The Sofitel Hotel was the perfect airport over night accommodation. It is close to arrivals and departures, and it is modern with well equipped bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. The restaurants are excellent, providing a variety from fine dining to casual eateries.

Very friendly staff and as convenient as can be when flying from Gatwick. On the other hand, architecturally (in- and exterior) disappointing and the food in the restaurant was below average.

Service at the chinese restaurant could have been better. Not very welcoming or friendly. Room was nice. At checkin we should have been informed to put our card down for room service - Had to go down again as reception busy. ( when we called room service - only then we were informed about the card ) - Shower waa dated.

Long wait to check in at reception. No lifts in car park and carried luggage down three flights - not told this by porter who directed us there. Fire alarm in night. It highlighted how badly the stairs were signposted as no-one knew where they were and not signposted from the main corridor and once on the stairs we did not know what level to exit on - reception (marked podium for some strange reason or other). Also, when at podium, no-one knew where to send us. We were sent outside to sent to front of hotel and no-one was there to meet us and take us to the appropriate area. There was no information and no blankets for children for quite some time. The staff there were struggling and we felt for them. It was not good and if it had been real, then I feel the outcome would be dreadful. I was very disappointed. No minibar in room as standard rooms don't get them, despite being asked for credit card details -not sure what for. Took over half an hour to answer the phone when booking. Location fab.

First, I was so relieved to find a room so late at night. I am a senior and was exhausted. Secondly, I really appreciated being able to stay in the room until my flight the next evening for a few extra pounds. The room itself was quiet and comfortable. The reception staff were extremely kind and polite. I felt as if I was being cared for, which was what I needed.

« Extremely convenient for North terminal. »

Would definitely use hotel again for use of North terminal. What sells this hotel, for me, is the parking facility. Easy check in and out. Comfortable room. Food and some alcoholic drink a little over priced (glass of wine!) Also, the reason I didn’t give a 10 was because 12% tip was added to any bar / restaurant bill. My husband went up to the bar to get a drink and there was an automatic 12% tip! However they do take the 12% off with no problem when asked.
