Had a great long weekend in queenstown at the sofitel. Have stayed there before and as usual the service was excellent and the room was great. nice to find some complimentary treats in the room and the new bar is a great place to relax

Very friendly and helpful staff which I value the most when staying in a hotel, I couldn't fault the service. The reception staff happily exchanged our room from a forest to a mountain view at out request, without any problems or extra charge. Was amazing to have the Mountain view during our stay. The room was beautiful, very clean and decor was very pleasant. Maybe need some upgrades in certain areas, curtains were a bit tattered and TV stand somewhat damaged but apart from that everything else was lovely. I was happy with everything apart from one thing. As part of our booking, evening canapes was included. As i'm Coeliac (Allergic to Gluten), I sent an email to the Hotel before our stay to request gluten free options to have when in the Club lounge in the evenings. I also made a request again during check-in. However, each evening there was no gluten-free options. Very disappointing, I thought because I made the request twice...there would be some attempt to provide something to cater for my diet.

Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great room. Perhaps the only small issue was that we could seem to get the air-conditioning to turn down so the room did become quite warm during the night.

« Wonderful stay - staff deserve 5stars »

Our room was lovely - one small little complaint which is outside of your control is that the room was on level 3 and directly opposite the Loan Star and Pub so was very noisy at night and could smell the smoke drifting into the room .......................... The bedding was a little light on and would of been nice to have an extra blanket if needed. I would like to applaud the service given by the staff - they were so helpful with places to eat, places to visit etc.

The rooms, their cleanliness and service were brilliant. The staff that serviced the room during the day and at turndown did a brilliant job (a little inconsistent, but brilliant each time anyway). Because of the Nespresso machine, they should replace the milk in the fridge daily if opened, even if it isn't empty (I had to call several times for replacement). The restaurant staff at breakfast could do with some improvement. As a Food & Beverage Manager in a 5 star resort myself, there as no greeting upon entering the restaurant, nor checking of room number. Friends brought guests from outside the hotel without question. While there is no space for addition, the breakfast buffet could do with some presentation improvement. It looks pretty bland and basic. Staff need some additional training on coffee making. The sounds coming out of the machine were cringe worthy to any barista. However, I did love the fresh loaves of bread, they were delicious! I love the dark seeded rye style loaf and forgot to ask for the recipe! It reminds me of a Danish style bread I grew up on as a kid.

We had a great time and were treated well by the staff in the front office as well as at the bar. We didnt enjoy the left bank as much, our food took a very long time to come out, both at dinner and at breakfast and we felt that a couple of the staff were unfriendly and did not seem to care or know what to do to help make things better. We heard a number of people complain while we were there about the same things. Our room was clean and had a great view of the city. We loved the bath and the size of our room. The extras we got due to being accor members was really nice and we were made to feel like we were important which was great.

Staff were really friendly and capable. Rooms were great and the bar downstairs was lovely. Overall it was a great experience. However, the fact that only one lift was working during our entire stay (which spanned a week) was disappointing and quite frustrating as it meant there were delays during busy periods.
