady on my feet due to osteo arthritis in one ankle - all staff pleasant & helpful - even a quiet room at night

« room good size, parking poor »

Room was a good size for 3 people, but alarming to clearly hear people in next room. Parking was a joke ! Arrived at 14.00 on Friday ,paid £18 for 2 "days " parking to only find on return to hotel in the evening that no spaces available so parked on street for night. Next day similar problems with full car park so having waited for space ,decided to leave car and walk into city for evening out! Aircon not working

Hotel needs updating. Resteraunt was like a large canteen. Room clean but Tv very small compared to similar hotels we have stayed in. No hand towels in bathroom. Staff very excellent.

The location of this hotel is great, however the rooms are run down. The carpets look really thin and old. The walls were marked all over, bed linen stained, curtains stained, bathroom suite had seen better days. When the toilet above was flushed it made a loud noise in our bathroom. The fire alarm which flashes constantly was placed right above the bed which is annoying. Breakfast was wonderful, staff very friendly too! Shame the room let it down.

« Just what we where looking for »

The room was as expected. The chambermaid did a good job each day to keep the room clean and topped up with coffee. Choice at breakfast was very wide and good quality, my wife commented that the scrambled egg was even light and fluffy. The only let down was when you came into the dinning room it was difficult to find a clean table. Also the staff seemed indifferent to your comings and goings.
