« A relaxing weekend »

The stay was very nice and my wife and I enjoyed both the room and the spa facilities. The staff were all fantastic and exceptionally friendly. The only real let down was that due to some strange booking issue the systems had us down for two queen beds. The wonderful staff was able to get us in a king room however somewhere in that process we lost our balcony which was a bit of a bummer as I think we paid slightly more for that and I would have liked to enjoy the lake views.

Our first visit to Queenstown was made even better by the great team at Sofitel. From the welcome at check-in to the lovely treats delivered to our room, and even a complimentary breakfast on our day of check-out, we were made to feel that little bit special throughout. « Nice but could’ve been better »

Our room was quite run down and disappointing for what we paid. The shower had mould in it , the fridge was dirty, and everything was looking quite rough. We were expecting a higher standard for what we paid. All the staff were nice but when we pulled up on arrival no one came out to help us with our bags, even after we had checked in.

Can’t get a better location. Staff are very friendly, prompt and always providing a good service however the rooms were okay the fridge compressor kept me up all night and I could hear the rooms next door and people in the hall way at all night also, not sure if the rooms could be better insulated and the fridges changed. « Always a lovely stay, the room was warm and the location is ideal »

While I will remain loyal, the fact of the matter is the standard is declining rapidly. - the greeting at reception is 100% and can't be faulted - my previous stay I mentioned that the bar service was below standard, drinks took too long, the staff were more interested in chatting socially with one another, not doing their job - this time, it was the same, we ordered drinks, were not offered peanuts, when asked it was clearly an imposition or too much of an effort. Not drink matts were offered, condensation of the drinks made the table look filthy, the whole bar looked shabby because the tables were messy. Nobody walks over to offer another drink, it is 2/10. - As we all know the midnight room order is frozen/microwaved, this is so bad for international guests, really bad, only learnt my lesson once there -breakfast meal has declined rapidly, the selection and quality of food is clearly on a big budget. The last year is has declined a lot. The staff are gracious and wonderful and just working with what they can. - I overheard people complaining bitterly this stay in the elevator and also at breakfast. One family had the top suite with their children and said that the reason the quality had dropped so much was the old manager was ex Hyatt and the new manager has not got a clue whats going on, its all a big budget - Your clients that are regular are noticing the decline, which is sad - One point I keep forgetting to ask, is.... how do you turn the bathroom fan off, it roars all night? - I will stay loyal but it is sad to see the decline and the bar staff need a formal warning to go, this is your flagship and they are lazy Michael B.

Dear Mr B., Firstly allow me to thank you for your time on the phone yesterday and for sharing your feedback with us. As one of our most loyal guests of the hotel, I am deeply sorry that you feel the standards declining. I am currently working through your feedback regarding the bar and restaurant with our Food & Beverage Manager - and completely agree there is some polishing to do in this area. Thank you as well for your comments regarding the buffet - the salmon will be making a return to the buffet very soon, we are also investing money into the buffet display later this year - namely upgrading the hot station to induction plates to allow for better temperature consistency, and a new pastry & bread station. I have noted your comments for the minibar as well - I will certainly be taking this into account as part of our room redesign which we are planning for quarter 4 next year.
