This Mercure hotel is very comfortable and easy to find. The staff are polite, friendly and are multi tasked. The room service food is very well presented and of course, delicious to boot. The shuttle service is prompt. I would highly recommend staying here for any kind of visit.

« Good hotel, shame about the restaurant »

Loved the location, close to botanic gardens, supermarket and bottle store within walking distance, also noticed an Italian place that i'd try next time. Its not really close enough to town to walk at night but taxi or uber would fix that. room was clean, comfy and warm, with everything you need. Bar was quick to provide ice and a bottle opener when requested. Had a bit of a bum time at the restaurant...lack of communication mainly (tell us if the tour group who were seated 1/2hour after us is to get both their courses before our mains are started!). They did try and rectify with a round of drinks but we'd already been waiting over an hour by then. apart from that i would stay there again (but not eat there)

« Way below Mercure standard »

The breakfast is very expensive compared to very low quality food. The worse breakfast I have had in Mercure brand. The hotel carpet is very old and overall everything seems old. The only positive things is their staff, Staffs are very helpful.

« Good »

As this is almost next door to the world famous Botanic garden it is very convenient for keen gardeners. Meals and drinks a bit expensive. Museum and university facilities within waking distance. Of Easy access to other parts of Dunedin by local bus

« Friendly, clean & convenient »

Friendly accommodation staff. Clean and convenient location. Great value for price. Rooms clean and comfortable. Dunedin has much to offer those visiting Otago peninsula to see beautiful wildlife and scenery.

« Budget accommodation »

The hotel was average but clean. The staff were helpful but not necessarily that knowledgeable. Close to botanic gardens which are great and probably makes a good family friendly hotel. Quite a walk into town but was in a nice quiet area

« The nicest town in NZ »

I cannot say anything against the place , I love it and so nice thenearby peninsula of Otago. the scenario , arriving from North, is beautiful and the hotel is just next door to the highway. The rooms are wide and so well prepared

« Useful stop over »

A useful stop over en route Te Anau to Christchurch. One of few hotels in area with adequate parking. Although located next to a road junction this did not affect us and the gardens were appreciated. The Botanic gardens are just over the road and free for entry. Poor check in service.

« Privacy in Dunedin »

I have stayed at thisHotel 3 times this year and have always found the search at checking in out great and the Restaurant serves delicious "large" portion of food. The rooms are very comfortable androids that look into the Garden Court Yard are Quite compared to rooms facing the Road. They have always honoured the Room upgrade for Gold and Platinum Accor members for me.

« The day the bus came in. »

This hotel is run down and managed poorly. The room I was in had an adjoining door that was paper thin and the noise from the next room came straight in. Went to dinner on the first night and was treated like a child and told that they could not fit me in at all, the lady was rude. They had two buses in and the place was packed, so the regular customers were treated like dirt due to the greed of the bus customers. Rand room service and was told they could not cope so no dinner! Later room service rand back and decided to assist. The following night the same except room service was excellent. The last night all was Hormel. Due to the above, this removed my Accor Hotel discount for dinner and on exit from the hotel they were not prepared to consider this. A lesson in how to upset your best customers. Sorry never again.

« Poor experience »

This hotel was the first time in over 12 years being an Accor member I ran into trouble . They one offered one welcome drink wher every where els they offer one for you and one for you partner. I asked about it and was told despite it’s everywhere else there policy was just one drink. The staff at reception were not that welcoming. The food was ver good but the waiting staff leaved a lot to be desired. They lacked professional training.

« Grudging service »

The hotel is fine but the only Accor worldwide who grudgingly honors loyal guests. Never upgrades - the room we got stank of smoke. We got moved but not with grace. As an Accor Gold status holder we get a welcome drink. Every hotel, when 2 guests are booked, give two drinks. Mercure Dunedin gives one (on our last 2 stays). Any goodwill the hotel has by being an Accor property gets wiped out by its mean spirited nature. The loyalty program is more a business arrangement - you stay with us more and we will take care of you - yet Mercure Dunedin grudges any benefits. Will not stay again tho we come to Dunedin several times a year.

« Family stay »

Our family enjoyed a pleasant stay in Dunedin in winter. The room was comfortable (although a bit small - bit of a squash with all the luggage and winter items for a family of 4). We dined in the restaurant for dinner - food was superb and staff were friendly. Our rooms were all cleaned daily. Having the Botanical Gardens across the road with a kids playground was great - especially when the sun comes out. Supermarkets, restaurants, take-away and attractions all in easy reach.

« A great hotel to stay while in Dunedin »

A well located hotel set in beautiful surroundings with the Botanic gardens across the road and within walking distance of central Dunedin city. We had a large, very comfortable room leading to a beautifully kept garden area, very good meals in the dining room and friendly ,helpful staff and lots of parking space. What else could you want?

« I always stay here »

I always stay here when I'm travelling for Business, so it was a no brainer to stay here when I was travelling on holiday with my family! Being a Accor Hotel is great for my points, But that's not the only reason I keep coming back.

« Nice spot next to Botanical Gardens and close proximity to Otago Uni »

Friendly staff and very helpful, good parking, nice grounds to sit under the trees and relax with a drink. Rooms have balcony's. Older property but well kept and bathroom nice and modern / renovated. I was there during 30'C heatwave (rare) and no air cond (have heaters but no cooling). Staff supplied fans and room quickly cooled down. Would stay again...

« An excellent value for money hotel »

We come back to this hotel every time when we are in Dunedin. Rooms are comfortable and clean, well serviced. We have our meals in house, as the food and menu are excellent - all meals, and overall value for money.

« Very pleasant »

We had a good night's sleep in a quiet, clean room and a good breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Dunedin and parking is free. We would definitely stay there again.
