Checked in and while I was paying $199 a night was allocated a room with double double. If I dont sleep in a double bed a home why would I pay $199 a night to? I asked for a queen bed but was told there was only 1 left on the 1st floor next to the restaurant. I didnt mind as I was out all day working and all I needed was a good nights sleep in a bed of a normal size for an adult. Parking was a nightmare!

The room was good staff friendly pretty poor to be told there is no parking and you can park in a public car park about 800 metres away or try your luck on the street. I thought that was pretty poor. I left an i phone charger in my room and rang back to see if it was picked up by the cleaners. I never expected to get it back but it wouldn't have been hard to return my call as promised. So I guess a little bit of customer care would improve overall experience. Like the phone charger return call I don't expect to hear back regarding this survey.

Hello Garry I'm sorry the team we didn't follow up your request for the charger. I've flagged this with the operations manager of the hotel to follow up immediate for you. I do appreciate the parking can be frustrating in Christchurch and our hotel. Our car park can only accommodate around 5% of our guests and as such don't advertise any parking onsite in the hope our guests will come seek alternatives before arriving. our communication has not been good enough to date. We have not lived up to the expectation we set ourselves and for this i'm sorry. I hope that I can convince you to change your mind about another visit to our property. Please reach out to me directly if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experience around. Great location, central city. I was on higher floor (8) and found it very quiet etc. Breakfast was average, coffee machine didn't really work (only delivered long black not coffee with milk) . This would have improved my impression of the breakfast.

A compact but well appointed room, has everything you need. Pleasant staff, great dinner. However I paid a wee bit extra for an Ibis plus room, and not entirely sure what the "plus" is. Yes, the room was on a higher floor, but the view has been largely built out - this is of course out of Ibis's control, but pushing it a bit to advertise high floors as a benefit. The promised bottles of water weren't there, but the wifi was free - although arguably, given the difference and price & benefits between the standard and plus room, it could be argued it wasn't! All in all, a pleasant hotel, but the plus rooms not value for money.

« My favourite place to stay in Christchurch »

I truly enjoy staying with the IBIS for many reasons. The staff are all so pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast while not as much of a selection as Novotel, is perfect for my needs and always so well kept by staff. The dinners I had were some of the best meals I have had at any restaurant this year. The lamb shank was to die for. The layout of the room was on par with the hiltons, Novotels, mercures i stay with, with all the amenities you need - it maybe smaller, but the renovations and the sleek look were perfect for anyone's need and it always made the room look clean and smart. I always recommend my friends this hotel for location, cleanliness, food and above all the staff.
