Disappointed in this hotel. Always been happy with previous Ibis. This was a tired and neglected hotel. Wouldn’t have chosen it if seen it beforehand. Staff though very friendly and helpful. Good location especially for rail museum which was our main reason for the visit. Car parking expensive and although we paid up front couldn’t be guaranteed a place if we moved the car!!!!this was bad.

We stayed in the Ibis for 8 nights,our room was perfect for us, it felt like a home from home. The room was perfectly clean and well laid out.The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother.The breakfast was brilliant, so much choice !! We will be back !!

« the hotel met our needs very well indeed. »

Your staff were all easy, constructive & pleasant to deal with. The bed was comfortable, although there were a few areas where decor, finish, etc. in the bedroom/bathroom needed to be tidied up. The buffet breakfast was good, too, hotter and fresher than we had been offered in a Holiday Inn (another city) in previous days. In summary, we'd come again.

On arrival the hotel looked aesthetically pleasing but once we booked in we were told that our room is a ground floor accessible room. I did book a twin room though. I thought it couldn't be too bad so we took the room key. Once in our room we were very dissatisfied. Our toilet door did not shut properly, the lighting was dim and poor, the carpet was dusty/had cobwebs on it in the corners of the room. We had no other option but to close the curtains for privacy as we could see people walking past and we could also hear the person in the room above us walking around. The shower was not great. It did not reach a warm temperature and when it did go warm it quickly went cold again and it was not powerful. It felt like I was being dripped on. All in all, I would not chose to stay here again.

« Good room design, some cleaning & maintenance issues. »

We were very pleased with the room layout & useful features (& luckily, the view & relatively peaceful position - great rooftops view over York to the Minster). There were however some issues with a lack of cleaning & maintenance for this room. Initially we discovered dirty towels, used, unwashed cups, & the toilet & shower had not been cleaned. The bedroom floor had dried mud in small patches under the beds & the desk. Reception staff were helpful & friendly & remedied the towels & cups straight away. We cleaned the loo & shower ourselves before we could use them. As our visit went on we realised the extractor fan for this room's ensuite did not work, & the plug did not stay down in the sink (disconnected cable.) We just put up with these inconveniences as it was a little late to call staff. Second night we thought we would use the extra pillows provided, only to discover on removing them from their storage bags that one was covered in stains sprayed across the surface. Grim. Positives are that the hotel provides inclusive unlimited wifi access - very useful - & details such as shower gel (apparently eco friendly) & a hairdryer in the room. These few extras made the difference between us choosing this hotel rather than similar nearby competitors. The cleaning & maintenance issues leave us unsure about booking again, though our overall experience was more inconvenient than unpleasant.

Reception staff were great. The only problem was other guests playing loud music at half 4 in the morning, and upon waking in the morning I found crumbs under the sheet in my bed!

« Well located, clean hotel »

This is a nice hotel in York. It is clean and well located just outside York city walls. All the sights are within a short walk. The hotel only has a few car parking places that it charges for but there is a road near the racecourse where you can park for free and walk in (about 20 minutes). The staff were friendly and helpful.

it was adequate for somewhere to sleep at n ightnot much more.room was very noisey due to inter connecting door with room next door.could hear every word crystal clear.when we mentioned it at check the man told us it had been complained about before?housekeeping poor had no towels 2nd day and i had a small nosebleed and got a bit of blood on my bedsheet on 1st day but sheets werent changed at all during our 3 night stay. handy hotel to explore york from.

« Poor service, run down hotel »

Staff we distracted with personal phone calls, chatting etc. Every floor board was noisy. Rooms needed good makeover. When I booked the ibis i thought I was booking a minimum standard and this hotel came below my expectation.
