The hotel itself was great a very good standard for the price paid, room was very comfortable and clean. The front desk staff however were unapproachable, rude and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Initially upon check in telling me she couldn’t find my reservation, I am a travel agent and had to explain to her the room types booked. Then she asked me to pay, however the room was already paid in full. If one of my customers had been in my situation this would have made them upset and frustrated as they may have taken her word for it rather than correcting her and making her check again to then say she was wrong.

We recently stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Rotorua and unlike the Ibis at Auckland airport which has very claustrophobic rooms this one is definitely worth considering, it also has a pleasant dining lounge area.

« Disappointing as we were promised a room with a 'double double' view of the Lake. Room 152 did not afford this. »

When I booked accommodation for our North Shore Branch of NZEI, a return email confirmed that all our 6 rooms would have a double, double lake view, for the two of us in Room 152, there certainly was no lake view. The Hotel staff were at all times accommodating, polite and helpful. Especially when each day we had to ask for 2 flannels and a hand towel which were daily not replaced, when we asked this was attended to. The rooms were warm and clean as was the bed linen, we appreciated this. I think the breakfast would have been enhanced with porridge and poached eggs offered.

Check in was anoying as ghe lady assumed we knew about the hold of $50 a night on my credit card. Seems excessive as we had paid in advance for breakfast. Breakfast was great. Room attendants were polite too. Check out weng without a hitch too.

« Great holiday »

The rooms were clean albeit a little tight inside. The beds comfy. My son received a welcome toy and he loved it. The free use of the pool in the neighbouring hotel was a very big plus. We had so much fun. Some suggestions: Towel count - we continuously had to ask for an extra towel. We booked 2 rooms for 5 people and the 5th person was always missing a towel. Breakfast - the buffet breakfast was hearty although after the 2nd morning we were all missing some variety. It was the same thing everyday. And we stayed for 4 breakfasts. A toaster or bread heater for croissants would be very useful next time - it not only makes the croissants better it helps when they are stale.

The room wasn’t overly clean, the fridge was leaking, the internet was hopeless, the hotel was super noisy with guests slamming doors at 6am (noisy door closing mechanisms), breakfast was very average, girl working on breakfast was unfriendly, my room/elevator key from car park stopped working at 10:20am before I had even checked out and I had to walk around the hotel to get back in and ask the ladies cleaning rooms to let me back into my room!! Cutlery and plates at breakfast were dirty, hotel is really run down. Won’t be staying here again!

Least satisfied with my stay here. There were many things wrong including lengthy wait for check in, staff attitude, breakfast was not worth eating (thankfully it only cost a dollar), and other issues. I am aware that the building was going through renovation (carpet) however, unfortunately this only hindered my ability to give a better review for the building itself. My biggest upset was that this Hotel is a part of Accor. It is through these experiences that I question whether i want to continue paying for a membership when ultimately the service I recieve comes down to the individual hotels and staff. There was no priority check in, the hospitality was lacking and the service was slow (watching one staff member take 15 mins to clean three tables off from breakfast - and no, it was not busy). If the staff had second to none focus on their hospitality then this hotel would be worth the star rating. I would like to mention there was one lady who was really helpful at the desk, but the other 3 I encountered need a wake up call or choose another profession. To be honest the only real reason I am even providing feedback is because of Accor. If Ibis were stand alone I would just not bother to return.

no free wifi in this day and age when used as a business hotel is really poor. staff seemed keen to close the bar repeatedly when guests where coming and going check in was not as straight forward as other ibis hotels

We found the service very below average for an Accor Hotel. The staff were not very welcoming or friendly. In fact not one staff member looked very interested in their guests at all. I work in a customer service industry and manage staff. There is clearly training required. For example, on Sunday when tried to check out, the receptionist was on the phone for a very long time, we left the room key on the desk and walked out. They could have acknowledged us and either requested assistance or offered to call the customer back. Very basic service. I don't complain, but Im also unlikely to recommend or return as a guest. The staff I'm referencing too are the front desk staff and the dining room staff.

Would like to congratulate all staff in the dining room where we had dinner we were celebrating my wifes 85 th birthday and was blown away with their service and care they showed us plus the surprise at the end of our meal when they came out with a decorated plate cake and candle. then when I to pay bill the hostess said the meal was on the hotel I was Speechless" Thank You ". It showed us that we live in a GREAT COUNTRY WITH CARING PEOPLE
