« A little Dissappointed »

We stay at the Sofitel Brisbane quiet often and always have a wonderful stay. A couple of things disappointed us this time. Our request for a room with a city view wasn't granted. The buffet on Friday night didn't have a wide selection range as it usually does. And on Sunday we had breakfast buffet at 10 am and was not told that it closed at 10.30 till we paid and was seated. We were however granted a late check out which was nice.

- i checked in circa 8,30pm - upon being dropped off by my taxi there was no one waiting for me to assist with suitcases until after i had already walked into the lobby. - upon arriving to my room there was an issue with room lights. i was advised that it would take an engineer half an hour to fix the issue, so then i changed rooms as that would have been quite late. when i went back to my room to get my suitcase (5 mins later) the engineer was already there. normally this would be great, however i was advised 30mins hence changing rooms. - when i was at reception noting the issue with the bedroom light, i was offered no apology for the inconvienence. when i was given my new room key the number was verbally told to me, and i had to specifically ask for it to be written down. whilst this was not 'rude' it was not the level of service i would expect from a sofitel. - i was advised room service would take 30mins, it took 45 mins - the tv welcome message stated 'Mr' and i am a female with an obviously female name. this lack of attention to detail added to the overall experience. - when i received my bill and this survey to complete it was addressed 'First name, Ms, Surname'. again, poor attention to detail. positives: - room service food was of good quality -in the morning i received helpful instructions on how to get to my city destination

I have stayed at multiple SOFITELs in EU, Asia and South America, and the Brisbane Sofitel does not fit what I am used too. The room carpets smelled sometimes, the bathrooms were old, the bed.matress was really bad (sunk in the middle), and the room was noisy (you could hear the outside noise from 5am to 11pm). There were multiple colleagues of mine who complained about the same above issues. A SOFITEL in my opinion is a 5 star hotel chain, and this was not one of them. The people were excellent and very helpful.

« Smoking in hotel rooms -- isn't smoking against legislation in Australia? »

First, Sofitel Brisbane is one of my favourite places to stay; however, this time around my room was next to someone who smoked. I thought it strange when I first checked in that afternoon that there was an overpowering smell of air freshener, and then when I returned to my room around 8.30 pm after quite a long day out at various business appointments, and after a very pleasant drink and a light meal in the Cuvee bar, I found my room had a slight haze of smoke via the connecting door but the smell of heavy smoke almost knocked me out. I called the customer services immediately and I would have expected to have something done to assist me, as I am an asthmatic -- nothing happened to assist me that evening that I was made aware of, and until I approached reception early the next morning, still nothing had happened to assist me. No staff member had contacted me or otherwise notified me that the person in the next room had been requested to stop smoking. I got no sleep whatsoever, and learnt only the next morning when I approached reception that a staff member had apparently requested the person in the next room to stop smoking; that staff contact certainly hadn't stopped that person smoking, as after a very disturbed night, I got up the at 5 am the next morning to the continued smell of heavy smoke in my room. Only after approaching reception and making my concerns known again was I moved to another room. I appreciate that the hotel was busy at this particular time, but it was not well managed that after my original enquiry nothing was done to assist me at the time and only then with my follow-up much later when the staff were extremely helpful. In addition, as a long-time member of Accor, I don't believe I was provided with any discount on food as when I returned home and reviewed the invoice provided I am unclear if the meal discount had been applied. This has happened on several occasions at Sofitel Brisbane, and I am of the opinion that the guest should not have to follow up on membership discounts or privileges at check-out at the Accor members desk, if any such privileges or discounts should be applied or haven't been applied. I am quite disappointed with my stay at Sofitel Brisbane on this occasion.

« Had a wonderful time »

No complaints, room was very good without being exceptional. Had a problem with the pillows ( I saw the pillow note and next time we will use it). Food was outstanding. It was very hard to hold back. We are going to utilise your hotel more often, as my wife works within walking distance. It's a great way to spend a Sunday evening

Was a very good experience could have been a great experience if the elevators were all working. Peak times for the conference I was attending was always meet with only two or three elevators working this meant waiting for three and sometimes four or more lifts to go through before being able to fit. Sunday morning with every one leaving we waited for four before one of us could get on the other three had to wait for more. Hard when your lift is already down stairs waiting for your.

Lifts constantly not working and waiting for long periods of time. Internet service was terrible. We booked for 4 nights. We tried the Lobby, restaurant area, business lounge and room. My husband went to the reception to mentioned that even when in the business lounge we could not operate properly. We were upgraded to the next level of service for internet. Disappointed that this could not be offered when arriving at reception. We were on Business and holiday and spent most of our time trying to send the most basic of emails.

The concierge, reception and room service were excellent. The quality of food and beverage product combined with efficient service made those experiences pleasurable. The key area for improvement was the availability of lift services. At times the number of operating lifts appeared to be very limited and some guests resorted to using the stairs which were difficult to navigate toward the lower levels. I experienced several occasions where the arriving lift was already full and on one occasion waited approximately 12 minutes for a lift with sufficient capacity for me to use (going down from floor 17).

Wonderful service given at reception, concierge and the club room. All staff were attentive but friendly. The bed provides the most comfortable relax feeling for a good night sleep. The location is tremendous in regards to train travel.

I chose this as my complimentary Accor night, it was a fortunate choice, the central location was perfect and the bed the most comfortable one I have ever slept in. After some bad experiences with food it was glorious to have food perfectly prepared and presented - and good to eat! Just one thing. I found on check out that I could have stayed longer but when asked on check out said, tentatively 1pm. Then I found I could have stayed til 5pm - which I would have done had I not been already packed to go.. Apart from this it was a perfect experience - and I like to think I am discerning!

After flying 39 plus hours the Sofitel was a welcome respite. I can only say how much I appreciated the professionalism,kindness and assistance rendered by you staff especially the ladies in the Sofitel Club Lounge. It was a delightful stay and I shall most certainly return when next in Brisbane

We had a delayed flight so checked in late bur were assisted efficiently. The hotel was full. Breakfast in the morning was managed efficiently - although we had to ask for breakfast cereal bowls which had been heavily used. Helpful in printing out documents for a meeting, and advice from the concierge on taxi to our car hire pickup.

We have had issues in the past and this time, things were still not quite right. It seems that if you have a split booking, there are problems linking the bookings together and therefore the allocation of Accor Hotels Club points become confused, as is in this case. Also we had to ask for our room to be cleaned at 5pm when we returned from lunch. The room had the "please make up my room" sign on the door from 12pm when we left to go for lunch.
