the breakfast was good, one receptionist was helpful and there the good bits ended. the shower was broken, a shelf in the shower was on the floor when i arrived, the corridor ceiling was exposed to the electrics, the room was unserviced between the two nights, there was unwashed laundry in the lift

I work in York twice a year -- and I always stay at the IBIS -- key reasons: - location (5mn walk from train station) - free wifi - staff always very friendly - so easy to order a taxi in the morning

A good experience. I did have an issue with the breakfast though. The hot breakfast food was laid out on the counter under heat lamps. The member of staff/chef came out and with a tongs moved the pork sausages about in their tray, then he poked at the bacon - all fine. He then however, using the same now smeared with bacon fat tongs, proceeded to shuffle the hash browns. As a vegetarian diner watching this was rather alarming. Please inform the chef who worked on the morning of Tuesday 13th August, that this behaviour is simply wrong. A cooked vegetarian breakfast of hashbrowns, mushrooms, baked beans and scrambled eggs is effectively ruined by introducing bacon fat! Watch the tongs Mr Chef!

I booked a family room (double bed and sofa) asvitvwas the same price as a standard double. The room allocated was unfortunately not a family room, which was disappointing, but was nonetheless comfortable and met our needs.

After checking in and going to our room we found a tiny room with the bed against the wall, a tiny bathroom with child sized toilet and soap dispenser on the floor of the shower. After going down to reception to say we were not happy we were given another room which appeared good sized. The windows couldn’t be opened so a small fan was the only way to cool the room in the hot weather. The bathroom door had no lock mechanism so one of us had to prop a chair up against it to allow for some privacy. The kettle did not work, and the fire door next to the room had no self close so it kept banging every time someone went through it. Breakfast was poor, only a couple of slices of bread available, the fruit salad was fermented, only one pot of vanilla yogurt, the scrambled eggs were dry and hard, We stayed her a couple of years ago and it as fine, think this will be the last time though.

Rooms were clean and functional, although one smelt like a toilet macerator. You could hear next door’s tv through the walls. Receptionist Emma when we arrived was disinterested and charmless, when we left, a very nice receptionist helped us with our left luggage.

Staff were friendly and helpful but room was a little expensive for the basic facilities. Disappointed that there were not enough towels but appreciated that the staff tried their best to help us as the towels had not been delivered.

Check in was quick and easy, the receptionist was lovely! The 3rd floor rooms were a complete maze and it took us ages to find our room which was down a set of stairs off the main corridor? It should have been signposted!! The room was quite small and we found a few hairs over the place but couldn’t find a phone to report this to reception. The bathroom was very small but big enough for a 1 night stay, although the drains stunk when the sink was used... The bed had a low quality mattress and my side had a big dip in it so I felt very low compared to my partner. Apart from these things it was a nice stay and the amenities are what would be expected in a 2*. If you’re looking for a place to stop off and not wanting to pay too much then this would be a good place for you! If you’re looking for more of a luxury hotel I would look elsewhere but overall we were alright with what was provided.

Quick check in. Friendly helpful staff. Carpeting in rooms threadbare. Probabily the lowest standard of ibus hotels I've been too. Clean. Comfortable beds. Well located and had parking. Few bays and at a cost.

Good price for York. Close to Station too. Bed comfy and shower nice too. No plug in sink which I reported , but was told there was nothing that could be done. Also empty soap/shampoo holder in shower. Breakfast excellent.
