« Noisy and Cold »

We were dumped in room 115 right next to a massive and viciously noisy access door serving the underground car park next to this hotel. It operated almost continuously from about 5:00am making sleep impossible! It was supposed to be a "superior" room and should have been carpeted - but it was not. There was no independent heating control during the day - the desk told us it was automatic and had to be turned off during the day ! The worst issue is that there were 7 free superior rooms available that night so there was no need to dump us in 115. So "thank you" to the very experienced receptionist ( judging by her obvious maturity) for allocating 115 to two weary travellers in their 60s - ( maybe she thought we were not tech-savvy so could not cause any trouble). We are Accor Members of many years standing but will never use an Accor Hotel again. Breakfast was very good.

Room 115 is a superior room and is not carpeted becouse we put the parquet recently. Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I don't understand how do you know that there were 7 superior rooms free that night, Do you have a passpartout to open all the rooms of the hotel? I really don't understand when our very experienced receptionst give you the key of 115 why you didn't ask for an high floor? since you already knew that there were seven other free superior rooms available. I think this will remain a mistery for me. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. « Not enjoyable »

The room was small and very noisy from the air con unit above we stayed in 803. The room was too hot and no air con to cool us down we had to open the balcony door. The safe Was broke and we asked someone to looked at it but no one did. I was woken up throughout the night by load banging which was from the air con heating above our room this also buzzed all night/. The breakfast was poor quality and not replenished enough the hot food was cold and the coffee was also cold/.

« Good place to stay »

There was tea/coffee facilities in the room. We always highly appreciate that. TV with USB input with ability of video playback is a big plus. Good location, good breakfast. Unfortunately air condition system seems to be not enough effective, or we just could not find optimal settings: there was a bit stuffy at the comfort for us (i.e. almost inaudible) noise level. Having slippers in the room would be good.

Overall good, clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast excellent location for seeing sights. Travelled in January, so the air conditioning was not turned on, understandable. Our room was way too hot, we ask the front desk to adjust, they offered us a fan, which was very effective at moving the hot air around but not to cool the room. Our only solution was to crack the balcony door open whenever we were in the room. The only problem with this solution was it was shared balcony with the entire floor, so we felt somewhat vulnerable at night.

The hotel is very good as to the quality of the rooms, furniture and cleanliness. However, all services offered by the staff of the hotel cannot be rated higher than the three stars. The details are below: - during the hotel booking the "tea & coffee making facilities" were offered but in fact there was no coffee in the room at all - neither the coffee-machine, nor the instant coffee; only a small electric kettle and a few teabags were provided together with the plastic disposable glasses - not even the tea-cups; - on one of the days at 09.00 we went for breakfast and when returned at 09.30 we had already a cleaning lady inside the room making the beds, etc.; when we asked her to come one hour later, we heard compaints from her that she does not have time one hour later; only after a vigorous insisting from our side she left the room; further we had to put the 'do not disturb' sign when we went for breakfast; - the room is equipped with a purple fluorescent lighting that is switched on during the night and makes it difficult to sleep; this light is obviously used as an advertisement light in almost all rooms and it cannot be switched off from within the room; - the supply of the mineral water in the room's fridge (bar) was not regular and we had to require the mineral water from the receptionist a few times; - in general, the receptionists are not very friendly and they do not seem to understand English well - at least some of them; on the last day of the stay we wanted to extend the check-out from the regular 12.00 to 14.00; the receptionist was very unwelcoming and allowed staying only till 13.00; when we mentioned the silver level of the membership status of the accorhotels, the receptionist could not understand what we were talking about; so we had to wait till another receptionist replaced this one and only when this receptionist saw that we were a bit nervous about the issue, she allowed to stay till 14.00; on these dates the season is very low and a good part of the hotel was empty, so it is difficult to interpret the responses of the hotel staff.

« 3 Nights in Palermo »

We enjoyed staying at your hotel once we moved from the street side into a quieter room and an older, softer mattress was brought in. The new mattresses are very firm—too hard for me. I would not have been able to stay if it had not been for the additional mattress which we put on top of the hard one. Breakfast was good. Hotel staff were very professional and helpful. The hotel is in a convenient location in the old part of town.

