Very clean and tidy accommodation. Great location in downtown Christchurch.It is only small but had everything we needed. Limited parking available but plenty of commercial parking near by. Normally don't stay at Ibis hotels but would stay here again.

generally ok, but found room was too small with having 2 queen beds, which could accomodate 4 people, yet 4 people would struggle to move in that small room. that size room only needed one queen bed and if necesary maybe a single bed? lighting was poor as needs central light in ceiling not just wall lights that make the room a bit dark and dingy in places. restaurant meals were a poor selection, althoug reasonably priced for hotel. only steak meal was sirloin which only proved to me why I never order it as tough and not nice like eye or scotch fillet, plus no other normal meals with meat selections.

Central location, warm welcome upon arrival. Attentive staff in restaurant, efficient early morning check out, taxi arrived as requested. Only negative was the somewhat excessive NZ$50 charge for early arrival.

Our room was not large enough to accommodate 2 double beds, as very little area was left for suitcases etc. Two single beds would have made it quite a workable space.

Check in was lengthy, staff asked if I was the mother of my girlfriend and chatted at length after we’d just travelled 20 hours. While room was large enough for two closet space was small and room was bare bones. Walls in bathroom need a re-paint and bed kept moving like the wheels needed to be locked. Shampoo and conditioner were adequate, would have appreciated lotion. Heater was quiet, hot water was ample and we enjoyed the breakfast. Would have been nice to have the coffee machine in the bar available all day. Appreciated the baggage storage after check out. I booked this room because I knew the location was premium and I’ve stayed in other ibis hotels around the world and loved them. This ibis, however, fell short and I won’t recommend or stay here again.

The hotel provides an outstanding service punching way beyond the modest actual building. I would stay here in preference to far more lavish and expensive hotels. Clean, warm welcome, excellent breakfast, wonderful very central position!

I have been to Christchurch many times before and after the quake but never to this hotel and never stayed this close to the old Cathedral. The Location is therefore what makes this place stand out for me.
