« very relax »

A very relax stay, very friendly staff, rooms are very clean. The only problem was, there was no lift for people carrying big luggage. Good location, easy for us to go around the city The hotel garden was also very attractive, people like to stay there after dinner enjoying a couple of drinks.

Dear Cherry329, Thank you for your review and your positive comments. Indeed, with only having the one upstairs floor we do not have a lift but our staff are always available to help you with your luggage if required. We are pleased you enjoyed our garden setting and overall location. Thank you

« Quick and easy stop in Dunedin »

Check in and out was faultless. A gentleman at the reception was really nice and kind. The hotel is located at North Dunedin but you can walk to the city centre that'd take about 20-25 mins.We love Dunedin. It's a little gem in south island you should visit.

« Great Hotel & staff »

Great hotel and staff we had a 2 night stay at this hotel, on arrival we were allocated a room on level 2 next to the highway and as this was our last hotel stop and being light sleepers were asked for a room in the middle of the complex and were accomodated, the room was very neat and exceptionally clean with plenty of information about the hotel and area. We had 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner during our stay and all were very good, our waiter Debbie was very informative and gave us directions to a great little trip around Dunedin it was a very scenic trip, All up a great hotel to stay at .

« Great place for our visit. »

Service was great with a tasty morsel for brekky. Ideal location for our planned gathering. Amenities were great with easy access for first time visitors to Dunedin. Walking around the Octagon was easy.

« Not Mercure Standards »

I stayed at the Mercure Dunedin for only one night .It was a disappointing experience. The property should be rebranded as an Ibis Budget. The property is an aging two level structure with no elevators. Our room s were on the second floor. At checki-in I was given room keys and pointed in the general direction of our rooms. No help was offered or available. for getting baggage upstairs- very unusual for Mercure. The rooms were clean, but uncomfortably warm and stuffy. There is no fan or airconditioning. The window opened to a noisy street. At 9.30pm I inquired at reception why there was no hot water in my room. The response was " oh, did you want to shower tonight?". My response was more polite than this Duty Manager deserved. The hot water system had broken down and would not be available till morning. No compensation of any kind was offered. As an Accor Plus Member I am disgusted and will not be renewing my membership.Forget brand loyalties and research elsewhere in Dunedin.

Dear 557Scott, We are sorry to hear that you experienced a less than desired stay with us recently. Indeed you are correct our property does not have a lift for the single flight of stairs to reach the 2nd floor and as such, a standard part of our check in procedure is to enquire if guests would like assistance with their luggage. Whilst I find this completely at odds with our standard operating procedures, I most certainly apologise if this was not offered to you on this occasion. I can see from your room allocation and from the comment card that you filled in upon departure that you were in fact allocated two Garden facing rooms that do not have windows opening directly out onto a street, but in fact over look our gardens towards the north. I can confirm that we do not have air conditioning as such Fans are available on request from reception should one be required, as are numerous other amenities that may or may not be required from time to time through different guest's needs. In regards to the Hot water issue, yes we did suffer a failure at 9.06pm on the Saturday night of your stay with on one of our gas hot water heating systems. A service call was made and the issue was rectified by 11.25pm that evening with hot water restored at that time. In light of the timing of the event and the fact that the issue did not affect all rooms we made a decision to not call rooms and advise of the outage, however should guests enquire during the outage and require Hot Water a room move was to be made available, hence the question from the Duty Manager to your call. We are obviously disappointed to hear that you will not be renewing your Accor membership over this situation but thank you for your past patronage of Accor's products

« peaceful in lovely location if sun shining!! »

You need a car or taxi to get to CBD. There a few shops and restaurants within walking distance but the best variety of eating places are all in town. The big plus is you are within walking distance of the Botanical Gardens which is a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon

Good Morning Sandstar2018 from another Dunner Stunner this morning. Thank you for your review, it is much appreciated. Indeed you can grab a cab or an uber, or even catch a bus down George Street. For perspective regarding our location the walk to Meridian Mall is a flat 1800 metres in total from the hotel and takes less than 25minutes, according to Google Maps. If you do take the walk I'd recommend stopping in at Governor's Café opposite Know Church and grab a lovely coffee ! Cheers

« Best in Dunedin »

I'm a regular traveller to Dunedin and always choose the Mercure Leisure Lodge for my accommodation. Apart from the very convenient location, comfortable rooms and excellent dining facilities, the staff really go out of their way to make me feel at home. Highly recommended.