« Hidden gem in the centre of Palermo »

The hotel is lovely, breakfast is great. Breakfast staff particularly nice, helpful, cheerful, always on hand to top up supplies. Reception staff lovely too, helpful and polite. The room (107) overlooks the street and was noisy at times, maybe it's time to get better glass. I'm a light sleeper and the noise of vespas and other traffic was annoying. The internet was good in the morning, but very very slow in the evening. One member of the bar staff refused to loan us 2 beer glasses, she really was indignant. We had been buying drinks at the bar but one evening over christmas, just wanted to have a quiet evening in our lovely spacious room. She also refused to allow us a nibble, they were clearly placed on the bar for guests and we are regulars at Accor (I think we clocked up over 40 nights in 2017!)

« Nicely furnished and good location. »

I stayed for a night before a tour I was on started in a location closer to the train station. It's a very comfortable and well run hotel with a nice breakfast room/restaurant, and it allowed me to explore a part of town--the really old town--that the tour stayed away from, which added a lot to my stay in town.

Location, staff and room in general were very good. However taking a shower was very difficult. I had to squeeze myself to the end of the bathtub in order to not have the shower spray go outside the glass enclosure. It was impossible. The floor got wet with puddles. Not a relaxing shower, as it should be, when you are worried about were the water may go

I booked a single room for night one of a three night stay. Nights 2 & 3 were booked for me by a tour company and I was supposed to have a larger room with double bed for those nights. The room I was given for the entire stay had a small bed and the room was very tiny and uncomfortable. There was only a small space to access the bed with walls on both sides. Very claustrophobic. When I returned with my tour group five days later, I was given a proper double room (that I should have been given for nights 2 & 3 as that’s what I paid for via tour group and the type of room the other solo travelers were given from the beginning!). I wasn’t too impressed... But I’d like to add that most of the staff at this hotel were very nice and professional.

Mercure quality: no question about. The hotel in Palermo is well located, large rooms very clean and confortable, first class service; the breakfast is fantastic. Regarding the price, we took an special offer. Unforgeatable experience.

« Good location to old town »

The hotel is the average standard Mercure type. The rooms are a bit odd due to the building shape and arrangement. It does not look very nice in appearance. The location is the best as it is close to the old town, you can walk to most sites. The facilites and breakfast are ok average. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The TV reception in the evenings is bad due to lots of interference and distorted TV sound and picture ( especially the german TV programmes). It is close about 10 mins to the airport bus stop at Politeama and the public bus stops are right near the hotel at te main road Via Roma. The area seems safe. There are many restaurants and shops, the main shopping street area at Liberta is nearby.

« Good location to old town »

The location of the hotel is good, close to the old town. So one can easily walk to most sites in the old town. The hotel itself is the average quality standard for the rooms, facilities and breakfast. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. It is close to the airport bus stop at Politeama, about 10 mins walk away. The public bus stops are very near the hotel on the main road Via Roma. The area around it is safe.

Mercure Palermo Centro is a great hotel for a stay in Palermo. Stylish, clean, spacious lobby and rooms. Great breakfast each morning as well. It is walking distance to most of the attractions in Palermo so it is easy to get around. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable so I had great sleep.

Two main point. 1- for the welcome drink it's not offer a glass of wine... in Italy, this is the same as don't offer a beer in Germany. 2- for me the most important, the breakfast is not at mercure level, not even Ibis level. The coffe machine is with soluble coffe, again: in Italy... the sort of cheeses, yogurt and fruits are not good, nuts I didn't found. No boiled egg or omelet are offer.... should improve. The room it's not bad, but the bad was too soft (need to change the lit)

« Less then expected. »

I stayed at the Mercure Palermo Centro right after staying in Sofitel Hotel In Warsaw in Poland. Maybe because of such a big difference in level of comfort, I could not appreciate to full extent the Mercure. Location was good, within walking distance to historical part of town, rooms clean and service quick enough, however there were quite a few problems that were not solved in spite of several attempts, like AC that was not cooling satisfactorily. Staff however was attentive and accommodating and, when after the first out of four nights I complained about a noise coming from the street below, I was moved to a quieter room (bigger too, but again with failing AC). Also, at the time I stayed there, hotel was extremely busy which of course didn't help especially during breakfast time when one needed to wait for instance for a table.
