East to check in and out.Friendly staff always on hand.Room was cleaned and towels refreshed everyday.Discreet cleaning staff.Very quiet location yet not far from city centre. Very relaxing stay.Security staff on hand at weekends which is very reassuring.Very comfortable stay and not expensive.

« Good facilities, bad experience »

The room was clean and comfortable, there were no issues with the facilities. However, a group of guests staying on the same floor were engaging in anti social behavior at 4 am disturbing my sleep and causing a general nuisance. There was no phone or means of contacting reception to address the problem.

No tea/coffee facilities in the room, standard in even a budget hotel. Not value for money. Uncomfortable bed, waking every couple of hours, all four nights, because of it.

I0 am a consultant gynaecologist. I had called Ibis on Hagley road and believed i was talking to their receptionist whilst booking a room. At no ppint was I made aware it was the central office. After a long days hard work and very tired, when I reached Ibis on Hagley road, I was told I had no booking there. I called the number I had called for booking only to find I had no reservation. Eventually I called the number in the e mail sent to me, to be tokd I was booked in a budget hotel which was far from my work place. Tired, i decided to go there. The manager didnt know i was given "£2" discount, which I wasnt aware of either. But wanted to charge me more than the offered rate. The room, its decor was awful. No accesories provided like shampoo etc. The mattress was hard to the extent I could not sleep on it. The window opened on the road and the noise of the traffic wouldn't let one sleep. There was no air conditioning despite the heat wave. Sp after over an hours struggle, I realised id be more tired if i stayed. So i went to the manager for a refund. This was declined. He asked me to contact the customer relations. This I did the next day. I left the hotel thete and then and didnt sleep there. I am waiting to hear back from the customer relations officer for a refund and compensation. Dr B.

« A little disappointing »

I was a little disappointed in that, even though we stayed at the hotel we had to pay for the car park, no toiletries or tea/coffee facilities were provided. As I had stayed in other budget hotels before (but not AccorHotels) and all those previous things were included, it would have been nice to be told when I booked the rooms on the telephone.

Overall a good place to stay at the cheaper end of the market. The cool room was a blessing in this hot spell. However having to input 200 character for a review is a real pisser. Accor get real and accept just what people want to say about your hotels.

We were in Birmingham for to see our daughter and it was our youngest grandsons first birthday as well,the hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful and friendly,the hotel is about a 15 -20 walk to the city centre, so it's very convenient, so no complaints and if we were returning we would stay there again.

Yet another week of weekday nights at the IBIS Budget in central(ish) Birmingham - "central" meaning 5 - 10 min walk from New St station/Grand Central, The Mailbox, The Bullring... or a 10 - 15 min walk to Broad St, Barclaycard Arena, ICC.... As well as the useful location, IBIS Budget is great value, clean, modern, very friendly, with free wi fi in the bedrooms - but it is basic (e.g. no air con in bedrooms). NB: the car park is only SMALL & costs £7 per 24 hrs.
