Excellent experience Starting with a welcoming call prior to arrival, enquiring how we could be helped. Front desk, check in was efficiently handled. In our room, a personal note from the manager, along with bottled water, drink vouchers, and wi fi. Talking to, desk staff and cleaning staff, was always a pleasure

We stay at this hotel as a winter escape every year, sometimes a few times a year. We checked in late afternoon and received a warm and friendly welcome by the guy on the desk. To our surprise we were given a lake view room instead of the city view room we had booked, which was very nice indeed and very much appreciated.

I found the stay enjoyable, the room was comfortable and the bed, I enjoyed the WIFI and all the TV channels. Reception was a pleasure to deal with polite and efficient, I liked the idea of having a beer at the Novotel with their open fire place. I will be staying again for sure

Even though there was no hot water, the staff there at the IBIS handled the situation very well. Special mention to Diane (or Diana) she was professional and empathetic toward the situation offering other alternatives, she gave a good detailed explanation on the water problems- and handled it as best she could . She is such an asset to the hotel, she greets patrons and farewells them in such a friendly welcoming way - she was just wonderful! thank you for a great stay

Thereswas no hot water in the shower

Our hotel has two geothermal bores for our hot water - one main bore and one back up bore. Unfortunately, we've had issues with both bores, hence the lack of hot water. Space was at a premium, not sure a room that is that small warrents two queen beds (especially when one is pushed against a wall). The bathroom only had one and a bit toilet rolls (surely there should have been a spare). Coming in main entrance is was hard to ideally locate check in desk. If my room was a complete charge back don't understand why I need a $50 charge against my credit card. Apart from that the staff were friendly and the place was clean. Nice view over lake from the room.

A Budget Experience

The rooms are exceptionally small vs the expectation the photos of the rooms create. One lift was not working throughout the whole long weekend. Breakfast was budget. On approaching the bar lady on Sunday evening for ONE drink her immediate unfriendly and unimpressed comment was 'remember I close in 15 minutes' we then replied we only want one drink/nightcap and she replied 'if it is only one it is fine'. No normal magazine, file with in house rules or room service menus like you normally find in any hotel, B&B, etc. The receptionist was outstanding - a big shoutout to her - she deserves a medal!

Very good. Only the last night and morning disappointing with just luke warm water in shower. Just bearable and being brave.

They have a comfy bed and they gave a quiet room on the top floor like we requested. However the shower is not hot. We tried to keep the water running for a while to see if it will heat up but it didnt... and that happened again on our next night. So it was uncomfortable to take a shower at night since it was too cold

We have been Accor plus members for a few years now. We have to say this is the worst Accor hotel we have stayed in. Although the room was clean. The actual reception / dining area was very uninviting. We went downstairs for our complimentary drink into the 'bar' area. It was so dark!! We asked why there was no lights on. The bar lady said it was to create ambiance!! But it was so dark it was ridiculous. There was only one other couple in there at 5.30 and they were struggling to see their phones let alone each other!! I am sure this area would be utilised more if the lights were on. Maybe it is kept dark so that no-one wants to use the area and the staff can go home early or doesnt the hotel want to pay for staff to man this area. Very disappointing. We wouldnt stay at this hotel again!!!!!

CITY VIEW KING ROOM - Not what we had

Hi There, I booked two rooms on our special rate. It was my husband and his sisters' first time to Rotorua, they are from England. I wish I had booked us in the Novotel which was not much more with our discount however they only had Queen rooms available and I specifically need a King bed due to my husband being wide. When we arrived we were given a double bed, not a king, I asked reception who advised that there was only one size available and that was what we had. If this is the case the photo's on the website of king beds need to be removed as does the wording of King room. Also certainly not a city veiw. The towels and shower cutain in the room were frayed the bottom and the shower floor needs to be bleached. We stayed in room 522 & 523. We had breakfast in the hotel also, I am lactose intolerant and the chef was kind enough to make me fried eggs which were fine however the bacon and sausages left on the side in those old trays were cold as always. Overall I will never be placing my clients in this hotel. I would like a partial refund for the fact we didn't even receive what we had booked which was a King Room. Please contact me for further information.
