I have reached the age where I get to travel a lot, to many states and countries and stay in a variety of accommodations. I even joined the Accor Group to gain benefits such as extended check out times, free upgrades when available and pick up the usual complimentary free glass of wine on arrival. Regularly staying at The Mercure, Sebel, Novotel and Ibis Hotel Groups. Unfortunately my stay with the Ibis Rotorua was one of the worst I had stayed in for a long time, on arrival there was no free upgrade and to be honest I know it depends on availability but!!!!, I was only offered free drinks after a gentle reminder that I was a Silver Member, later I asked the gentleman behind the desk about tour availabilities and which ones he would recommend and found he had very little knowledge about his role or the area he worked in or the tours available, disappointing. But the thing that topped off my bad experience was on the first night I accidentally spilt some coffee in bed and whilst all hotel groups are environmentally friendly and only change sheets/linen on request (which I did) but found this was not done for my three day stay and to top it off I was bitten by some kind of bed bug that left me with 10 x 7.5cm area of urticarial on my backside (photos to prove it if requested) which I had to get some antihistamine cream to treat. The room was never cleaned to a satisfactory standard for the length of my stay and unfortunately if this is the kind of service offered by the IBIS Rotorua to a ACCORPLUS Member it was disappointing and in all honesty would recommend you to any of my friends and will certainly placing this post on Trip Advisor as a warning to others.

Was very disappointing that we didn’t have free wifi because we did at every other place we stayed. The bathroom was small and the carpet stained.

Comfortable, warm, clean. Only very small issue is that i had no towels in my room - but no worries and borrowed one off my work colleague in the room next door!

« Great room, average food »

Room was tidy and adequate for my one night stay. Food however, was not good. The 24/7 grab and go menu had a vege nachoes. Took nearly an hour to prepare and when I collected was corn chips, what looked like tinned chilli beans and cheese. No sour cream or avocado as described on the menu. I called through and this was delivered but due $18 I was disappointed. Breakfast buffet was adequate but was warm, boarding on cold which is not ideal for a cooked breakfast.