« A great spot to stay in Dunedin »

A beautiful warm place to stay on a cool misty evening. After a drive down from Christchurch the Mercure Leisure Lodge was a very welcoming place to stay. The staff were wonderful, both the front desk staff and those in the restaurant. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional in the food department as well. The car park is close to entrance for easy access. The room, on the ground floor, was very modern, comfortable and well equipped .

« Great price »

This is one of the most reasonably priced Accor Hotels I've stayed at in NZ. Great value, good sized rooms, comfortable, clean and tidy, friendly manager. I think he was the manager, he smiled and said hello and looked dressed like the Manager. Breakfast was nice with several choices of hot and cold dishes, and for $1 you really can't complain. Close to Salmond College where our son boards and just across the road from the botanical gardens though we didn't have much time on this visit to go for a walk. Will definitely come back here again.

Amy, Wow, what a wonderful review, thank you. Indeed on your next visit, you should allow yourself some time to explore NZ's oldest Botanical Gardens. They are a little bare currently but with spring approaching the new blooms won't be far away. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Cheers

« Basic Hotel »

Rooms are clean and comfortable but for someone not booked out having everyone near each other wasn't good as we got no sleep.Breakfast we prepaid but was so expensive based on other accor hotels and the quality of the food, cleaniness of the restaurant and plates, cultery we couldn't get out of there quick enough

Kirsten, I am troubled by your review. At the time of your stay we were in fact working on refurbishments in the other wing and to keep our guest undisturbed by building noise we appear to have inadvertently caused an alternate issue. I apologize for that. I am also concerned at your comments around breakfast and have spoken with our F&B Team about your concerns as this is certainly not a reflection of normality. Our full buffet breakfast price of $24 is on par if not better than many of our competitor hotels here in Dunedin. With regards to your heading of Basic Hotel, I think it is important for me to allude to the facilities we do offer for those potential customers reading this review. We offer 1GB free wifi per device per day for up to 6 devices, Bluetooth streaming capability, USB charging ports, in room digital safes, Flat screen panel TV's, Iron & Ironing board and emergency torches as standard equipment in all rooms

This Mercure hotel is very comfortable and easy to find. The staff are polite, friendly and are multi tasked. The room service food is very well presented and of course, delicious to boot. The shuttle service is prompt. I would highly recommend staying here for any kind of visit.

« Good hotel, shame about the restaurant »

Loved the location, close to botanic gardens, supermarket and bottle store within walking distance, also noticed an Italian place that i'd try next time. Its not really close enough to town to walk at night but taxi or uber would fix that. room was clean, comfy and warm, with everything you need. Bar was quick to provide ice and a bottle opener when requested. Had a bit of a bum time at the restaurant...lack of communication mainly (tell us if the tour group who were seated 1/2hour after us is to get both their courses before our mains are started!). They did try and rectify with a round of drinks but we'd already been waiting over an hour by then. apart from that i would stay there again (but not eat there)

« Way below Mercure standard »

The breakfast is very expensive compared to very low quality food. The worse breakfast I have had in Mercure brand. The hotel carpet is very old and overall everything seems old. The only positive things is their staff, Staffs are very helpful.

« Good »

As this is almost next door to the world famous Botanic garden it is very convenient for keen gardeners. Meals and drinks a bit expensive. Museum and university facilities within waking distance. Of Easy access to other parts of Dunedin by local bus

« Friendly, clean & convenient »

Friendly accommodation staff. Clean and convenient location. Great value for price. Rooms clean and comfortable. Dunedin has much to offer those visiting Otago peninsula to see beautiful wildlife and scenery.

« Budget accommodation »

The hotel was average but clean. The staff were helpful but not necessarily that knowledgeable. Close to botanic gardens which are great and probably makes a good family friendly hotel. Quite a walk into town but was in a nice quiet area

« The nicest town in NZ »

I cannot say anything against the place , I love it and so nice thenearby peninsula of Otago. the scenario , arriving from North, is beautiful and the hotel is just next door to the highway. The rooms are wide and so well prepared

« Useful stop over »

A useful stop over en route Te Anau to Christchurch. One of few hotels in area with adequate parking. Although located next to a road junction this did not affect us and the gardens were appreciated. The Botanic gardens are just over the road and free for entry. Poor check in service.

« Privacy in Dunedin »

I have stayed at thisHotel 3 times this year and have always found the search at checking in out great and the Restaurant serves delicious "large" portion of food. The rooms are very comfortable androids that look into the Garden Court Yard are Quite compared to rooms facing the Road. They have always honoured the Room upgrade for Gold and Platinum Accor members for me.
