We dinned in the restaurant and were very impressed with the quality and flavours of the food. Usually quite critical (because my wife is a good cook) we would rate the food as 10/10. Very helpful staff and a nice room with some lolly cake left to go with any drink we might have in our room.

The hotel was well placed & staff were welcoming & helpful. I ate in the hotel restaurant on both evenings & enjoyed dinner there. There was a good choice for breakfast. The only reservation I wold have was the limited wifi access which in most hotels nowadays is available unlimited in guest bedrooms.

The Ibis was a great stay, check in and check out was quick and friendly, the location was extraordinary (right by The Terrace, Cathedral Square, etc.), the room was clean and functional (but very small).

Excellent staff, room was clean with comfy bed. Enjoyed the food however the food I ordered via room service arrived Luke warm to cold. (food was served up on a cold plate, by the time I got it via room service...almost cold & couldn't eat it..not worth the $5 surcharge) But hotel had best location to CBD.

Having stayed in many Ibis Hotels the Christchurch Hotel met my expectations good in all respects but one. My problem occurred at dinner. The food was well cooked and tasty but having ordered pasta with watercress pesto I was served pasta with a creamy white sauce. I spoke to my waitress who spoke to the chef and the answer I got was that the sauce was a watercress flavoured sauce. This was definitely not a pesto and I feel that I did not get a satisfactory outcome to my complaint.

I have traveled in various countries, and stayed in different hotels. When I checked in, I would expect everything is ready. The room is the first one I need to event asked for bath towels. Either the room clean team didn't do their job or no one checked to ensure everything is set for delivery. Very bad!

My wife and I stayed at the Ibis on our last work trip to Christchurch. We have stayed here multiple times, the staff are always great and look after us well! The rooms although not huge are always very clean. Breakfast has improved significantly! Overal a good experience!!

There was a constant bad smell in the bathroom the whole time. I think it was coming from the overflow drain pipe in the middle of the bathroom floor. The bathroom wall also looked like it had had something splattered all over it and cleaned off, leaving drip-mark-looking stains. Otherwise, no issues. Comfortable bed and clean.

« I have stayed with Ibis in Darling Harbour Sydney, Hobart Tasmania and now Christchurch New Zealand and have been completely satisfied. »

On arrival we were warmly greeted in reception. Our room was very functional, although very compact with two large beds. Everything needed was provided. The TV was set to very low volume for a couple of octogenarians. The hotel was well situated and close to the delightful BOTANIC GARDENS. We did not eat inhouse due to our budget. On departure we were very well helped with taxi etc.

Being this was my first trip to NZ and Christchurch, I felt welcome by all at the hotel. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The hotel is located in a prime location which allowed me to take in a lot of sights and activities all on foot. As mentioned, the staff was excellent. My only suggestion to the hotel is regarding breakfast. Breakfast was satisfiying, but the scrambled eggs seemed to be very runny. More liquid than solid. I felt they could have been prepared/cooked more. The bacon, I felt should have been cooked more also. I was the first person to breakfast on the day I ordered it, and afterwards I felt I did not get the value I had hoped. Im due back in late Feb. for 3nights, and Ill look things over first before ordering. On a sidenote.....After leaving Christchurch I traveled to the Ibis Invercargill for a 3 night stay. A complete disappointment. I checked out after one long, uncomfortable night. The room - 415, had NO Ventalation orher than a filthy,lint covered desk fan. The window shades were mangled, and room became a steamroom after showering. The management at that location needs a speaking to. I will continue to look for your hotels for the remaining 2 months I am visiting NZ. Cheers, D. D..
