« Disappointing Sofitel experience »

As a frequent Accor member the Sofitel brand is usually a pleasure. Not so at Sofitel Manila. A loud outdoor event disturbed any rest until midnight, despite earplugs! Staff weren't interested in remeding the situation, apart from offering earplugs. Disappointing experience.

We were booked to stay for 3D/2N over the weekend to celebrate my Mother's birthday. Upon check-in, we noticed that there were a lot of guests in the lobby area. It seemed that the property was fully booked. We headed straight for the accorplus check-in area and we were seated by one of the staff in filipiniana. We waited for 30mins and noticed that someone that arrived later than us was being processed already and was confused why we were being ignored. We raised that we arrived before the subject pax and that's when they took my accorplus card and ID. We were processed by Ms. Dhay Angeles and I felt she was stressed but doing her best to please all the guests pending for processing. Perhaps under heavy pressure given the volume of arrivals and departures, we understand their situation and we hope they were able to get through that day without any problems. As we were advised our room was ready, we were delighted to find out we were placed on the club level! Sofitel is full of surprises! Upon entering the room, my mother really loved the view overlooking the poolside area and the Manila skyline. Moments after arrival a member of housekeeping delivered some welcoming fruits and sparkling water for the club level. Afterwards, two members of the guest experience division arrived to deliver flowers and wished my mother a happy birthday. We went on to have dinner at Le Bar during our first night and everything was up to expectations. The music was perfect for a lovely evening. Later on during the night after having dinner, we went for the sauna and cold pool at SoFit. Always meeting expectations, what we like about this facility is the experience is always consistent as everything is well maintained. Even if it's a bit smaller than Marriott's and Shangri-La's, the guest experience is always superior at Sofitel. Everything is clean all the time. On our second night, for the first time we had a negative experience in the property. We wanted to dine at Snaps but upon entering my mother turning 60 couldn't take the smoke so I asked the person at the counter if it was possible to take the food out as we would prefer to have our dinner outside Snaps. We were advised that per Accorplus policy, customers had to dine in first before we could take out food. Then I explain I didn't want to endanger my mother's health and she replies "Kakainin niyo po muna" in a condescending tone. To my disgust I just told her that we'll just dine at Le Bar and left. I was informed by the Le Bar staff that I was talking to the supervisor at the time by the name of Sheena. We suspect there was discrimination because we are local nationals. This was the only instance we were made to feel this way, even incomparable to what we experience from Quick Service Restaurants. Of course, the breakfasts at Spiral is still one of the top culinary experiences one could experience throughout the globe. Even comparing it with buffets in Hotels I've been to in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Bangkok or Singapore, this will always be my favorite. The main highlight of our stay was during our last day. The club level manager, Ms. Gladys, together with another hotel staff who shared the same birthdate as my mother arrived and delivered a sincere and personal birthday greeting alongside beautiful flowers and a hefty chocolate mousse cake. We were amazed by the level of personal touch. This level of guest interaction is what keeps us coming back to this property. Sofitel sincerely cares about each guest's experience 24/7 we are on your property. We experienced a smooth checkout with minimal waiting time. Afterwards I was guided to the business center to renew my Accorplus membership. I had a wonderful chat with Ms. Chona, exchanging stories after discussing the changes in the terms and conditions. Even up to this last moment in the property, I could still feel the personal touch each staff contributes to the overall guest experience. To mention the reason why we started coming and kept on coming back to Sofitel, we'd like to thank Ms. Anne Cruz for facilitating our stay at the property. Overall, despite some challenges we are still able to say we had a Magnifique experience. This continuous to be our favorite property in the Philippines. We will definitely keep on coming back to Sofitel.

Overall stayed was great . We had our dinner buffet at your restaurant . Great food selection as always. But I was just disppointed with your coffee. It tasted like it was burned/overcooked (don’t know the exact term). I ordered another round and still tasted the same. I ordered a lattè again but the waiter gave me a cappucino so i gave it back. The waiter looked irritated. This is just a small thing but it really makes a difference. Thank you

Ambience are good Restaurants are good Location is good, however if your room is not facing the Garden of the hotel, there is a lot of noice, which last up to late in the evening, frustrating if you want to have an early sleep. Clenaing of rooms is somewhat sloppy, i.e. had one of the towels from the gym laying on my table throughout the stay, and it was left there untouched. Have seen Sofitel over the last many years and used to be impressed, i'm not any longer, but that doesn not mean that i will not stay there again

It was a pleasant experience. We were greeted by very hospitable and polite personnels. The newly renovated room is clean and elegant with a nice view of the pool and the sea. The Club Millésime offers a lovely place for hanging around, perfect for those who just want to stay inside the hotel. The Club offers a select set of food and refreshments while the restaurant buffet offers a wide array of delightful cuisine. The hotel and its service is everything we expected from a five star hotel.

« Generally I was quite pleased »

I had a fairly good experience. The staff are fantastic and very helpfully. The food is very good and the amenities are what one would expect from a hotel in this category. The main issue was the intense humidity in the room. Everything felt wet especially the bed and pillows so this was not a very comfortable area to be in for lengthy period. Also, the bathroom could use an upgrade as the shower doors were not containing the water and after each shower the floor required mopping. All in all, the stay was enjoyable.
