Should not charge $150 to my credit card as a security deposit when I had already paid in full many months before my stay. You charged $150 to my card and then I have to wait 7 to 14 days to have it reversed. I think this is a ridiculous practice and it upsets me.

Dear Mr. Stephen, Thank you for taking the time to convey your comments regarding your recent stay at the Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay through our online survey. It seems that the hotel’s deposit policy was not properly communicated to you during your visit, please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. It is a common standard operating procedure in most international hotel chains here in Singapore to take a credit card pre-authorization upon arrival to give our guests the privilege of signing for any additional charges (e.g. restaurant / bar charges, laundry service) and settling the total bill upon check-out, instead of immediately after consumption or immediately after utilizing the service. I do note your frustration with this arrangement hence you may wish to know that there is an option to opt out from this arrangement. Once again, I apologize if this was not communicated to you and I have advised our front office manager to address this matter with the team accordingly. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us and therefore giving us the opportunity to improve and I sincerely hope that this experience does not keep you from staying with us again and that we get an opportunity to welcome you again on your next trip to Singapore. Nice hotel in a good area near the river. Nice river view. Good evening buffet. The check in was excellent. Really great service and efforts to help with a late check out. Only a couple of minor issues. The rooms are a little dated and no complimentary drink for a good member?

Excellent. We were upgraded for an extra night without having to change rooms. The hotel was extremely quiet, which was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful. Wonderful to be able to store bags and to use the shower facilities after checkout. Location too was excellent for us. Thank you

We have very pleasant stay with Novotel and we definitely come back. But please please fix the children channel, I don't think Cartoon Network is suitable for children below 6yo, and we are not familiar with others channel, so pleaseeee add more option for our children in room entertainment and your wifi connection. Very slow.

We stayed 7 nights in a premium club room. The club lounge was oK; limited breakfast items and afternoon teas (only cake) Drinks free flowing although no sparkling wine or champagne and only basic red or white wine. The club staff were wonderful. We did breakfast in main dining room in stead of lounge; choice was extensive but crazy busy. Only downside of room was no drawer space.

« We enjoyed our stay because of the helpful and obliging staff in all areas, and the position of the hotel. »

The club staff gave us answers to many questions we asked about Singapore and went out of their way to find out things for us. They also helped us with our online ticketing and driver pick up when leaving the hotel. Their service and helpfulness was very much appreciated. The men on the down stairs desk advised us each day the best way to get to our wanted destination supplying maps and directions. I do not think we would have found our way around Singapore so easily with out the time and effort they put into helping us.

Well to start with I did not get an early check or even a room which i was ready to pay for on the day of my arrival. I understand that the hotel was totally booked but it did cause me some inconvenience as I had traveled all night and reached SG early in the morning. I needed a room to freshen up and head to work. The front office representative suggested that i freshen up in the shower area near the swimming pool, which i eventually did. But it kind of left me a bit disappointed. In the evening i did get a room, but the Air conditioning was not working. Anyways was too tired to even raise a complaint so i just slept. However the next day i did inform the front office regarding the AC and in the evening when i cam back it was not working. So had to call for help again, and then the technician came and fixed it. Inspite of all this i would still say that my stay was satisfactory because the staff was very helpful. I use Novotel extensively and my husband is an Accor club member.

hotel hardware is as my expected for novotel, a 3.5-4 stars standard. The welcome drink is disappointed, when it's served, all the excitements are gone with the stunning glass, I wouldn't expect such a glass even in a fast food shop, perhaps a 30 years old one. The TV is awesome, at first I was surprised that there are movies, android mirroring and youtube. And then I found out android mirroring is so picky on the devices and apps. And the youtube is actually a limited version which I cannot access to youtube clips as I wanted. Eventually these value added service are meaningless to me. So, the rest is the regular TV channels. I was going to stay in the room and watch some formula, and the whole TV system went down for over an hour, what can I say.............. And there is one thing I just discovered and waiting for verification. I was asked to give my credit card for the deposit, this I have no problem. When I checked out I was asked again for the same credit card to do the cancel of the deposit, this I never experienced before, the other hotels all just tear my credit card slip. I have share this to people and people told me that, this is because it's not a cancellation of the deposit, it's a refund. A refund will lead to a lost due to different buy and sell currency rate that the visa company uses, while a cancellation is just a cancellation, nothing occurred. I am still waiting for the monthly report of the credit card to verify this, but if this is true, I don't get it why your hotel wastes customer's money like this.

While I am glad that you found the hotel facilities according to Novotel standards, I am disappointed to hear that there were some aspects of your stay that did not meet your expectations. Your feedback on the welcome drink as well as the TV system has been noted; they will certainly be taken into consideration as we continue to make plans for future improvements. Meanwhile, your stay unfortunately coincided with the time when we unexpectedly had an issue with our TV system however please rest assured that this was an isolated incident which has since been resolved. With regard to the cancellation of your credit card deposit, I wish to assure you that you will not incur any monetary loss on this transaction. Our reception staff requested for your credit card upon check-out as this step allows us to facilitate the cancellation of your deposit straight away instead of waiting until the end of the day to facilitate the release of the deposit. I do hope that this clarifies the matter; nonetheless, we remain at your disposal should you require further clarification. I do hope that this experience does not keep you from staying with us again and that we get an opportunity to welcome you again and provide a more memorable stay experience in the future.
